Clear and succinct explanation. I fixed my AC in as much time as it took to watch your video. Gives me confidence to take on other AC issues rather than have to wait for expensive service. Thank you!

My experience is that the Capacitor is the component most prone to failure. Good video though! Thx

Thank you this video helped me troubleshoot my outdoor unit. I had a brief power surge, and then the unit was blowing hot air all of a sudden. I reset everything and nothing worked and it was only blowing hot air. I tried troubleshooting for hours until I came upon your video. I opened up the unit and looked at the relay and everything was clean and then traced the compressor wires back to the breaker box and noticed the wires that lead to the compressor to turn on were the same color as my thermostat wires and were all weather cracked and there was a short in the wires, they were exposed and touching and i think i may have tapped them with the weed eater while landscaping. I respliced everything, taped off and zip tied and went right back to the unit blowing ice cold air.. thank man for taking the time to make this video. Saved me bigtime and also taught me about my outside unit, youtube saves the day once again! 👊

Would the 4 people that did not like this excellent video, please identify yourselves. I'd like to see what a real nitwit looks like and, state the reason you found something objectionable to the video. I wish all instructional videos were this clear and concise. Great job!

It was probably someone that works for a AC company that was mad that someone is teaching people how to fix their own equipment

Good and accurate advice. But what got you a thumbs-up was your closing line, "God bless you..." And may God bless you, too.

Very clear, good job. If you can test your fuses, breaker, capacitor and relay switches, you will most likely solve 80% of the potential issues. The challenge in some states is purchasing a capacitor, they will only sell to a licensed HVAC contractor.

Thanks brother Paul! My unit is 15 years old. The valves that hold the freon are bad. The coils are corroded and the evap pipe has broken off. After a new blower motor and a few capacitors, it's time to replace this 15 yr old unit.😭
    Blessings to you.

Hi, Paul this is Jermey McGuire. You forgot to mention the capacitor on the air conditioner.”
The capacitor is another part Will out out most often, you’ll have symptoms like.
The condenser fan running with no compressor, or no condenser fan but the compressor runs or no condenser fan and compressor not working.

So, if its not the capacitor, how do you know the relay switch is bad? Just by visually inspection?

In certain areas of the country ants that are somehow attracted to electricity or spark burns on the contacts will accumulate in the relay. Cleaning them out and sprinkling Dursban inside the relay cavity was the solution, but I’ve heard that Dursban is no longer available…check into this as a solution especially if fire ant mounds are nearby.

I keep spare capacitors for my units in my garage. Imo they fail more than the relays.

What was your root problem? My condenser turns on and the fan spins, but the air inside is not cold. Is that what you fixed by replacing the relay switch?

    • @proclaimliberty2000
      @proclaimliberty2000  2 месяца назад

Nothing on my air conditioner would work including the fan on the condenser. Once I replaced the relay switch then everything ran fine. As long as your blower motor is working, it sounds to me like your system might be low on refrigerant due to a leak. You may also have a failed capacitor.

How do you know if it’s the relay switch?

    • @proclaimliberty2000

When the AC is activated, the switch will not visually engage.

How do you determine what type of relay switch to buy? Do I just take a pic of it and go to my local shop? Or are there model numbers on the cover that show you which type I would need to buy?

This is not easy 😭 my ac is barely blowing. It's already 88° inside and it went out 3 hours ago. I cleaned it with a pressure hose and soap. Shut the power off to do that. I'm a single mom so I don't have any of those tools
