WOW! Been wondering about investing in the Voigtlander Nokton 17.5mm f/0.95 lens and this upload has made my mind up! Truly stunning. Thank you for the outstanding upload.
Love the night scenes. I've got this lens and the 25mm and I really think they're perfect with MFT. Best of both worlds-modern tech on the body and a classic film look in the lens.
Very nice work. I just bought one of these and while it makes its way to me I'm looking at other people's images. I can't get over what a strong personality this lens has! And I haven't seen many images of Hong Kong so that was great. And all those night scenes! Who needs an A7s? This lens can see in the dark.
This is stunning footage. Gorgeous bokeh in backgrounds when wanted or razor sharp footage that cuts your eyeballs. Wow is all I can say. I saw it and I had to have one for my GH4 which now has just the 2 great F/2.8 24-70 and 70-200mm equivalent zooms. I found a mint condition one used for $739 and will have it in 2 days. I think I just killed it with that price for a like new one of these lenses. Just can't wait. Yours is the finest footage I have seen anywhere. Thanks again. Question, did you have do do much in general with the color grading in post or do those settings look pretty much like that when you get the footage back? And as someone else remarked there is very low noise in most of the lower ISO clips and a little at 800. Did you do any noise reduction in post? Thanks
This might be a silly question, but how do you set exposure if there is no electronic communication between the lens and the camera? I'm thinking about purchasing this lens, but at this cost I need to know all the problems I am going to encounter. I have a Panasonic G85 btw.
@@albertascorpiono3738 like all manual lenses there is an aperture ring on the lens for adjusting aperture. Shutter speed and iso are adjusted on the camera as normal.
So in the video said Cinelike D, and then Neutral settings, are you referring to natural picture profile? Does that mean both picture profile (cine D and natural) were used making this video? In the description, only Neutral was mentioned. I'm really curious, was it cinelike D or natural? or both?
You can sure get some really low light shots perfectly exposed if you only have some fast glass, like what you have here. Iso 800 with F/0.95 should do most situations without lighting.
Wow, great quality +DSI Pictures ! Have you had a chance to use the 25mm (50mm equivilant) version of this lens? I want to get one of these, either the 17.5 or the 25, but am split on which to get.
It's good but no way a 7s Killer. They are entirely two different cameras. I'm using this Lens on my GH2 and it is a low light beast of a lens. GH5 for me next after I purchase the 10.5mm Voigtlander
I am watching at 42 inch 4k screen. The left and right edge looks blurry at infinity focus even at f5.6, at 2.8 very blurry. Definitely showing its age.
I have now have the 25mm F/0.95, 42.5mm F/0.95 and the 17mm F/0.95 Voigtlanders. They are awesome. I have also added a Pentax SMC 50mm F/1.2 vintage lens to my kit. What a incredible lens. It performs very close to the 42.5mm Voigtlander and is incredibly sharp at F/2.8
Hi there, thanks for your message. Yea I shot everything on a tripod, because the lens doesn't have image stabilization. And I don't really like the wobbling shot. So I mostly prefer to shoot with a tripod. But if the lens have IS. It wouldn't mind to shoot some handheld stuff :)
I like the look of voigtlander lenses but I mostly shoot hand held with the 14-140 f3.5 which has a very good image stabiliser). I have yet to buy a really nice manual focus lens. I have used some cheap CCTV lenses which are fun but only really work in low light situations.
powerofcelica Hi, nice video! Do you think the image stabilization would be a problem for run and gun? I use GH4 and Glidecam HD-2000. Wonder if it would be a problem? I am thinking about using Premiere Pro " wrap stabilize effect" and fix the wobbling shot problem. Do you think it's still going to be wobbling? Thanks! Great video
Glad to find someone else sees this and not just me. As an MFT user, I really, really want to like Voigtlanders for their speed and build quality, and the clickless aperture and all the rest, but *every* time I view video tests I just can't get there on the image quality. It looks soft and lifeless. I mean, I'd honestly shoot on some 40 year old vintage lenses than this stuff (which is a shame because it's f.2 or f2.8 max). Everyone's aesthetic is different I guess; but I just don't find anything appealing about the image quality.
well, a) RUclips codecs do weird things, i wouldn't judge off RUclips demo's unless that's all you deliver to; b) Voigtlanders do have an aesthetic, its creamy and that's just what it is, but so do most other lens.
Funny that I just watched it thinking how disappointing it looked and then I checked the youtube settings and it was running at 480p (ffs) just switched to 4k and its a different story.
alibaba145 This was with wide angle lens, so a lot more depth of field. If you want those sweet bokeh shots then a longer lens like 50mm or more. Here the uploader had a 17.5mm equal to 35mm in F.F cameras. 17.5mm is a great one for a glidecam in dark situations.
+MUNIR SHEBA Hi there, for this Voigtlander 17.5mm f/0.95 lens. No, you don't need an adapter. Just make sure you purchase the "Micro Four Thirds mount" Cheers :)
Sorry mike I did not. :( I say your best bet is to go based on reviews and just like anything else, putting in more money for the better brand is almost always the safe way for product results. BUT I'm a cheapo and I went with test ND Filters with no name brands. Gluck with your choice on an ND Filter.
I use a 58mm Diameter Tiffen variable ND filter & use adaptors for each different lens I use. The Tiffen retails for about £100 UK pounds & is of very high quality

