Usher in his prime. Best entertainer since MJ and there hasn’t been anything like him since he was on top. Sing live, sound good doing it and dance with energy. He had the respect of James and Michael. Top notch entertainer
While I don't hard disagree with you, I'd argue that Usher has constantly showed growth and maturity vocally since then. The music itself I'd call it prime Usher, but as a vocalist he has climbed
@@javaughnlemonius1418 Bruno Mars is a wannabe, a former Elvis impersonator with no original bone in his body. A nostalgia/tribute act, a wedding singer, a karakoe singer, a crusae singer nothing more nothing less and more importantly a CULTURE VULTURE 🤷🏾♂️
James must have been really impressed with Usher's band to have performed his own song with them playing; cuz he rarely performed with any band other than his own.
I strongly believe that there won't even be live performances at noteworthy awards shows because most of these new artists can't do anything live or even in the studio
Usher had the pleasure and honor to share the stage with MJ and JB, two of the biggest musical legends that ever walked the Earth. I'm mad jealous, seriously. But he is talented.
Usher has always been an incredible talent.. We've watched him grow, as he bares his soul in his music.. In the last several years he's been broadening his scope of music, like this James Brown, playing for Obama.. He is a world class performer
Fucking love Usher to bits. He is the most complete entertainer since Michael Jackson in terms of maintaining vocals with movement, as well musical impact within his charts and sales. Nobody has done it better since, no one.
***** Nope. That's a shallow generalisation on his most sucessful hits in recent years only. Usher is defintiley a superior vocalist than Justin, and better than Bruno. He just, in todays current makret, holds less commercial attention relative to the other two because of how many contemporary artists are on his lane (The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Miguel). Musically? Justin is extremly sappy and mediocre. Timblands solid productions save him, Usher has succeeded with an extremly diverse range of produceres because his own artistic creativity is what stands out on a record. From fusing R&B with Crunk using Lil Jon, towards fusing R&B with Edm using Diplo. His artistry is way more melodic and infectious, when it comes to either ballads or up-tempos. JT doesn't have a bigger dance song than "Yeah!", or a classic revolutionary soul song like "Climax". He gravitates mass apeal because he's white, like Sam smith, due to his high profile. Bruno has his own lane, with a bit of funk and soul, but i'd let him build a body of work. Usher's few generic Pop songs is what creats ur impression. Who told u Usher doesn't write? Usher does play instruments. Go look at the usage of drums on "Good Kisser", and the bass on "She Came To Give It To You". The quality of soul, and groove, charisma and sex appeal epitomises that he's a veteran. Usher has a way more of a raw essence to his showmanship. Back up vocalists, strong personell, nothing new to him. The problem is that ppl's perception keep on blending him with lesser black acts like Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Jason Derulo etc. JT and Bruno have an open lane, and can keep their target audience in their hand - nobidy merges with their identity. And R&B isn't their main genre, which has fallen off the mainstream radar. Hence why those 2 singles weren't successful. Pitchy? A little. Take a look at his "Twisted" performance on The Voice, or "This Ain't Sex" on Victoria Secret. As far as i see it, JT has never held singing and dancing as well as Usher by a subtantial margin, let alone separatley. Bruno is quite limited when u consider he only does footwork, he strives more for James Brown, then Michael Jackson.
Usher could have retired after the confession album it was to me one if his best. The new stuff is cool but that usher that was in this video would kill have these guys off performance wise including himself
once we had MJ, Prince and James Brown on one stage. then MJ and Usher. Then usher and James Brown. did they ever all get on one stage at the same time? that wouldve been fantastic.
Mann dat would have been crazy no I would have liked James brown Micheal Nd Prince on stage just dancing 😂 dat would make me soo happy I wished that happen tho
I don't know about you guys, but I feel very emotional every single time I listen to this song. And I listen to it since I was 10 (14 years ago). James Brown means so much to the black community and music. The godfather and the godson... Simply amazing!
Im the biggest Usher fan ever... He's just amazing. Flopped with the hat at the beginning, but him & James Brown on the same stage took all the attention off that.
The Godfather of Soul's Godsons of Funk/Soul: King of Pop MJ, Rip💖 Prince, Rip💜 MC Hammer Usher All were given the title by Soul brotha #1. He knew they had it (his influence) in them. May he Rip💖. All of them always had been great entertainers!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

Static Shock they didn't exactly perform it well.
Static Shock so true so true!!!
Usher did his thing. You share the stage with James Brown, you better be in top form. He damn sure was.
RIP Aaron Spears, the drumming on this blows my mind
I strongly believe that there won't even be live performances at noteworthy awards shows because most of these new artists can't do anything live or even in the studio
Ashkey Gii can you even imagine any of these supposedly "new" artists duin anything close to what Usher & Mr Brown did on that stage????...no way
4:35 That was so sweet James Brown said "The New Godson Usher"!!! BTW, This when they Grammy's was still poppin! :-D
I bet Usher has that rolijg in his mind forever, The Godfather called him the Godson
mannn James was still killing it 👏👏👏
Had no idea he was still moving like that a year before he passed.
Usher had the pleasure and honor to share the stage with MJ and JB, two of the biggest musical legends that ever walked the Earth. I'm mad jealous, seriously. But he is talented.
You heard JB say the new Godson before the clip went off
BIG FACTS!!! THATS CRAZY

Aaron Spears murdering the drums. Get ya ears up.
heeell yeah
First thing I peeped
i came to this video just for aaron
Awesome he dubbed him the new God son of soul! Usher deserves it.
For real!
RIP Aaron Spears. One of his best performances on drums here.
The 2006 modern drummer festival video with Aaron is just magic. In that one he transcends and changed the drumming community forever.
R.i.p James Brown

Eli C She hasn't commercially done it better, but she's a better stage performer though. I should'v specified male* lmao
Usher has mad talent but I also love JT as a performer. Seen him 6 times now and flawless each show.
spidermanbmw80 JT is a good all-rounded performer, but isn't challenging Usher, not vocally, nor as a dancer at all in my opinion.
+EduardoDaSilva I agree. Just voicing my equal admiration of JT

Usher got to perform with James Brown and Michael Jackson
James Brown called him the new God son, well there you have it. And it’s done ✅
Breezy wouldn't come close to prime Usher. Period
Boom!!
2:37 DAYUMM!!! I speak for all the ladies when I say: 🤰🏾🤰🏾🤰🏾
This sounds just like the studio version, crazy good
Honestly Usher sounds better live than the studio version. It's more authentic cause you can hear him working the vocals
Georgia's finest.
Old & new.
No doubt🎤🎵🔥
Usher killed that one. He was in his pocket!

Same here.
Usher had James tryna pop lock and glide 😂
So many people made money off of James Brown without giving thanks. GD shame on all of you. JB will always be the best.
💯💯💯💯💪🏿
Unbelievable is the fact that was one year before Brown died... at least I think 😶
JB still had the moves
You aint never seen a old rock n roller move like this in thier olden days, not even in thier prime. James Brown salute!
This is the worst camera work I haver seen of a live performance. The bald guy blocks us viewing James Brown and Usher’s dance moves
There will only be one deserving JB and that is JAMES BROWN.
i miss the old usher.
flawless by both of them. just really energetic fun and technically on point
WHAT A PERFORMER!!! Best entertainer since MJ!!
The greates , the only one James Brown 👏👏💪

This kinda warms my heart that usher got to perform with his biggest inspiration's inspiration. Does that even make sense? Well it does to me
It makes a lot sense. Usher paid his homage and respect to his predecessors and he was lucky enough share stage with them.
