What i love about Mikel is that he is not as rigid as Pep- who controls everything like a chessboard- I always think of Thierry's story where he scored a goal but Pep hooked him at half time because TH wasn't supposed to be in that position when he scored. Mikel has learnt from that and changes what we do depending on the situation. What i mean by that is he's teaching the players to recognise what needs to be done and change accordingly- with a little help from himself from the touchline.
This was a fantastic pod from the both of you, love your energy! This is me saying YES! to you two nerding out and breaking down the really technical presentations and theses of football philosophy. Bring me MOAR!!! ily 👍
The idea of Calafiori being the Maverick is so true. It looks like he’s been given so much freedoms to get forward and find spaces that defenders and midfielders struggle to pick up, because no one expects a defender to have that level of freedom that high up. With his technical quality, I can see us using him to make an on-ball impact rather than just to be there as a distraction
Calafiori will be our Beckenbauer ❤️ He is a superstar, on and off the pitch. I predict some celebrity girlfriend and he becomes an A-Lister in the sport
"It's a difficult thing to quantify" @38:04 such is the nature of sports, we love it cos we can see it, but its those intangibles, those internals, which are the main drive and separation when margins are so thin at the top in a game of centimeters and inches..
He is always great off the ball and adds pace.I need a little more evidence to be convince he is ''back'' or what we need on that opposite side to Saka to go to that next level.
That Thanksgiving opening, lol. First, Oct 14th was Thanksgiving in Canada, separate from the US which is not until 28th Nov (other regions/countries have their own separate dates too). Second, it's a colonial celebration of thanks for the original colonists' arrival in the Americas and celebration of harvest. Dinners traditionally consist of food indigenous to the Americas. So no, we do not observe Thanksgiving in the UK. We have our own harvest traditions (usually revolving around food donations) but there is no holiday/feasting for these. Bonfire Night/Guy Fawkes Night has traditionally been the UK's big autumn celebration although this has been overtaken by Halloween (largely imported from the USA). Our big feast is Christmas dinner, which is very close to a Thanksgiving turkey dinner.
@@kunimitsune177 while I agree that Halloween is originally from early Western Christianity, the modern celebration has very much been influenced by North America (Hollywood, TV etc). It has essentially bounced right back at us in the 20th/21st Century
Legit was so thrown off by the lack oof Thanksgiving live that I forgot my pod schedule and panicked hahaha. Most of my family uses it as another way to have a big family reunion most of the time. -G
Martinelli prop session- let's Go!! That kid loves the club as much as any Hale end kid. He has been running himself to the ground for the club since the day he arrived. Him & Saka should get the same love but sadly don't. 25 G/A season incoming!
When I lived in LA I used to get asked every year, unironically by the way, what we did in England for the 4th July. That being said Thanksgiving is the absolute best holiday ever. 4 day weekend, deep fried turkey, drinking from 10am - the absolute bollocks mate
Credit to you Giorge on calling out yourself from the summer about the Maverick issue. You did rant about it for several weeks (which after the first 2 times was getting hard to listen to, almost soap-box like. Alex was the same). Yes, it was very clear Calafiori was going to be that maverick. I guess the moral is...trust Arteta 🎉
I still don't think I got everything I wanted in the final third but always open to trying to understand different perspectives which is what we will always try to do. I think trust is a given just trying to be objective which means most of the time it will be praise but at times like all of us may be things I disagree with. -G
You guys are creating a great channel. But can you two try to reduce echo from your mic's. With both of you suffering from it takes the shine off a very good podcast. Keep up the good work
@TheCannonPod fingers crossed you can improve it. Would sound proof panel set up behind camera to stop echo off the wall help. I know Tom Canton has it all set up for 8am shows. Perhaps a mobile panel you can take with you
Appreciate the feedback mate- defs trying to learn the balance on hosting which is a different hat to what I'm used to + different to what I'm comfortable with. Hoping I can get more comfortable wth more exposure to get that balance right more often. -G
I feel a player is best aggregated based on their past 20 games. And based on that, Martinelli took a dip. We've made excuses for him (I did too) because we love him. But he really dropped off, truth be told. And a lot of that had to do with a loss of confidence. I feel his recent upturn in form has more to do with him finding his confidence again rather than the 'environment'.
@@pawanbastakoti9978 This. Dynamicas changed significantly on the left side last season, which coincides with gabi's dip directly, yes hes lost confidence but ignoring the structual and personelle changes that had a massive impact on his form would be wrong. Look at Luis Diaz as an example of how small stuctural changes can "unlock" a player.
Great episode content-wise, but some constructive criticism. Rohan - slow down, feels like you’re rushing. That may be from worry of getting interrupted (although I don’t think Giorge did that very often), but it feels like you are talking against a clock Giorge - it’s good to be prepared, but also let the conversation stray into other areas, even if you originally planned it to be later in the pod. It’s obviously a bit of a balancing act, but don’t let a plan affect the free flowing conversation that best suits podcasts

Isn’t Thanksgiving originally a white North American colonial tradition? I know the American one is celebrating the landing of the Mayflower and the Pilgrims. Dunno who the Canadians celebrate.
We don't have Thanks giving. Its a yank thing! Celebrating the landing of the founding fathers and overcoming their first struggles in the New World... 🙂

We can do that!

Also great job hosting giorge you killed it absolutely
Nah he rants too much when he host. Let the other person talk.
Thanks brother :)

How does Rohan not know that English people don’t celebrate thanksgiving? 😅

Oh nooo. First pod with rohan and george and the audio is crap. Expected but sad 😅
The audio is decent enough for this sort of platform.
Will sort for next time! - A

Thanks giving in England - R U serious!!!!

Why in the world will there be a thanks giving in the UK? 😂😂😂😂

Can anyone tell me where to find the Miguel Molina lecture?

RVP for Havertz? Cannot believe it. Henry for Martinelli is only correct answer.
