The one thing I can say about dwarf gourami’s is sometimes how well they do might just depend on you. Mines very friendly to what’s in the tank but what stopped me from getting a second one to add is he showed very strong signs of being territorial and without many tall items or hiding spots it could cause issues. My personal advise is try to build your tank somewhat around them if you look to get them. Very beautiful fish tho, one of my favorites
Love your advice about guppies I have never heard about that before but I wouldn't recommend Cory's as they need to be in a group of 6 or more and a 20 gallon
There are a few types of corydoras that stay very small and might be ok as a group in a 10g, especially as a species only tank. Pgymy, habrosus, and hastatus are among the smallest corydoras.
I have 2 pepper coryies I keep perfectly fine in a 10 gal tank with my betta. Never had a problem with my pair. They are very entertaining and cute especially when they are zooming up to the top for air. And they get no bigger than a betta size.
It also depends on the species of Betta fish. If its splendens then I probably wouldn't even try to keep a sorority as they can still be highly aggressive. While species like Mahachai, Smaragdina, imbellis and alot of other wild types can be kept together but it should be watched carefully as some males can be overly territorial.
I have kept domestic betta splendense femals in sorority without any problem, but you have to keep 1 more agrresive fish with them and only put togther sisters or same age and size and shape females
@@rrrrrr-ry3cn yeah it really depends on the bettas individually as some are more aggressive than others. How many females did you manage to keep together?
I just got into the hobby & I have a 10 gallon tank with 6 guppies. I had some ghost shrimp & a mollie but they didn’t make it, so now it’s just a guppy tank. I’m working on getting live plants & snails.
Hi Nick, I was just catching up on some of your missed videos and came across this one. I know you are a fanatic about the dwarf neon rainbowfish, but have you thought about playing with the psuedomugil rainbowfish. They come in a variety of flavours, fairly easy to breed, from what I've read/researched. I just thought it would add some interest to your tanks...just a thought really and they fall into the rainbow family too
Hey just to let you know, corys don’t need a soft substrate to live. In their natural habitat they live in a mix of course, sharp gravel and sand. But great video!
I actually read an article from the guy who discovered them, and he said it was a "crime" to keep them in anything other than sand, sorry I can't link the article I have been looking for it
I tried keeping Corydoras on gravel once (it didn't seem sharp to me) and they did eventually rub off their barbells. Now I have sand and they seem to do much better.
That and the non-stop talking without any pauses. Editing out pauses in speaking seems to be the thing to do these days for videos. My brain sort of shuts down after a few minutes.
My friend gave me a corydora as a gift, and it lived 5 years! I was very happy to have him lived that long, my Molly's and guppies never lived that long
So I am getting a 10 gallon tank and thanks so much know I know what to get at the store for fish, one more question can I keep my betta fish in my aquarium that’s 10 gallons
@KeepingFishSimple In your cory video you specifically say to do 20 gallon+, is it ok to keep them in a 10 gallon? I really like the corys but I don't want to put them in a less than ideal environment.
beginner with a 10 gallon tank! I'd like to have live plants and a few fish. Would 1 honey Gourami, a school of neon tetras, and a bacopa plant work? and what type of cleaner animal would be best? a snail? i have a water heater and filter, gravel and a cave.
gourami's need tanks bigger than a 10 gallon tank they get huge. I have 4 of the silver/blue ones. But they're great to watch and keep they love to jump and be sassy as well so keep that in mind before getting one. On the Betta note males can be kept with certain type of fish as well as the females.
I will have to disagree with you on the guppy fish. I feel it depends on where you get them from. I got some one culls they donated. I have super fancy mutt guppy fish. They have a splash of endler in them that I threw in there.
Hi everyone, I'm not hating on Nick but neon tetras are not good fish for kids or when you have a big filter with big holes for dirt because i bought 5 of them a few months ago and from how small they are they got sucked into my filter and i did find out in till I took out my filter pad and found the scales and the body's, before I found out all my other fish died from the body's in the tank for so long without my knowledge. I had them in a 10g and they were my cousins favorite and when we cleaned the tank she started to cry in my arms. I'm new to Nick's videos and agree with every other fish and I want to say that I have had a brittle-nose pleco in a 10g tank before and they are amazing for algae eaters, though I don't recommend a common pleco only because they can get way to big for a 10g tank and that's the only thing you would e able to keep in the tank. This is what my opinion is on these fish. I hope this helps
Depends on the dimensions of the tank. I can make a lot of small fish work in my tall 10 gallon rimless tank. I can also make a lot of fish work in my 10 gallon long aquarium. Depends on what decor you put in.
Hello! Thanks so much for the video! I am really curious about having dwarf gourami in my 10 gallon! I don't think I want them to breed, would it be better to have 2-3 males or 2-3 females? I was thinking females, but I wasn't sure if it mattered. Or would that not work out? I just want them to be happy 😊
The males can be pretty territorial but it’s so hard to find female dwarfs. Almost all big pet stores only sell males. So i ended up with just a single male in my 10 gallon. He is chillin on his own and is also great with the 4 pristilla tetra’s I have.
We have 3 males two gold, one sunset (didn't see any females for sale) and they do quite well together. Maybe it's the odd number. They have great personality. The tank is in my living room and you should see them when my daughter comes home they know it's feeding time.
what would happen if I keep a group of female Bettas with one male? Won't do it unless I know for sure it's safe. I have the stuff to care for babies if they do happen to breed
Why 😭 Betta fish is not a bad fish they have beautiful colors and they are really beautiful and they are really easy to keep care of them . I really love Betta fish okay they are a little bit aggressive but when you keep them single it's really nice fish 😊
Honestly, 3 is too few for a group of corydoras. Smaller groups will be more stressed and shy, and hide a lot. Whereas larger groups will be always out and about, often moving around the tank together. You do them and yourself a disservice if you don't get a larger group. If you really want both types of fish, you could have nice big groups of 10 or so in a 20 gallon.
