Stephane’s love for skating is so pure, passionate and encompassing that it makes my heart melt. His emotional commitment to his students is truly exceptional. What really called my attention in this interviw is that rather than highligting his students progress in technique and competitive results he focuses in his answers on their overall personal development and joy in skating, which reflects his couching philosophy. It may not work for everytone but those who buy into it will not end their competitive careers prematurely or disappointed for lack of “objective” results. My admiration and respect for Stephane as a former top tier competitor, artist on ice, and guide for his students has no bounds.
These Team Champéry interviews were fantastic! Thank you so much! I hope Stéphane's students keep growing under his guidance because they are a joy to watch. It's great to see they are training in a healthy environment, and it's even better to hear how much they all look up to him!
Stephane reminds me of a great painter who has achieved so much in his art yet continues to grow by being challenged by his students and by his own “fears and limitations”….thus we see such incredible programs as Bitter Earth. It is so personal to him that he stumbles on his words in cautious explanation. But he is able to share it with us all, just as a maestro shares the contents of his soul through his art. Thank you for interviewing him and thank you for sharing, Stephane. I look forward this this season of skating as Stephane is the perfect coach….best wishes to him and all his students.
Stephane is always a pleasure to watch and listen to. The latest show numbers were amazing! Just a two-feet spin in the one of them, but so much drama 💔 Thank you!
Thank you for this great interview!!!! For me as an adult skater at the age of fifty, he is still an inspiration as a coach and a skater - watching him skate with his students, watching his joy and his passion on the ice is one of a kind, really infectious. In the sometimes harsh world of figure skating he is one of the friendliest, warm hearted, kindest and most caring persons I have ever met. Dear Stefane, I wish you all the best for the next season - as well as coach as as a skater- I hope to meet you at the rink in Telfs some day again! Lots of Love from Innsbruck! 😶 P.S.: Thank you sooo much for "saving" Shoma!😀😀😀
Yes, I still shiver at the thought what would have become of Shoma if he had stayed with Tuberidze (as seems to have been his plan because she produced results)😱
Stephane and Shoma are kindred spirits. Shoma has come into his own with him. I do think he has helped him not only with skating, but in so many other intangible ways too. He helps him find his confidence. Now, if only Shoma could speak English…
Not to take anything from Stéphane’s role, but just wanted to mention that Shoma’s mom has probably just as big a contribution. Her unwavering support is phenomenal! Of course, like many other parents of elite athletes. An example for all of us.
I loved the interview and I love Stéphane both as a performer and a coach. 💞 I love the joy and pride he has when he talks about his students.🥰 12:30 Wow Koshiro really grew up quite fast. 19:50 that fall reminded me of 'my body is a cage', it must have been painful but it adds a lot to the performance, 22:10 yeah it makes sense Thank you for the interview 💛✨ 🇵🇪

Stephane is a great person, athlete and coach! Love him and his art❤️
What a sweetheart! So thoughtful, kind and intelligent. All of this makes him a great coach I am sure.
