Amazing game. I have the best memories playing this on PC when I was 11 years old. The trigens used to scare the crap out of me though! Lol, good times. I still play this now and then nowadays but it's not that much fun anymore because I know every enemy position and objectives off the top of my head :D It's my favorite game on PC after Dishonored. Then comes Call of Duty 2 and then CSGO but Far Cry and Call of Duty 2 are the OGs of my childhood.

Every time i play this game i am getting upset when mutants first appear. It's almost like ending of the game for me. Levels with mercenaries are probably my favourite shooter game. I wish they made whole game like that.

I love how heavily influenced this games weapon selection was by counter-strike at the time. That deagle model looks almost identical to the cs 1.5 model... Definitely the golden age of gaming for me.
Far Cry used HDR back in 2004 and consoles are just catching up xD This game along with DOOM 3, UT 2004, HALF LIFE 2, PAINKILLER were the reason why I switched to PC back in 2004 and never looked back
I read many comment but for a game came out nearly 15 years ago is very impressive. Only puppet movements are bad but that was normal in 2005. And I must say that games are better but not what i was expecting 15 years ago when every year the perfomances double up.
as i remember HDR was added as a patch around 2005, just after half life 2 loast coast went out (which is the first game that introduced HDR). When it was released in 2003 far cry did not include HDR.
It looks a little like you would not have anti aliasing on in this one? Played this last year and edges didn't look that sharp imo. Great game and great example of cry engine even in it's beginning.

Ah, back when Far Cry wasn’t a game where you ran around a mostly empty open world doing the same repetitive task over and over again until you quit out of sheer boredom. Just awesome guerrilla warfare gameplay with large, open ended but still handcrafted levels. No having to blow up trucks that drive in circles endlessly or climb radio towers, just kick ass and have fun.
Actually; you're wrong. Far Cry was released in March 2004, HL2 November 2004. HDR rendering came in patch 1.3 for Far Cry, October 2004. This used OpenEXR to do this & could be enabled if you utilised a GeForce 6 series card at the time by disabling AA. Half-Life 2 never supported HDR on release; & the add-on 'Lost Coast', released Q4 2015 exclusively show-cased this add-on. So whilst Half-Life 2 eventually supported HDR, this wasn't until around much later.
Its like fake 4K but yeh. PS4Pro is using same tactic. when u apply DSR make sure u check all boxes in 3dmanaged then go game and change resolution 4096 x 2160 but u gonna get huge fps loss if u dont have good card.

2004 was a hell of a year graphically speaking between this, Half Life 2, and Doom 3, plus a few others. Insane.

You should also force AA in your graphic card settings. I do it even in much older games.
