Carpet apparently is bugged on Bedrock. Spiders will still spawn on it. Buttons (I’ve tested and it so far works) or slabs (I haven’t tested but hypothetically should work) in a checkered pattern.

Make a little 1x1 box at the side of the killing chamber and push a skeleton in. This turns your farm into a record farm when you're standing opposite of the skeleton - make sure you're not wearing thorns armor, and keep that shield up.
I built this on bedrock, here's some things to note if you're considering it. It DOES work, but it needs some modifications. As the video creator said in his pinned comment, you have to put buttons on each floor in a checkerboard pattern instead of carpet. Even then, bedrock will occasionally spawn spiders in the gaps. As far as I'm aware, there is no way on bedrock to get a 100% creeper only grinder. In my experience, after applying the button fix, it's 95% creepers with just a few spider stragglers here and there. Second, you may want to build each corner of the snowman cages up one extra fence, so two tall on the corners with the centers being one tall. This will prevent the straggler spiders from killing your snowmen. Trust me, having to go back in to work on this or replace snowmen after it's built isn't fun, so just do that on your initial build. Also, the spawn rate is WAY slower on bedrock due to the mobcap. You may go several minutes without any creepers dropping down, don't panic if it doesn't start raining creepers immediately. When they do drop, if you follow the 19 bock "chute" this guy made, over half of them will die of fall damage and not allow you to use looting. I made mine 15, and now it's only 1 in 5 that die of fall damage, while the ones that live are one hit kills with a sword. Finally, I suggest building the floor of your platform one block beneath the chest, with slabs on the hoppers. That way, you're close enough to hit them, but they won't blow up 99% of the time. If one does start to detonate, back up and you have plenty of time to prevent it. Also, if they're too far away to hit, crouch so they can see you.
Tip: Use obsidian or something with high blast resistance for bottom blocks where you collect, sucks when you get the cascade of explosions as you're trying to repair from the first one...and use cement slabs on top of the hoppers
Trapdoors are a nicer option than slabs on the killing area hoppers. Alternatively place trapdoors on the bottom of the glass. Either 1 (or both) will stop the creepers from getting triggered when killing them.
Yeah, trapdoors at the bottom of the glass (above the chest). I had to do this and replaced the glass with stone because they were almost being triggered on their way down. Now it doesn't happen anymore with the stone and trapdoors. They don't see me approaching at all unless they're all the way in the back. In that case, I let them see me and quickly move back as they start approaching. No more explosions since doing it this way.
I did 3 layers if the farm in my survival world and it is still pretty efficient, i went afk overnight and i got two shulker boxes full plus a bit extra. I recommend this farm it didn't even take very long to build. I also could have gotten more loot if i used a trident killer instead of campfires for the creepers.

Works great on bedrock (realm). AFK:able if you funnel it into a trident killer. About 2 stacks per hour + a decent amout of exp. Equipped looting enchant is applied for the trident. Well done mr Wattles. Exchanged the carpets for buttons.
making this farm was one of the most fun times I had in my survival smp with friends, we made funny name for the snowman and generally goofed around the reward for our hours of work paid off wonderfully! thanks so much

TIP: 14:30 "just about safe unless you stand too close" I have an answer for that. The glass blocks out the very bottom, where you fight from- put trap doors on the bottom of those. Leaves a very small space to swing through, and absolutely NO mobs can see through that. Zero accidental creeper explosions. Yay the things you learn wasting time in skyblock perfecting farms :D
Just for the people wondering, if you build it perfectly you can get up to 14 layers exactly! I just built mine for the first time and it is well worth the time and work!!! 10/10, will definitely be building this farm again! Thx Wattles!
I'm playing bedrock 1.20.10, and I needed a lot of gunpowder I've looked at a lot of videos, I think this is the simplest and most efficient farm. thanks! ps. 'll post a review after making it!
It should be sufficient to use 3 carpet on each "strip", as spiders need a 3x3 area to spawn. Simply change the two middle carpets to a single one in the middle. This will free up one spawning space for creepers, making the farm slightly more efficient. Also, for anyone watching, you can use slabs as the floor. This not only saves on building materials, but also reduces the amount of wandering the creepers can do. (Changing the walls for stairs also has this effect, so now creepers will essentially stand still until hit by a snowball. I don't think this will make a difference for this specific farm.)
I think I like the idea of building this and disguising it as a hot air balloon flying over the ocean? Also you could use dispensers to turn the campfires on and off for looting and AFK modes

