R.I.P. Eddie, this is as far as I know the first thrash song I heard. Never heard anything faster then this at the time and definitely no better shredder. In 1980 Eddie was pretty much the only shredder.
To the individual that posted this: Never knew this video existed until 2-minutes ago. You have my eternal thanks and gratitude. Again, Xmas arrives early!
Alex kicks serious as on this. My favorite track by my favorite drummer. Brilliant double kick, tom fills, cowbell, snare rolls, brilliant EVERYTHING! Masterful.
and sammy hagar will never write songs as fun, creative, unique or with the sense of humor as david lee roth has done. This was the fun, king of rock n' roll Van Halen
For ages, this was THE rarest VH video. Thanks for posting!!! Finally I can see it again. Now - WHY WHY was there a video made for one of their least commercial and weirdest songs (tho I love it). That chorus vocal.... geeeeez!!!
Never saw this video before. The pause feels longer on my old vinyl WACF... almost to the point of awkwardness... then slaps you in the face!! I always found the radio chatter to fit right in with the band's spirit. Just craziness.
BRUTALLY good fun. Being a drummer myself, I LOVE playing this one (yes, I can !) - NEVER fails to get my adrenaline going. Influential album (I mean it came out in '80/'81, I think) and I still think their best for EVERYTHING. Thanks for posting - rock on.
Alex's hair caught on fire in 1980 (yes, really) presumably from the flaming gong thing. Pics from that year often show his hair the shortest it was in the DLR era. I think Dave was poking fun.
Thnx for the post. Killer stuf. W.A. C.F. was my favorite VH album. They were still hungry and sounded like the grabbed a few cases of Schlitz, went the down basement and just let it rip.
L.A. .............I knew them back then before... they played my friends 16 birthday .. a pool party and we only paid them 50 bucks.. who knew? lmao... cali for the win.
This makes modern metal feel limp and un thought out! Listen to the power in that solo, thats why Ed's the man and allways will be. Set fire to your down tuned guitars and learn from the master.
I was listening to the new VH album, one of the more kick-ass songs like Bullethead or Outta Space. Well, it occured to me that during the parts where it's all instrumental, it's ALL Van Halen. You've got dad jamming with his son and brother, all 3 in time, all from the same school of music. Michael Anthony was great, but give Wolfie his props. He's playing bass behind Eddie and along with Alex, and he's just a kid. I like this new CD more than all the rest. Like this if you agree!
the video blows put the song is pure destruction. just when you thought Eddie is about to loose control on the guitar that quickly changes and he attacks like a raging dog. who else does this? No one!!!... Hail to the King
Like everyone else here has said: I had no idea this existed. It looks as though this is a "rough" edit of a video they tried to make but ended up in the can. Surely this wasn't played even on early MTV, it would've been too extreme. Plus, the song itself is one of Van Halen's heaviest tracks ever!
I had a video tape called the Lost VH videos, bought it at a record show back in the late 80's, and it had this video...it was so degenerated it was completely in B&W, I thought that was deliberate...a true gem !! thx !!
The intro reminds me of both Rising Force (by Yngwie Malmsteen) and Satch Boogie (by Joe Satriani). Hard to say Eddie didn't influence the entire era of shreddery.
Just dusted off WACF for a listen and was once again (after at least a couple of decades) highly entertained(not SO MUCH mind blown as in the 80's). Never seen the vid... thought this song was about WWII pilots... not nurses or surgery. and it don't matter anyway. ....
First time seeing this, looks very underground, like local TV channel 18 type production, peculiar and crazy all in one, but a great classic VH performance. g
Yeah, I agree with you on that. Mike was an awesome part of Van Halen but it's time to face the fact that he's out and Wolfie is in. I STILL have ADKOT in my car's CD player and listen to it just about every day.
I have to get my fix wit this every so often Thanks again for the post!!! Kudos my friend! Too cool...Micaheal A. still is a badass! in or out...! Maybe Wolfie will get a cold LOL!
I'm fifty years old I grew up with Van Halen and Mtv why haven't I seen this video before
Same here, same age as you, never seen this VH video before.
I am 68 and I still loving it ❤
The birth of thrash hard core.Van fukin Halen setting the bar where no band can ever reach
Van Halen was the soundtrack of my life growing up as a teenager in Hawaii🤙🏽
Fuck yeah women a children first Minnesota Minneapolis yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh
This shows VH were their own genre. They weren't glam, metal or thrash. They were just...well...Van Halen.
R.I.P. Eddie, this is as far as I know the first thrash song I heard. Never heard anything faster then this at the time and definitely no better shredder. In 1980 Eddie was pretty much the only shredder.
Listen to Riot Fire Down Under
*In 2023, Edward is still the only shredder.

