The carp we have down south have super hard and tough mouths and you gotta used strong catfish circle hooks (at least I do) and it still works. Nice job on the fish!

Those are baby carp compared to the ones up here in NY. They are 20-40+ LBS 3+feet long. There is just no way I'm using 8LB test. Having the drag set in a way you'll take 20 minutes to reel the fish in is overkill. They are so fast and strong, drag will only do so much. They will run your line over so many rocks in the river and snap your line or tie up around wood and break off. Go heavier if you plan to catch bigger river fish is all I'm saying GL HF. This is just wrong. Carp during the spawn rarely bite. It can be extremely difficult. Even in the US where there is very little pressure on them. I suppose Brendan really just got lucky. Also the technique is not called bushwacking. It is called stalking. I love you Brendan but please don't act like you know what your talking about when it comes to carp. If you want learn more look up catfish and carp on RUclips. Taught me all I know on both species.