@@arcticislostif u made a mob farm instead then thats because u didnt follow the video correctly. after building the platform of next layer ur suppose to add trapdoors below them, making the spawning platform of the first layer only able to spawn creepers as creeper's hitboxes are smaller then other mobs.
Great farm works perfectly!! One thing I would say to make it 100% safe is around the hoppers put fences they’ll prevent you from getting too close for them to explode.
Works great in java 1.20.4 and for those building this water buckets will be your best friend for moving around. Doing an overnight afk and within an hour i got like 8 stacks already. A+
Spent 2 hours making this, gathering materials and building it. It functions quite nicely, getting me 2 stacks of gunpowder in only a few minutes. But it also broke after about 2 ingame days, skeletons spawn and kill the snow golems, making it completely inoperable.
BEDROCK USERS ======================= This farm will work, just some modifications need to be made. Some comments have discussed some of the necessary changes but here’s the rundown for the whole farm all together. I play on a bedrock realm and built 5 layers and I get 3 stacks per hour (which is good enough so that if you afk it overnight, you’ll have more than enough) The modifications i made were: Checkerboard pattern of rails on each layer (should come out to 56 rails per layer) Add an additional fence on top of every corner around the snowgolem Replace the block underneath snowgolem with a non spawnable block (i used glass) Replace the 4 floating blocks around the snow golem with magma This one isn’t necessarily but it increases rates- replaced the roof with tinted glass to trick the game into using the top layer for “surface spawns” Added a trident killer to the bottom (the farm uses a 3x3 hole which a 3x3 trident killer is buildable but what I did was funnel the creepers into a 2x2 by adding flowing water that they fall on that pushes them into a 2x2 pit which I have a 2x2 trident killer that also has water flowing into it using a waterlogged stair) (this is did to stop any creepers from dying from fall damage and so that an impaling trident can be used for faster killing=faster rates) These modifications do not stop all spiders from spawning but does limit them a decent amount, anyways, string is good for wool, which is good for beds, which is good for netherite mining. The last modification i made was adding a 3x3 flush horizontal piston door so that when the farm is off, I can safely grab the trident. This step is only necessary for multiplayer worlds since the trident has to be rethrown by the player using the farm for looting III. If you have any questions, hit me up. And if yall really need it, I can make a video showing the modifications.
I built this design and it seems like it should work better, my spawn rates are really slow like 1-2 creepers every minute or so. Is it possible that because I'm on a server rates would be slower?
If you are going full auto with campfires you should make your AFK 120 blocks above the lowest spawn point of the creepers. This maneuver helped me lots
REMEMBER!! there is a difference between STAINED glass and TINTED glass.. i mean, it looks really good in red glass/polished granite floors but only works at night -.-

