Orlando Voorn is a DJ and producer who has been active in the music scene for many years already. He was born and raised in The Netherlands, but these days Orlando lives in the United States.
During one of his visits to The Netherlands, I spoke to him about 2 of his biggest classics; In the first interview Orlando shared the story behind the Format track “Solid Session”. In this week’s vlog you will hear more about “Flash”, a track which Orlando released back in the year 1992 under the name Fix.
Enjoy and thanks for watching!
My apologies for the quality of the video, for some reason there was an issue with the focus, which I didn't notice during the recording of the interview.

What is your favorite production or remix made by Orlando Voorn?
That's a difficult one! I like a lot of his productions, besides of the hits we all know. I like the 'Rise' (Detroit dub) and (New York mix) of his latest Basic Bastard alias on Clone as well, which is quite different like his other Basic Bastard productions. Those claps which were used are very nice. He used the same claps in a more techno and breakbeat/rave version of Oliver Hess he made. Check that one out! It's very nice! One of my all time favourites is also a Basic Bastard production on Outland records, on volume 3 to be exactly, Bounce. It's a fast techno production and has a deep techno flow!

Flash & Kiss the sky
Thank you. I've been a fan of Orlando for decades so great to know a little history.
And thank you too! Glad you enjoyed it!
Frequency ‘Kiss The Sky’. Love the hoover styled bass on that one, would be great to know the synth he used
Such An Honor !!! Thank you,
Love the effort you're putting into these interviews! Orlando - what a legend! Everything he touched turned to gold. Especially the Frequency stuff.
Thank you so much, always happy to see when people enjoy the interviews!
This channel is such a blessing. Watching your vids is such a great way to introduce people to new music and get a sense of the historical progression of electronic music and how the scene changed overtime.
Thank you for the kind words! Always happy to read comments like this :)
Right&Exact i like the most. Deep City, Take me home.. Reckless sounds great on big soundsystem.. and many, many more. Pacoo di Bangoo of course!
Lol. We talked outside de waakzaamheid after a dj set. Also thanked him for #1. Asked about the 96 remixes (those are awesome btw), but Orlando was not involved.
Still did not listen to gangstar production.
I am not a trance guy btw..
Best of luck Orlando. ❤ True OG.!
Geniaal nummer!!!
amazing. thanks for sharing
Thank you so much!
We all knew we looked like complete idiots while dancing on this track. But it was all worth it. Great memories!
Yeah the I think the problem with Orlando is he's released so many tracks under different names people don't know realise half the stuff he did
I think it was very normal back in the day to have multiple project names for producers who released a lot of music. Plus in those days not many people did release under their own name. That’s something from maybe the last 20 years or so, early 90s everybody used one or more aliases.
@@muzikxpress I think now days people don't do it because releases under your own name = dj gig's which is was I hate about the modern dance music biz as you can't make money on releases alone
@@X-101 yes or do use their own name and then “presents” with the project name. Much more important these days to promote your own name, also for gigs etc.
was the Roland w-30 used on Fix - Flash?
yes
@@orlandovoorn2854 cool! Did you use it as a sequncer and a sampler?
@@Dirty1200 yea i used the w30 that way back then also added dx 100 and Oberheim module
Club of 1969.. all great house/techno artists are from this era.. first wave. Not too young, already have some cash..
Didn’t this guy have beef with deadmau5 over his use of Paco Di Bango?
Hmmm I’m not aware of that tbh!
