That's soawesome that you have that memory! Every time to movie would 'dip to black' I (John) would chuckle and think "COMMERCIAL BREAK!!" ;) I remember seeing the weird Star Wars (made for TV) Ewok movies on TV, but no Hobbit or Lord of the Rings.
"WHERE THERE'S A WHIP, *WHT-CHSH* THERE'S A WAY!" Man, arguably the best song about getting press-ganged into a war! Fun fact, the whip was the first man-made device to break the sound barrier! That *crack* you hear is the sonic boom.
Haha, yeah I (John) can't really keep up with Nick's rate of watching shows -- I tend to watch things when they're either 'completed' or at least a while after they drop. Which, of course, doesn't bode well for channel views. ;) So you'll likely see me more for occasional game reviews or shows / movies that aren't as time-sensitive. Thanks for saying hi!
Rankin Bass ends what Bakshi did with The 1st LOTR movie that is based on the first 2 stories, and Rankin Bass Hobbit which is more book accurate then Peter Jacksons trilogy of The Hobbit, yet i still liked it!
I was young but I do remember when this was shown directly on tv. It's such an ICONIC Animated film.

Lol at the "WHT-CHSH" sounding out of the whip! You are always the Expert, dropping sonic-boom knowledge even in a comment!
Whoa where has John been! Glad that he's back! Cool breakdown I didn't even know this animated version existed!