This farm is relatively easy to make, and it works very well! Just make sure you have trapdoors everywhere you need them and that you place slabs on top of the hoppers. Enjoy the gunpowder and XP!
I built this farm, and gathered all the materials and fully built it in my hardcore world in under 4 hours, from start to finish. My only issue was when at the killing area, a creeper blew up when i was making the platform, and i had to gather more hoppers because they blew up, but overall, its a great farm.
Playing on Bedrock edition. I had to change the carpets to slabs, put buttons in between the blocks separating the hypothetical creepers and the snow golems just to prevent spiders from spawning. And after all that, barely any creepers spawned. So I just spent all those hours building a near useless block in the air. Wattles should definitely not call this a Bedrock edition farm.
I followed along with the tutorial and built exactly what he built just with cobblestone and all I was getting was the occasional creeper and a bunch of spiders. My snow golems also kept dying. P.S, I play on bedrock.
another tip for those building this , I would put slabs on top of the hoppers, then a ring of trapdoors on the underside of the glass (the exterior blocks) if that makes any sense. It’s a smaller gap, so the creepers have way less of a chance at exploding
Place buttons in checker pattern where carpet was, im getting about 15 to 20 gunpowder a min with looting 3. So about 3 to 4 creepers a min or 2 on bedrock.
Something that I’ve noticed a lot of farming tutorial videos to is they create the farm in a vacuum they don’t take into consideration, wanting to EFK spot or wanting to have like farms together farms that make TNT being in one location farms for villager crafting being in one location Etc. and I think it would be interesting and you could do well a guide of how to create localized farm areas where there won’t be so much interference between one farm and another Edit im sorry for all the errors, thank siri, but no im not going to fix them.
I fell in love with your tutorials, especially since they give you clear instructions on how the farm is intended to work and the ways you can modify it. I built it in my 1.20.1 Java world using tinted glass and am currently the happy owner of a double chest of gunpowder. It was my first ever creeper farm and after some troubleshooting to find out why some of my snow golems died, it works properly and I can now just travel there through my Nether portal to afk to my heart's content. I even did as guntramblohm4179 suggested and trapped a skeleton in a boat, in a small 3x3 stone brick hut behind the killing chamber with iron trap doors so I can toggle my creeper assassin whenever I need music discs.
@@freeshavacado2121 Turns out I missed placing some of the trap doors on the ceilings so eventually a skeleton spawned in and killed one of my golems. Once I fixed the problem spots, my snow golems stayed alive.

Anyone saying this doesn't work, or that spiders are spawning, switch the carpet with buttons and it should work. That fixed the issue for me on Bedrock.

Tiny tweak. Put the chest on the side so you don't have to step around it to hack at the creepers. or put chests all the way across the front so you're not constantly trying to maneuver around an obstacle. I plan on starting this build tonight. Who knows, I may even go farm some sand and use tinted glass. Or smooth stone. I have a crap ton of that too. Too much. everything I have is built out of smooth stone LOL.
After spending hours buliding it i learned a valuable lesson read the comments before building. 2nd farm by wattles i have built claiming to be for bedrock too only for it not to work
This still works well as of 1.21 I built 2 layers, put campfires on top of the hoppers and went AFK for about 10-15 minutes and got just over 2 stacks of gunpowder.
@@Assassin-px1ro I don't have that problem, no. Is there a segment with no trapdoors on yours, perhaps? I don't know what else could cause that. It should be too cramped for skeletons.
Build more layers. Build a Trident killer at the bottom and equip a Looting III sword while sitting at the killing chamber. Bedrock spawn rates are considerably lower than Java. Doing the above will increase your production, but it won't beat Java production rates. It's the nature of being on Bedrock, unfortunately.
I dont know what I did wrong, I followed the build to a tee and the creepers dont drop as commonly as shown in this video. Where could I have gone wrong, I made the entire build in Polished Deepslate so does the block affect anything?

Since I made this build in a server with friends the mob spawns in the whole server we're affected when someone else was on the server. My friend would afk my zombie grinder and it would cause the creeper grinder to be slow and inefficient compared to when I was alone
I used trap doors instead of carpet, put fences around the hoppers and slabs on top of the hoppers. Works great! I've never made a creeper only farm before because they always use cats and I didn't wanna deal with that, so thank you for making a guide with easily obtainable resources

built mine over an ocean 6 plus chunks from any land and high enough up to not get spawns under farm at all, i'm in hard mode i replaced the torches on top with bottom slabs for spawn proofing and still my rates are super slow. @@z0d10grapher7
I built a 6 layer farm, but my top two snow golems keep despawning. Any ideas? They are covered by tinted glass and then solid blocks on top of that. Edit: There was ONE (1) trap door that I forgot to place. They were getting shot by skeletons. Use me as a reminder to double check that all trapdoors are placed lol.
Tip: if you're making the farm make sure your snow golems have a block above their head to stop the rain from damaging them before the roof is put on
If you don't have any blocks above it then yes, but if you do it was probably a spider

Campfires with soul sand do twice as much damage, which will increase the mob spawn rate and increase the drop rate.

