Should there be a policy of having a physical examination after being arrested?
Do you think that people who have been arrested have a tendency to be irrational and chaotic?
Do you think being a prison/jail guard difficult?

@David Whitfield yeah of course you are. . Me too. I know exactly how rare detox without underlying condition deaths are. I've been dealing with addicts on a professional level for 26 years. You're more than welcome to provide us with links. As a nurse that should be the first thing you learn about detoxing. Is how unlikely someone is to die from it. With alcohol being the number one it is still highly unlikely unless they have other health conditions

    • @theglassmaster3140
      @theglassmaster3140 3 года назад

@David Whitfield But don't rewrite my comment either. Because I did say rare. Out of 1440 detoxing addicts we saw one death. And he had Heart complications. So I'm not saying it doesn't happen. But not to the extent people are lead to believe. That myth is perpetuated by the addicts themselves

As a nurse there are so many key things we are taught as nurses that each and every one of these nurses ignored. And despite the “Charge nurse” declaring that he was faking it basically, we are taught if you as a nurse believe that someone is gravely unwell and needs help regardless of what the senior nurse says you go and you get that person help. That is a declaration that every nurse undertakes. And not one of these nurses or prison guards stood up for this man and said no there is something very wrong here, he needs help. The just dragged him around like a dog, threw him in a cell, stripped him naked and slammed the door. They ALL should be sacked and held accountable for this man’s death, this is manslaughter and failure to provide a person medical attention when even to a blind person they would know he was very very sick !!

I was looking up the average number of deaths of inmates in Georgia while watching this video...I couldn't find anything...then I heard the reporter say in this video..."they're not required to report the number of deaths of inmates in Georgia." ?!? I am appalled by that. These are precious human beings REGARDLESS of what I, he, she, they, them or that one thinks. The way this man died in his cell is an absolute result of a group of people that were afraid to say anything, being either cowards or too busy with their own life to look up and see this man pleading for his life! 😡😡😡

Why were none of the medical personnel reported to their respective state licensing boards? I’m a former federal hospital attorney and can count at least 10 reportable violations that warrant license revocation. Anyone, literally anyone, can report a licensee. Jails don’t contract with the “best” healthcare providers; the hire the cheapest. Any everyone knows it. They’re the government.
11Alive, you’re a credit to investigative journalism. I’m a former federal prosecutor now judge and a 25 year military member. I believe in fairness, following rules and fixing what’s broken. None of those exist in this system. It’s a symptom of a more widespread problem throughout law enforcement.

It was the charge nurse who told the others not to check him, they believed her was sincere and in pain, charge nurse would not anyone check his vital signs.....she kept saying he was detoxing and just wanted to go to the hospital for drugs, she never checked on him, and she lied to the detectives investigating his death. She needs to be fired...no hospital wouldn’t even hire her....charge nurse had the ability to fire any of the other nurses....they would not have a job if the disobey her.....she at the very lest should have her nursing license.

Speechless. As an ER/ICU Nurse who also moonlighted at a state prison infirmary, my colleagues and I KNOW that regardless of color, race or economic strata there will always be ‘drug seekers’ or individuals that attempt to manipulate. Nevertheless, it is our DUTY to address/evaluate ALL medical complaints and provide care based on Clinical Data. PERIOD. The Charge Nurse that ignored the Tech’s repeated requests for evaluation and dismissed the poor man who needlessly lost his life as a ‘drug seeker’ should not only lose her license, she should be jailed for negligent manslaughter.

If a man is not sleeping and screaming all night and into the next day, even if he's detoxing, he needs to be looked at. Why didn't the nurses have the sense to take his vitals and check him out where he was having pain that severe. It would have taken just a few minutes but they ignored him and let him die! Very sad! Staff need to take responsibility for their neglect!!

All countries need to do better, but the injustice towards black people in the US should be criminal. The charge nurse should be charged with derelict of duty; it was obvious something wasn't right with the prisoner. Sherrie Warren should be fired, if he thinks his jail did nothing wrong.

  • @twstf8905

Thankfully, the community has elected a new Sheriff since all this happened last year in Cobb County.
Fortunately, when elected Law Enforcement leaders abuse their power, or circumvent the will of the people, they have an opportunity every four years to elect someone new to the job.
Which also means that the Sheriff is a servant of the public trust. And Craig D. Owens has already done a better job for the people of Cobb County, Georgia in his first year than the previous Sheriff did during his entire tenure, which began way back in 2003.
He ran virtually unopposed time and time again, until now Sheriff Owens has managed to make history becoming the first African American Sheriff in Cobb County ever in a stunning upset victory that was really more of a statement of the community's diminished faith in Sheriff Warren.
Let's just say this whole series of inexplicable jail deaths is merely the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to the former Sheriff's increasing record of shortcomings.
