Great video Gail very well documented. Such a beautiful coast line. It's hard to believe nothing has been done from 10 years ago. When do much government money has been wasted on useless projects.
Thanks so much. People need to be told and shown what is happening to these beloved areas. I just hope the extra exposure in the media will help get this closer to a resolution this time around.
Oh my God, we had a fortnight at Hemsby back in the 70s, it was so quiet and definitely no money wasting windmills spoiling the view! The beach was pristine as well, can't believe what's happening to our country these days, breaks my heart!
I live in Hemsby and took a beach walk about a month ago, at the bottom of the dunes there was a tree that had obviously been dragged down from the recently demolished beach chalets and there was still a bird feeder hanging from one of the branches which really brought the reality of coastal erosion home..Hemsby needs to be saved 🙏
I have seen the trees that came down...which I also struggled with because I remember commenting how lovely they were when we walked by them on the Marrams years back. I hadn't noticed the bird feeder...but yes it really hits a nerve and shows the harsh reality. I do hope they can get some proper defences in place... temporary ones are exactly that... just temporary and not good enough long term.
Yes, very sad. Let's hope enough funds can be raised for a longer lasting solution. Hoping to do another video in the next week or so to show recent developments. At least there is access to the beach again for now.
Thoughts go out to all, can’t even imagine what they are going through right now losing their homes . I used to live Caister , but am now back in London, I so miss the Norfolk coast
Your kind words will be appreciated. Caister is a lovely place too. We moved back to Norfolk recently, so like you can appreciate how it tugs at you when you move away.
I know, it's so sad and I can't imagine how those that have lived there so long and made it their home must feel. That is why we need to keep supporting Hemsby...I hope to go and do another video soon to show what work has started on the beach and I do hope people will continue to support Hemsby's community and businesses by still holidaying there.
It's terribly sad that so many properties are being washed out to sea, and it's even more sad knowing that many others will follow. The sea's a mighty beast and difficult to tame. But, after these storms the beaches should be cleaned up, especially of all the plastic and metal rubbish, before it's swept out to sea. 😥 (Good document Gail!)
@@carlsherwin5557 yes I saw on the news they had to demolish another property... apparently funding for a rock berm was refused by the government about a week ago. They need help. 😞
They prefer to pay CEO etc vast amounts and pontificate their do goody goody ideas instead of getting off their diverse big fat arses and do something instead of Squarking at their volunteers to push lgbtq ideas.
It's such a shame...so much money is wasted on more pointless projects in this country. As I mentioned in the video, a local charity own the Marrams and Hemsby Beach so not National Trust but owning it surely means a responsibility to look after it.

Hemsby has changed a lot over the years but it is still a great place to go and I hope people continue to visit.
Britain is worse than a 3 rd world country now - nothing is being done properly now , least alone coastal erosion measures

We walked that beach from Scratby to Hemsby the following Sunday. So sad to see how much beach has been lost,

@@michaelcheevers68 very true...once you've been there...it keeps calling you back!!
Heart breaking I’ve been coming to Hemsby since I was 2 and to see it’s all being destroyed and people loosing their homes 😢 soul destroying

Very true...nature is a real force and yes it was very dangerous...we did warn a family that we saw walking down to the beach with a young child.

The lacon arms pub doesnt look to far away from the sea now.
It's definitely encroaching further in...the storms and frequent heavy rain can take out metres at a time.
The earth is covered by 70%water let's somehow shore this part of coastline up watched them pull down a property 2 days ago at hemsby

All that money they gave to france would have been better spent on sea defences here
Definitely need to be looking after our coastlines.
And Rowanda
The National Trust own most of our coastline and refuse to help stop coastal erosion with no exception shame on them

A lot of people don't know that , most of our coastline is privately owned , it is only through their good will people can access the beaches etc
