Arunav Chakraborty I heard this in the opening titles and had to restrain myself from preordering the soundtrack for just this. Then I heard Let It Go, and I rethought my purchase. Not that Let It Go is bad. Just that I didn't need it in my playlist when it'd be on every station for the next decade.
I agree with you 100%!! This is easily my favorite song from the movie! I love peaceful chorus songs, and I could honestly listen to this forever... :)
We’re doing this song for choir and I’m a bass so that’s been the past two months for me. Doesn’t help that the bass section is having to hard carry the entire choir cause the treble sections don’t do anything and there are two whole tenors.
Fun fact: this _isn't_ actually a Norwegian song. This is based off of a Sámi "yoik" - the indigenous people of Lappland and other northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Many of them herd reindeer for a living. They're a lovely people with a rich, vibrant culture that's recently had a much needed resurgence after centuries of oppression.
So... you technically told a partial lie then. Northern Norway is still Norway. Lol. I'm jk btw (for those of you who feel the need to try to be a white knight at this )

I just did it, and i felt like I was somewhere else. Had it on full volume, and I never pressed pause. It was beautiful. If you like it some much on one track, try two.
I can't believe I used to be scared of this when I was a kid and really prefered let it go to this masterpiece... I really had zero taste, because THIS is the best song of the whole movie omggg
I have no clue why but every time my niece hears this song she stops whatever she is doing wheather its crying or eating she just stops and starts smiling.
Not quite. It's from the Saami people. It's called Yolking, it's a form of chanting. But the rhythm is set to Scandinavian hymn. If you don't know who they are, look it up. They are a unique group of people. Kristoff is actually one of them.
+Sapphire Star. I don't mean to bring too much "politics" (if you can even call it that) into this, but I'd just like to say that one of the greatest disasters of modern culture is that Europe has come to be known as simply "white", removing quite a bit of the recognition of the incredible "diversity" (as people call it, I've grown to dislike the word though) among cultures there. When I was in the theater listening to this, I was at first confused when I heard it (as I had been told the movie was set in Scandanavia, and this did not immediately bring that to mind). Then I remembered the Sami, and was very quite pleased. It also saddened me though, because simultaneously I realized that likely no one else in the theater would recognize the same fact. I guess what I mean to say is, I appreciate your recognition of this. Really, more people should know.
MrLittlelawyer Thanks. I'm aiming for a degree in history and learning of various cultures. It's not surprising most may not know of them because the Saami tend to keep to themselves. There's many groups of people out there that people have never heard of before, mostly because they are reclusive or nothing big happens to have our eyes upon them. Example, have you ever heard of the Kalash people, an ethnic group near the Pakistan/Afghanistan border?
Actually yes, I have heard of the Kalash, however beyond the name and location, I don't know anything else. I knew due to "The Man Who Would Be King", and my curiosity to see if anybody remotely like portrayed in that book/film actually existed, however beyond seeing seeing if there was a people in that area roughly matching the description/having rumored connections to Alexander the Great, I haven't done anymore research.