It should be sufficient to use 3 carpet on each "strip", as spiders need a 3x3 area to spawn. Simply change the two middle carpets to a single one in the middle. This will free up one spawning space for creepers, making the farm slightly more efficient.
Also, for anyone watching, you can use slabs as the floor. This not only saves on building materials, but also reduces the amount of wandering the creepers can do. (Changing the walls for stairs also has this effect, so now creepers will essentially stand still until hit by a snowball. I don't think this will make a difference for this specific farm.)

@@arcticislostif u made a mob farm instead then thats because u didnt follow the video correctly. after building the platform of next layer ur suppose to add trapdoors below them, making the spawning platform of the first layer only able to spawn creepers as creeper's hitboxes are smaller then other mobs.
Great farm works perfectly!! One thing I would say to make it 100% safe is around the hoppers put fences they’ll prevent you from getting too close for them to explode.
Can also crouch and the creepers will come to you but dont ignite

Works great in java 1.20.4 and for those building this water buckets will be your best friend for moving around. Doing an overnight afk and within an hour i got like 8 stacks already. A+

DONT BUILD THIS FARM OVER A RIVER BIOME, no hostile mobs other than droweds can spawn over them
Spent 2 hours making this, gathering materials and building it. It functions quite nicely, getting me 2 stacks of gunpowder in only a few minutes. But it also broke after about 2 ingame days, skeletons spawn and kill the snow golems, making it completely inoperable.

This farm will work, just some modifications need to be made. Some comments have discussed some of the necessary changes but here’s the rundown for the whole farm all together.
I play on a bedrock realm and built 5 layers and I get 3 stacks per hour (which is good enough so that if you afk it overnight, you’ll have more than enough)
The modifications i made were:
Checkerboard pattern of rails on each layer (should come out to 56 rails per layer)
Add an additional fence on top of every corner around the snowgolem
Replace the block underneath snowgolem with a non spawnable block (i used glass)
Replace the 4 floating blocks around the snow golem with magma
This one isn’t necessarily but it increases rates- replaced the roof with tinted glass to trick the game into using the top layer for “surface spawns”
Added a trident killer to the bottom (the farm uses a 3x3 hole which a 3x3 trident killer is buildable but what I did was funnel the creepers into a 2x2 by adding flowing water that they fall on that pushes them into a 2x2 pit which I have a 2x2 trident killer that also has water flowing into it using a waterlogged stair) (this is did to stop any creepers from dying from fall damage and so that an impaling trident can be used for faster killing=faster rates)
These modifications do not stop all spiders from spawning but does limit them a decent amount, anyways, string is good for wool, which is good for beds, which is good for netherite mining.
The last modification i made was adding a 3x3 flush horizontal piston door so that when the farm is off, I can safely grab the trident. This step is only necessary for multiplayer worlds since the trident has to be rethrown by the player using the farm for looting III.

I built this design and it seems like it should work better, my spawn rates are really slow like 1-2 creepers every minute or so. Is it possible that because I'm on a server rates would be slower?

If you are going full auto with campfires you should make your AFK 120 blocks above the lowest spawn point of the creepers. This maneuver helped me lots
If you place a fence next to the chest, you can walk into the fence and chest, and the creepers can't explode, but you can reach basically all of them
REMEMBER!! there is a difference between STAINED glass and TINTED glass.. i mean, it looks really good in red glass/polished granite floors but only works at night -.-

This farm is relatively easy to make, and it works very well! Just make sure you have trapdoors everywhere you need them and that you place slabs on top of the hoppers. Enjoy the gunpowder and XP!
You can save a few trapdoors by not putting them directly above the carpets - the carpets stop the spawning issues for those spots.

I built this farm, and gathered all the materials and fully built it in my hardcore world in under 4 hours, from start to finish. My only issue was when at the killing area, a creeper blew up when i was making the platform, and i had to gather more hoppers because they blew up, but overall, its a great farm.
Playing on Bedrock edition. I had to change the carpets to slabs, put buttons in between the blocks separating the hypothetical creepers and the snow golems just to prevent spiders from spawning. And after all that, barely any creepers spawned. So I just spent all those hours building a near useless block in the air.
Wattles should definitely not call this a Bedrock edition farm.
I followed along with the tutorial and built exactly what he built just with cobblestone and all I was getting was the occasional creeper and a bunch of spiders. My snow golems also kept dying. P.S, I play on bedrock.

