  • In this Physics (Ray optics) video lecture in Hindi for class 10, 12 we discussed the sign convention for spherical lenses. The conventions are -
    1) All distances on the principal axis are measured from the optical center.
    2) The distances measured in the direction of incident rays are positive and all the distances measured in the direction opposite to that of the incident rays are negative.
    3) All distances measured above the principal axis are positive. Thus, height of an object and that of an erect image are positive and all distances measured below the principal axis are negative.
    We considered few examples in this video how to use sign convention. In one of the examples we discussed on thin lens formula where we clarified convention number 1 and 2. In the second example, evaluating the magnification of a lens, we explained how to consider the third convention.

    Sir I have a doubt plz reply
    We had already derived the formula for convex lens
    The formula that came was
    (1/R1 +1/R2)
    But there we already placed the negative sign of R2 and made it
    (1/R1-1/R2)
    So why we again take a negative sign

      @Sumonlaly95 4 года назад +1

      For lens law in every time u should always remember> 1/v - 1/u = 1/f
      For get universal lens law(above eqn) we take 1st sign....after this, for individualy lens formula we take sign again...
      If u not take sign again u don't get individualy lens eqt.....
      1st sign for universal lens law nd 2nd sign for individualy lens law.

    SIR, hamne, jb lens ki, image , and object, ki formula banaya tha , tab sin ko , use kar ke ham ko mila tha 1/v--1/u=1/f, lekin , jab ham numericals karte hai, tab virtual object ke liye , ham faier se, ' u' ka value negative kyu rakhte hai?? Ham ne to pehle hi 'u' ko negative manke, or 'v' ko positive or 'f', ko positive manke hamne formula, banaya tha(for only bi Convex lens ), pls give me the answer 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

    • @darklord5058
      @darklord5058 6 лет назад +1

      inverted matlab ulta or virtual matlab not real. jo images plane mirror me banti hai wo esa lagta hai ki wo mirror ke ander hai woh real nahi hain kyuki wo mirror ke ander ban rahi hain matlab wo virtual hai. jo image spoon ke ander banti hai wo inverted hoti hai or lekin dusri side per sidhi
