Sad to say the bit with the car reminds me of myself and stuff that won't work. I want to destroy it at times. Cleese does it to perfection, hilarious.
I think that the dislikes were because it ended sooner than it should have. There's still another line that Basil says, in answer to the question, where's the duck? He'll reply, duck's off! That was the punchline for this episode, you see.
I think I saw the owner of the house on the corner "emerging" from the front door, (just the head), for a couple of seconds and then retreated hastily, probably because the film crew signalled her to go back indoors! Priceless!
That street is Lapstone Gardens in Harrow, North West London. The other street to the right Mentmore Close. This location is pinned on Google Maps as "Basil Fawlty's car thrashing site". I looked this up after noticing the houses and footpath in the background and I knew it was suburban London.
Funny how far they went from different filming locations. I mean is the hotel they use not near the sea somewhere? I always thought it was... Then you tell us this scene was filmed up in London. I wonder why they did that...

Top scene! Thanks for sharing his temperament is OutathisWorld! Fawlty Towers Basiiiiiiiiil!!!! Sybil connie Emanuele 🎸🎤 All cast star's One Leg Up 🏃♀️🏃 UP🎉 perhaps FROM MONTY!🎉🎉😂🎉🎉🎉
Every man can relate to this... as embarrassing as it is to admit. But there is something about a grown ass man yelling at an inanimate object that will never not be funny.
Basil: Right, that's it! I've had enough! You've tried it on just way too often! Right, well, don't say I hadn't warned you! I layed it on the likes of you time and time again! Right, well, this is it! I'm gonna give you a damn good thrashing!
The way Manuel applauds for Polly at the end of her song 😂😂😂
Had me 🤣🤣🤣
Aye, bless him.
"start! you vicious bastard"
its like he is trying to get his own internal motor up and running
"This is it, I'm gonna give you a Damned Good Thrashing" 😆

Best comedy ever made.every charachter flawless delivery lead by the insanley brilliant basil fawlty.
Sad to say the bit with the car reminds me of myself and stuff that won't work. I want to destroy it at times. Cleese does it to perfection, hilarious.
haha me too....also cuss at my kitchen cupboard doors that hit me in the head lol
That’s why I love it, we are human and sometimes ridiculous. It’s comedy gold!
1 person gave his car a damn good thrashing
Rain + British Leyland = Endless problems..... 😉
British leyland+driving in general=a useless hunk of metal
The Best of British! (the comedy)
"Come on...........COME ON!"
"SssTART! STARRRT YOU VICIOUS...B*STARD!"
😂😂😂😂😂
John Cleese brilliantly articulates what I wished I'd said when my car broke down.
My car is a vicious bastard too.
The duck didn't want to be trifled with...i'll see myself out.
Have you been peeking? If you can pass my coat on the way out!
10 dislikes were from all the broken down cars that Basil gave a damn good thrashing.
I think that the dislikes were because it ended sooner than it should have. There's still another line that Basil says, in answer to the question, where's the duck? He'll reply, duck's off! That was the punchline for this episode, you see.

The chef’s Francois from The Pink Panther films and Blofeld’s henchman in Thunderball 😂
Start!....Start! You vicious bastard come on!! 🤣🤣🤣
Basil Fawlty is my customer service idol!
Yes! He raises customer service to an entirely new level.
2:48 one... two... threeRIIGHT!
Brilliant.
No pause between the 3 and the "RIIGHT!"
I always wanted to hear the rest of Sybil's story about "Uncle Ted and his crate of brown ale"... 🤣🤣🍻🍻
Pollys singing tho 🤣🤣
Rotf!!! John Cleese is possibly the funniest human being on planet earth.
" I'm just a girl who cant-say-no,.." 😆
🎵I'm in a terrible fix🎶
Dude you cut off the punch line "ducks off"
What about the duck Fawlty?
Fucks off
Basil should have given Andre a damned good thrashing for recommending the drunken souse.
And for accidentally taking the duck and swapping it for the trifle.....
🚙 Start you Vicious Bastard!!! 😂🤣 👍
Look at that street behind the car. Not one car insight. Looked beautiful! Lol

