i just love youtube for showing me small channels like this. it feels like the good old days of youtube when people were just rambling to the camera about stuff. no fancy editing or pro production - just real people. yt newwave kinda

I enjoy the fact that people still make videos where they speak on topics they are so passionate for. Also great video really liked the progression of pictures over the years kept me engaged in order to see how it looks like at the end.

Wow the flip cameras! I remember those! I don't really have the childhood camera I had when I started taking doll photos. It was a little pink Canon camera. I literally used it until it crumbled to pieces. That's why I don't have it anymore. I feel like some of the 2000's Canons weren't made with the best materials. I dusted off my sister's one which was supposed to be an improved model in blue and it too is crumbling to pieces. They were made with a metal shell, but it's just a thin covering over a plastic body, and when the body crumbles, everything just falls apart. I have a little Olympus film camera from the 70's my grandfather gave me and it works great. I have some doll photos from that. I also have a newer waterproof Olympus from 2019 that I got and I use for some casual stuff and some close up flower photos. Most of my doll photos come from my digital Nikon camera I got second hand. I use it with some old Nikon lenses I got for cheap. I also have a film Nikon that takes the same lenses. I just swap the lenses between the two. I'm sort of lazy to take film photos. I probably should do that more. It's kind of fun

Didn't expect to come upon this gem of a channel. I really like how you have a personal attachment to each camera, very refreshing in the world of specs and numbers. I mostly shoot film and love the analog process, but I might have to pick up my digicam after this! Keep up the great work

I’m liking this little community of camera nerds that has gathered on this video’s comment section!
I shoot pretty much exclusively film for my photography, and my favourite cameras in my collection are my Minolta 9000 (the only manual-wind autofocus SLR ever made!) and my Yashica Samurai (a weird, bulky half-frame point-and-shoot SLR with a really nice lens on it)

The canon AE-1 was manufactured between 1975 and 1981. It is a shutter priority and manual exposure camera. I owned one some years ago. It was really nice to use. Personally, there is just something nice about using a camera that a smart phone can’t achieve.

Really nice enjoyable video. I have a sort of similar history but last year bought up a bunch of sony handycams of different tape formats and some other brands too which record to internal hard drive. I also have a few cameras, some working and some not completely which are like tv/cinema type ones from the early 2000s. But the last couple weeks I been watching online auctions like in actual auction houses where you can bid and there's clearances of people's old film cameras and even some DSLRs and stuff and it's become quite expensive and space consuming. I just picked up some Praktica ones and a Zenit one but learning how they work is a whole other learning curve to explore. I may have to part with some things but I will probably do something like this too showing all the different models. It sounds like you have some more restraint in not wanting to collect too many similar cameras

I shoot an AE-1 for 35mm and a rolleicord for medium format. film is fs a little strange, as there's no immediate feedback on if you exposed correctly. the AE-1 has a really accurate light meter, assuming its not broken, so trusting that will usually yield some good results. also, little tip, if you want to "push" or "pull" your film ISO, you will have to do it for the whole roll, not just a few photos. fuji 400 has just started to be stocked in Walmart, so that's a great place to start.

about the minolta, you could cut a 35mm film to size, there are tools you can buy to do so and I guess they are easier to find and cheaper than the actual film. Developing shouldnt be hard also as it isnt different to any other film

i may do a similar video myself, i also have a couple compact cameras i've used throughout the years, EVIL/mirrorless cameras and a (broken) film camera lol. altho maybe it'd make sense for me to include phones cause i've used phones to take pictures way more often