This is a surprise! Who knew such a classic had an official unreleased video? Back when it was all about the music.
Alex kicks serious as on this. My favorite track by my favorite drummer. Brilliant double kick, tom fills, cowbell, snare rolls, brilliant EVERYTHING! Masterful.
the real van halen and women and children first...their best album
Hell yes!!! 100%
Indeed.
and sammy hagar will never write songs as fun, creative, unique or with the sense of humor as david lee roth has done. This was the fun, king of rock n' roll Van Halen
sammy hagar SUX
@@snoolee7950 He doesn't suck, but he does not write as good lyrics as DLR.
@@nomadnomad9517 yeah. Just different energy. Both entertaining in different ways
David didnot write this
@@jeffreyteiken5659 who did? I’m genuinely curious now. Even though this comment was from 11 years ago, I’m still a huge Van Halen fan 🫡

Doom + Thrash + Van Halen wackiness= A great song for Mr. Bungle to cover when they get a chance ;)
And they do a damn good version.
They just did!
@@dylansparrow6169 Almost like I listened to Mr. Bungle first then came here to comment ;)
This is the essence of it all. Coolest vid of all time.
This is HEAVY!
Notice Roth fanning off the heat of the drums with his surgical gown - fun.

'Loss of Control' is the best filler song on any album ever.
it's great.no filler though. just plain crazy
I came here after seeing Mr Bungle cover this song
Me too!
The intro sounds like the beginning of a horror movie.
Completely awesome.
They are in control every second, every single note! Despite the incredable paste and speed they're showing....
this is one of the best early ones
I'm here from Mr Bungle covering this in 2021
Lombardo wearing the surgeon mask was a nice touch
Good news everyone!
You can now hear an excellent version of this song, without having to suffer through that asshat DLR.
Mr. Bungle has fixed it!
yeah f*** off
@@fredtello you should really check it out, it's damn near note for note if that's possible!
Almost sounds exactly like the original. Why even do it if you can't do it better? But Patton slays Roth in the vocal department of any song.
L.A. .............I knew them back then before...
they played my friends 16 birthday .. a pool party and we only paid them 50 bucks..
who knew? lmao...
cali for the win.
great story! like you say who knew!!
Damn Alex's drums sounds like someone having a pounding heart attack.......what can I say about Van Halen---hands down the best ";....;"
Fuckin mental.... Im having this as my morning alarm call. If this doesn't wake me up then nothing will. Brilliant.
They were so good, they could leave the mistakes and make them sound cool..
man i wanna party with these dudes! what ever happened to party rock?
Unquestionably one of the best songs to trip on. See the colors?
This makes modern metal feel limp and un thought out! Listen to the power in that solo, thats why Ed's the man and allways will be. Set fire to your down tuned guitars and learn from the master.
I never knew this video existed until just not. Thanks, this is awesome
WOW, I never even knew this was out there. Man that's raw, thanks for posting this.

THIS IS SO COOL!!!!!!
Awesome song. One of my all time favorite VH tracks.
My basketball coaches older sister dated David lee Roth a few years before they came big.... Amazing
lucky bitch!
I thought he was gay.

FALL FROM GRACE. BEST ANMERICAN BAND.... Respect to Greece. From USA
Alex sounds like thunder.. Yeaaah
A Thrash Metal from Van Halen. David Lee Roth's performance always crazy and funny. I love this album, good memories of my teenage days!
SCORE!!! Holy shit this is freaking awesome. Never knew this even existed. Thanks for the upload!

This is a much better copy than the copy i had on VHS in the mid 90's.
Mine had been copied so much it was in black n white!!
for me, the haviest van halen album
VERY COOL!!!
That intro riff is very sabbath
Wow. Who knew. After all these years, to find out there was an official video for this.
The intro reminds me of both Rising Force (by Yngwie Malmsteen) and Satch Boogie (by Joe Satriani). Hard to say Eddie didn't influence the entire era of shreddery.
3:10 seconds of VH MADNESS !! Gotta love it......
Cool, I never seen this until today. Awesome old footage
Such a great song with the core elements of what made Eddie so great. Still sorry to not have you here with us. RIP.
one of the most crazy songs of rock !!
Lol the quality, I love it
Holy $5 budget
$50k budget for video, $49,995 spent on cocaine.
Got it!!! if everyone want to know where to look for it you can find it on the dvd : van halen burnin in buenos aires.. it's in the extras :D
Outstanding!
Way cool !
Great stuff on this album...

Wow!!!!! Thanks for posting, never new this video existed! Looks like they're all wasted.
This is actually their best video. Fuckin A, just watched that like 4 times in a row. I lost control!