Phillip Willoughby seriously? Lol

@@phillipwilloughby5013 wow I always thought it was somewhere down on the south coast😊
Basil Fawlty: Who's for trifle?!
Mr Hall: What about the duck, Fawlty?!
Basil Fawlty: Duck's off sorry!
Mr Twitching struggling to hold back his laughter..
That place where this scene was shot is in Mentmore Close in Harrow, also the close now has bollards up ! So no one can copy it! Lol 😂😂
3:09. Resident of the house looks out to see what the shouting is about!
First time I've noticed that after all these years !!
I'm glad they left it in - it's more realistic
John Cleese is Classic!!! 😂🤣👍
First time i saw him thrashing that car..... I seriously laughed my ass off!!!!!!!
So very English….
the episode is called a gourmet night :)
Corner of Lapstone Gardens and Mentmore Close in Kenton, north-west London, if anyone's interested.
Cheers.
I was, thanks!
There’s a marker on Google Maps.
And "Andre's restaurant" was at the top of Preston Road in Wembley ...
Was just about to ask this, should be a blue plaque there !!
Bazil treated that car like a kid not going to bed 🤣
Some of the funniest shit I've ever seen.....great memories from my time in Germany in the eighties!
Cleese is Pure Gold here , Absolutely hilarious 😂🤣
I love how Manuel and Polly are supporting each other cus they were not good, but they tried to make it good, and Manuel with Sybil's jokes!
Just like my home office printer yesterday. I was about to give it a damn good thrashing Office Space style.
Andrew Sachs (Manuel) narrated the "Walking with Cavemen" series on the BBC. Such a surprise to hear his natural voice
2:33 What I felt like doing to my first car when it broke down
The way he looks for the duck inside the trifle is beyond hilarious.
Manuell 3:34 😂😂😂😂😂
Every mechanic knows this feeling.
I cant stop laughibg when he says Start your vicious bastard 😂😂
2:34 my favorite part
When your Wi-Fi Modem doesn't get you connection after losing it while playing Fortnite
one time i pictured inspector morse doing something similar by hitting the jag with a tree branch lol
Did he call the Austin car a Vicious Bastard?? 😁😊🙂😸😹
He must believe it's a mule (or an animal that is sapient)
this is he best episode of the lot when Basil beat the car with the tree branch I was in stitches for fifteen minutes.
Fawlty at his hysterical best.
Top scene! Thanks for sharing his temperament is OutathisWorld!
Fawlty Towers
Basiiiiiiiiil!!!!

Polly is such a lovely woman! 💐
Legendary scene
Love British humor!
I've owned a few cars that I wanted to thrash like this.
Yep. You and me, both.
The best bit , thrashing the car British Humour at its best.
Agree 100%
Every man can relate to this... as embarrassing as it is to admit. But there is something about a grown ass man yelling at an inanimate object that will never not be funny.
At 0:19 you can see a dent in the lid of the serving tray! 🤣🤣
Great comedy
Note BBC stagehand crouching low on-set at 0:27 & 0:35.
clockleader nice spotting
Eagle eyes.
Also note someone sticking their head out of the house door to see Basil giving his car a 'damn good thrashing' at 3:09 and 3:17!
Not the kind of thing you notice until you are very familiar with the scene, and can see it up close and in slow motion.
START YOU VICIOUS BASTARD!
comedy at its best
ive got a 1964 Austin 1100 Brilliant car still going strong
Funny how guests can't hear bazil shouting in the kitchen.
When basil runs into the hotel and has to turn quickly into the kitchen makes me laugh for some reason
Miss him
i cannot believe it bazil's car didn't work
Hilarious! Brilliant!
While i know its a comedy played for laughs. I actually do wonder sometimes what happened after some of the end situations. Funny to contemplate
The funniest thing about this is the word 'full'
Five star service !
2:44 how I feel when my Google Projecotr didn't work last night
Playing my summer car in a nutshell.
You can tell it follows Monty Python
Look at that trifle under the lid. Not one duck in sight. Looked beautiful! Lol
1. Mentmore Close is actually a dead end in real life
2. That corner now has bollards on it to prevent people from recreating this.
At the end of the day, Deadpool did right by this.
Basil: Right, that's it! I've had enough! You've tried it on just way too often! Right, well, don't say I hadn't warned you! I layed it on the likes of you time and time again! Right, well, this is it! I'm gonna give you a damn good thrashing!
So True Of British Cars Of That Period
They still junk. My friend always by them he is an old mechanic i say why he say because there are so many interesting problems to figure about
That scene where he thrashes the car is iconic... almost as much as the Hitler walk in "the Germans"! :)
0:25 crew member kneeled down behind door ha
Gourmet Night and the American were my 2 favorite ....and the Hotel Inspector ... 😆😆
The one with the lord. Of course they are all great.
This is it I'm Going to Give you a Dambed Good Thrashing!!! 🌿 😂🤣👍
from the 1st season; wish we coulda had at least a 3rd 😆👏
Wish we got the planned 13th episode.
Basil Flips!
How did this clip get 33 dislikes?
They missed out on the Duck...
Funny to think Connie was singing in her native Texan. Total babe-Prunella is also.
Great
I thought of hitting my car like that
is it just me or why in the whole world is there a black 16 in the start?
What is that other in picture footage in the last frame?
lol my fivret part is that the car wont start
What... about... the duck, Fawlty?
One minute it's dry..the next it's wet....as Manuel would say "look"!!!
We have cloudburst's of rain, then the sun comes out....
I could never understand why it was called Gourmet *Night* when clearly the location shots were filmed in broad daylight.
You can't have it both ways.
Maybe it was summer time?
Can someone put Manuel's face over the car?
Basil needs a new car.
You cut off ducks off for an advert for Disney
1:55 Stupid car!
2:40 The car moves sideways.....
