    You will be sorely missed but you deserve to enjoy time with your family.

      @@mrpete222 don't worry about Corona. It's the biggest hoax EVER perpetrated on the world. The Gateway pundit April 10th article listed only 150 deaths in the US due to Corona for people without a preexisting condition or comorbidity.

    • @DarronBlack
      @DarronBlack 4 года назад +2

      @@ronshekelson *sigh*... that'''s idiotic. That's an awful set of human trash spreading whatever conspiracy theories demonize half the country and bring in the donations. Truth or not, it doesn't matter to them as long as they "help" their side and make you hate people that don't agree with you even more. Even finding this concept in more honest publications, they're counting everything under the sun as preexisting conditions. How many Americans are technically overweight? High blood pressure, hypertension (even controlled)? Diabetic? Old is a preexisting condition? With the latest about no-symptom spreaders being "very rare", we shouldn't be shutting down (pretty huge screwup there, IMHO) but we should all be wearing masks out around other people. It's to protect people like Mr. Pete here, and my mid-70s lunch buddies. 150 people. F*ing hell. It's ridiculous how many people will listen to anonymous social media and conspiracy theories and ignore actual professional media. Sure, there's a lot of screwups in the media but it's a huge step up from random online hearsay and outright foreign propaganda attacks. We used to make fun of the conspiracy theorists ("bar codes on the back of street signs are for the UN to be able to find their way around when they invade", etc)... let's find our way back to that. The current stats are 115,000 dead in the US. Sure, some of those are people that died that happened to test positive but CV had nothing to do with it. If that's "bar codes on street signs" crazy level high, MAYBE only 20% are real COVID cases. That's still 23,000 people. I'd guess it's probably more like the other way around.

    I started watching your videos more than 10 years ago after I bought an ancient Atlas 10-D lathe (1937 model) and found you after doing a search on youtube for "Atlas lathe"..it was your 4-jaw demonstration. I've not missed a video since and what I have learned from you since that time gave me the confidence to purchase a larger and more modern 12x36 machine and a milling machine as well. Your teaching has enabled me to use those machines for both fun and for profit and your videos on bench work have expanded my knowledge in those areas also. I owe you a lot, Mr. Pete..as do so many other viewers of your channel. Not only for the instruction but for the sheer entertainment and the life lessons you have taught us, probably without realizing you were setting such a wonderful example for so many of us. As I conclude my comment as I always do..know that it is heartfelt: Thanks, Mr. Pete! :-)

    Lyle, Your videos are skillfully made and full of good information. Thank You. I have bought and sold Gerstner boxes since 1977. Their options have only slightly changed since then. When I bought my first one you had your choice of Walnut or Oak but they all had sheet metal in the bottom of the drawers. Also, they had two lines (back then) and your box looks like the cheaper line. I believe the cheaper line had red felt. My current box has green felt. If you take a look at the current Harbor Freight tool box you can easily see the difference in quality. The HF boxes are horrible. I believe your box is the cheaper Gerstner line. Good luck in Hawaii and thanks for all the videos. --Chuck

I still use the tools to this day 50 years later. Many have his name etched on them. It gives me a feeling of connection with him when I use them. There is a lot of Starrett but there are several Craftsman tools in the lot. He claimed that they were made by Starrett at the time. I just came home from the hospital (open heart surgery) and watched this video. The Suzuki "ball gages" you display at the beginning of your video sure gave me a blast from the past. On November 27, 2019 on my Instagram page (@tigwelder) I featured 2 tools that I bought in 1973 when I was 17 years old. One tool is a set of Suzuki telescoping gages. Replies from other "gramers" suggest that Mitutoyo made our gages and possibly other metrology tools for Suzuki, back in the day. If you're not needing those ball gages, may I purchase them from you please? If you reply with an email address (I couldn't find one for you on this channel) I'll contact you and we'll chat. Many thanks, Sir.

    And goodness gracious Mr. Pete!!!! You scored the Starrett jackpot!!! It really would be a jackpot if you didn't have to pay those Starrett prices. Lol!! Beautiful find, sir. Beautiful indeed.
    And Mr. Pete, you're not going anywhere. You're way too rambunctious to be thinking you're in the final years. Corona virus ain't got the balls to take you down! Hahaha! You're a great man Mr. Pete. I don't care what This Old Tony says about you.

    My guess is $500 for the box. Though not a Gerstner, it still looks to be good quality. Never seen one like that before with metal drawer bottoms. Don't worry about the Wuhan Flu. You are under 85 and not in a state run nursing home. You'll be fine!!

    I always have a sadness going to one of those sales, not only because someone has passed away but the loss of all that accumulated experience and skill. I only hope the fella had a chance to pass some of on but I doubt it. As for a buyers premium, its an infection that has been adopted by every auction house in the UK and we still all go along like sheep and cough up, my local sale room is currently charging 24% !!!!! Stay well MrP, this virus is no laughing matter unfortunately, as a paramedic I've seen many people struck down and lost healthy colleagues too, so hopefully its not in your area, keep well and I look forward to seeing you on here again after your well deserved holiday

    I was guessing $650-675 for that box, I would say you got a hell of a deal! I understand buying tools and boxes hoping to get a real gem! I do it too some times but I'm less then half your age. You don't need to explain your self about buy about the actions as I do it on ebay sometimes too. I was lucky and spent 12 years in the same school system but I loved when I got to middle school (grades 5-8) & high school (grades 9-12) because many teachers taught a multitude classes & grades. When I graduated in 2005 they were shutting down the metal shop/ wood shop & electronics the next year. Any how I'm I have a Starrett 0'-.500" depth mic in a leather case in great condition I can send to you for a video or just to keep let me know how to contact you if you see this.
    Take care,

    Sorry, Lyle that I'm behind - was really sick this week. I always enjoy tours of Kennedy and Gerstner tool boxes people have purchased at estate sales, auctions, or inherited. No one should be jealous. You have put in the years and the effort. You share the fun of exploring the box and the tools, and you certainly didn't have to do that - you did it to share with other people and we love you for it. Ignore the trolls. Any attention to them just encourages more poor behavior, and none of them know you well enough to merit your concern. Wishing you good health!

    You know you machining. I will grant you that. You have been a great teacher in that regard. But you are somehow failing to grasp the seriousness of COVID19. You are not alone in this failure as shown by massive gatherings to protest injustice in which few if any are practicing any sort of Physical Distancing(PD).
    CDC: 80,000 people died of flu last winter in U.S., highest death toll in 40 years
    By Associated Press September 26, 2018
    There is already 117K dead from COVID19 estimates are 200K by September. So look at it as 3 times more deadly than the flu if you want, but you only have to look at the growth rate graphs to see that that estimate is very low. In fact 200K is only the minimum that will die by Sept. if PD is practiced by a majority. Stay at home not just to protect yourself, but to protect your neighbors and loved ones.

    Howdy! You mention you found the number W14 on a drawer. You sure it wasn't W41? The reason I ask is because Gerstner made a model W41 that looked a lot like that box. I'm wondering if some restored it at some point and neglected to reinstall the mirror after replacement of the felt. I've seen other W14's without handles on the side, so I'm not surprised about that.