There's something really calming about this video, thanks for your effort.
Very calming. I agree
Nice job with this. Thank you for the variety of shots and apertures!
Very nicely done, very professional, surprisingly good results with a 'consumer' GH4. Thank you for sharing the equipment and settings used.
Very cool and great music choice!
Love the night scenes. I've got this lens and the 25mm and I really think they're perfect with MFT. Best of both worlds-modern tech on the body and a classic film look in the lens.
Have the same lens and really like it. Nice to see how it performs at 4K UHD

The Noktons are incredible lenses.
GORGEOUS !!! This lense is a killer ! GH4 is a very good DSLR for a relative cheap price. I will definitely get it soon.
Well worth the money. The Voigtlander is a low light beast
WOW...very impressive work!
Awesome video, awesome channel, subscribed
Wow! Goes to show that image quality has much more to do with the lens than the camera body.
Voigtlander glass is exceptional I have 3 of them 10.5mm, 17.5mm & the 42.5mm and am using a GH2 & GH4

did you have to do something to compensate for pincushion distortion or does the footage just look this good?
man at 0.46 sec this is place where van damme doing split in movie bloodsport
Nice ! :) loved watching that movie growing up

I got this lens too on a GH2 Awesome lens.. I Like the video
Amazing shots, kinda like the GH4 but the A7s will be my choice :)
What size ND filter did you use? Beautiful images, thank you.
72mm?
Excellent.

Me too! I have found both lenses second hand for around the same price. I'm leaning towards the 17.5mm at this stage. Did you end up getting a lens.
This lens on a GH4 is a sony 7s killer !!!
The only pb is that there's no stabilisation possible
It's good but no way a 7s Killer. They are entirely two different cameras. I'm using this Lens on my GH2 and it is a low light beast of a lens. GH5 for me next after I purchase the 10.5mm Voigtlander
Add a speed booster and you will be almost there
Have just Purchased the GH4 (NEW) & a Voigtlander 10.5mm F/0.95. It can handle low light well, but not as good as a Sony Sony 7s
I don't understand why people make these kind of comments.
INVESTMENT TIME!!!!😍😍😍
You won't regret it
I am watching at 42 inch 4k screen. The left and right edge looks blurry at infinity focus even at f5.6, at 2.8 very blurry. Definitely showing its age.
I try not to watch my old videos. Cos they all shot very badly 😅
I love my 25mm .95 voigtlander, the others are too expensive though.
Sold my 25mm Voightlander with regret and will replace it soon.
Nice shots. Nothing hand held?

That is some very sharp picture and I know the Voigtlander isn't the reason. Now imagine it with the renowned Panny 20mm f/1.7. 4K rulez
Believe me the Voigtlander is a big part of the reason for sharpness and quality
Now waiting for
GH4 + Metbones XL Speedbooster + Nokton 0.95
That would be incredible. I have the 17.5mm F/0.95 but not the Metabones
Is the lens actually this soft, or is that a result of the settings and export? The entire video looks like an HD project that's been up-rezed to UHD.

maybe because he was shooting wide open

What exact ND filter did you use for this? I want to buy this lens and match it with your ND filter. Thanks in advance.
Did you ever get your answer on the best ND filter? I'm curious as well.

Picture Profile?
can i put metabones with this lens?
Yes you can
looking back on what I said about using metabones with Voigtlander, I think Metabones are for full frame lenses like Nikon for use on a MFT camera
nice !