another tip for those building this , I would put slabs on top of the hoppers, then a ring of trapdoors on the underside of the glass (the exterior blocks) if that makes any sense. It’s a smaller gap, so the creepers have way less of a chance at exploding

Place buttons in checker pattern where carpet was, im getting about 15 to 20 gunpowder a min with looting 3. So about 3 to 4 creepers a min or 2 on bedrock.
Something that I’ve noticed a lot of farming tutorial videos to is they create the farm in a vacuum they don’t take into consideration, wanting to EFK spot or wanting to have like farms together farms that make TNT being in one location farms for villager crafting being in one location Etc. and I think it would be interesting and you could do well a guide of how to create localized farm areas where there won’t be so much interference between one farm and another

I fell in love with your tutorials, especially since they give you clear instructions on how the farm is intended to work and the ways you can modify it. I built it in my 1.20.1 Java world using tinted glass and am currently the happy owner of a double chest of gunpowder. It was my first ever creeper farm and after some troubleshooting to find out why some of my snow golems died, it works properly and I can now just travel there through my Nether portal to afk to my heart's content. I even did as guntramblohm4179 suggested and trapped a skeleton in a boat, in a small 3x3 stone brick hut behind the killing chamber with iron trap doors so I can toggle my creeper assassin whenever I need music discs.
why did the golems die?
@@freeshavacado2121 Turns out I missed placing some of the trap doors on the ceilings so eventually a skeleton spawned in and killed one of my golems. Once I fixed the problem spots, my snow golems stayed alive.

Anyone saying this doesn't work, or that spiders are spawning, switch the carpet with buttons and it should work. That fixed the issue for me on Bedrock.

Tiny tweak. Put the chest on the side so you don't have to step around it to hack at the creepers. or put chests all the way across the front so you're not constantly trying to maneuver around an obstacle.
I plan on starting this build tonight. Who knows, I may even go farm some sand and use tinted glass. Or smooth stone. I have a crap ton of that too. Too much. everything I have is built out of smooth stone LOL.
After spending hours buliding it i learned a valuable lesson read the comments before building. 2nd farm by wattles i have built claiming to be for bedrock too only for it not to work

Build more layers. Build a Trident killer at the bottom and equip a Looting III sword while sitting at the killing chamber. Bedrock spawn rates are considerably lower than Java. Doing the above will increase your production, but it won't beat Java production rates. It's the nature of being on Bedrock, unfortunately.

A creeper spawns like every minute but since I got a looting 3 sword, I still get a lot of gun powder. Nice farm

I dont know what I did wrong, I followed the build to a tee and the creepers dont drop as commonly as shown in this video. Where could I have gone wrong, I made the entire build in Polished Deepslate so does the block affect anything?
Creeper farms are usually slow.

Since I made this build in a server with friends the mob spawns in the whole server we're affected when someone else was on the server. My friend would afk my zombie grinder and it would cause the creeper grinder to be slow and inefficient compared to when I was alone
I used trap doors instead of carpet, put fences around the hoppers and slabs on top of the hoppers. Works great! I've never made a creeper only farm before because they always use cats and I didn't wanna deal with that, so thank you for making a guide with easily obtainable resources

IIRC, a number of the chunks around world spawn stay loaded at all times, if one of them is a suitable biome.
Are you on Bedrock? Because Unfortunately chunk loaders only work on Java Edition.
Bedrock players: DON’T BUILD THIS DESIGN. I love your stuff @Wattles, but this is the worst farm. I get better rates running around at night. Choose another design, build a ghast farm… anything but this.

From my experience anytime i build farms high up like this they don't work for bedrock try building it at a lower height

built mine over an ocean 6 plus chunks from any land and high enough up to not get spawns under farm at all, i'm in hard mode i replaced the torches on top with bottom slabs for spawn proofing and still my rates are super slow. @@z0d10grapher7
I built a 6 layer farm, but my top two snow golems keep despawning. Any ideas? They are covered by tinted glass and then solid blocks on top of that.
Edit: There was ONE (1) trap door that I forgot to place. They were getting shot by skeletons. Use me as a reminder to double check that all trapdoors are placed lol.
