Our religion and culture is the only one which celebrates the coming of age ceremony like this! Buddhist nations also celebrate it by giving the girl child red bean sweet porridge, signifying coming of age. I am glad so many Hindus still celebrate it instead of thinking its nonsense. Celebrating the female gender is important. In our religion, female = goddess.
