I have two large bags of home goods in my trunk to donate that I gathered last week. I know I won’t miss any of it because I can’t even remember what I decluttered! 😂🎉❤
“I want to keep it, just in case,” said my ex-husband ALL THE TIME. He was what I called a “borderline hoarder.” He would get furious if I threw anything out…even if the item was broken! He had lots of control issues…I’m so much happier now!
As a seasoned decluttering amateur who has parted with thousands of items, I haven't re purchased or regretted any of it. Most of the items. I can only recall from photos I took of those items. I bet most people couldn't list all the items they decluttered, that speaks volumes. I do have some just in case items I can revisit. Thanks, Candice 😊
Im trying to declutter but my husband is a hoarder which is really hard for me to live with. I decided to start decluttering just my own things. It's definitely a journey! Thank you for the motivation! Great videos!
This was really helpful! Thanks! I've read others talk about the regret of keeping things-- keeping an item in question is not a safe way to never feel regret.
Omg I have those SAME pantry labels I used the ones I needed and still kept test but after seeing your video I gotta get rid of the rest especially the ones I don't even have that food for to label right now 😀
I got rid of a pyrex pie dish because I never made pie from scratch. Then one xmas I decided to try a sugar free pumpkin pie. I was able to buy a prettier pie dish from thrift for $4. Still a win in my book.😊
Can you make the pot pie in a square or oval baking dish? I use a 9x13 to make enough for our big family. We use the Good and Beautiful curriculum for our 4 kids, too ,and love it!
The only thing I've missed is a set of purple velvet chairs. When we moved we decided to let them go because we just had too many other pieces of furniture because we were consolidating two households I still think about those chairs, but even as I look around our house, there is no place they would have belonged, and I would have ended up annoyed at them.
I've decluttered so much the only things I have rebought was a kids game that I declutter before I had my 2nd chd which cost £6 and a book which I bought secondhand for 30p. So I'm totally ok with letting things go because it is worth it
Love your videos! I like it when content creators talk through the thought processes when decluttering...Could you talk about what your thoughts process was when you decluttered the blue pie dish?
Also, once you do buy the pie dish again, you'll know not to declutter it this time. It isn't like you're going to declutter it every year and have to keep repurchasing it. You'll appreciate it more instead of constantly wondering if you'd be better off without it.
In another video that i can't find,(!) You showed your laundemry space. I'm not only short but too old to use the high shelf all of the time, so i got those under-the-shelf hanging baskets and only store extra up high. I do decant my vinegar, which I buy by the gallon but don't want to lift all of the time.
Hi my name is Michelle I am Joe's wife. I am a foster mom the kids are 5 and 6. Do you have any advice on decluttering the kid's bedroom? I hate the bunk bed.
I’m not sure if it’s guilt. I think my rationale so often is I “COULD” use that. But then it’s like you can’t think of what you’d ever need if for “right now.” Hmm. I do wonder what the root of that really is tho. I think for me personally, it’s more about wanting to be “prepared.” But what really is “preparedness” and what really is just something else (a fantasy goal or fear of calamity, or trying to predict your own future, or guilt for not being able to figure out how to make good use of a thing, fear of making a mistake/not making good decisions, not really knowing your true self in a focused way, etc) that isn’t really going to serve you? OMG, I have those exact labels….and now I also can’t think of how to use them. Lol. I can’t even remember what any of my “regret rebuys” are other than maybe a PYREX food storage bowl (after I learned that capital PYREX vs pyrex and others are made better and are more shatter proof…and they don’t make them like that anymore, so you have to go hunt them down used lol).
Question your spices, how do you see what you have? [as a person that does not have the knowledge of how you placed them in the cabinet] you have rows of them. This to me, l find it very time consuming and hard to find what l’m looking for.❤
I've gotten to where I toss a lot more in the garbage and recycle bin than donate anymore. I don’t care how cute/$ spent/etc.. I've seen SOOO many hoarder/collectors who spend every day/all day going into debt to buy misc. "Stuff" from thrift stores... yes that's a condition, however I feel MANY shop to fill voids and boredom - I know as that was myself.
I think of the 20/20 rule. If you can replace it in under 20 minutes for under $20, risk getting rid of it. We have replaced fewer items this way than replacing items we couldn't find due to the amount of clutter. (Ask me why we had 3 identacle Christmas tree stands)
Give it to one of your daughter’s friends (mom of course) then it will be out of your house & you know it will be used & enjoyed elsewhere. If your daughter can use it I’m sure one of her friends would be able to. If I can make myself feel good about my choice then it doesn’t bother me to let it go.
One thing I've learned decluttering is... do NOT offer your clutter to others to make it seem easier or a good choice. 99.99% of the time, no one wants or needs more "stuff" in their homes. Family members do the most clutter shuffling and guilt tripping to keep stuff.

I can totally identify with the labels! 😂
Great video, and very helpful to me, as I do tend to be a “just in case” sort of person.

Could I use it? Yes. But WILL I use it? No. It's got to go.
Amen to that!!

I chuckled to myself, that you kept the lables, And today, I found them!!😂 They are gone now! Thank you❤
Thank you so much, I needed to hear this!
The manipulatives are manipulating you to keep them!

Wayfare!!! We LOVE it!
What home school curriculum do you use? I like that book you showed.
The Good and the Beautiful ❤
Really nice video! i was wondering if i could help you edit your videos and make them more engaging as well as it will save your time.
That's very true

The only thing i had to replace after declutterring was a rolling pin.
❤
The label looks like it says arbrio rice. Really?
