  • Well, hello. I know my previous cover of this got a lot of attention and while I am not sure if this one will as well, I still thought it would be worth doing again since Synth V has added a super important updat in the time. you can now use vocal modes as parameters, drawing its intensity and have smooth transition between them all. this is SUPER important as previously the most i could do was break the notes into groups, and doing so greatly limited the sound and didnt allow a more accurate attempt at mimicking adelle's voice.
    so i went all out on tuning here, and tried to make her sound accurate. studying exactly where she should be soft or strong. hope you enjoy, i really liked redoing this.
    i will soon be making a "break down" video where i go over tuning and mixing for this cover and using Solaria.

    Super impressive. It has been awhile since I've checked out vocal synths and the progress is impressive. I am sure a lot of it is attributed to your parameter control. Well done!

      they have come a long way for sure! the parameters definitely bring a lot more life with the variety of options. though even by default, still very good.

      I second that. I'm just getting into SynthV and it's awesome. Struggling to find any meaningful tutorial videos.
      I've got the basics - but it's the automation that I'm having to find out as I go along. You've got it spot on with this lovely tune. Any instructional tips would be so much appreciated.
      I've been composing for years but, until SynthV, I've not had a voice (mine is best suited for silent movies 😎😱). It's like bursting a creative dam - if I can just get a handle on the automation.
      Love the song. Paul

  • @melodyrosemedia
    @melodyrosemedia Год назад

    First off, this gets me really excited for the technology! You did a phenomenal job! So, this is incredible mostly because of the source vocal, right? Or did it take hours of fidgeting with parameters? Does it work well if the source is lower and pitched up (taking a male karaoke demo performance and using it for the female demo as well)?

    • @illusioncovers
      @illusioncovers  Год назад +2

      sooo theres a few parts to it.
      1) there can be a lot of clean up when doing it this way, as much as its useful to rip the pitch data! notes arent exact as much as you end up thinking they will be, and the fact the vocal reference is more often than not ripped from a song, pitch isnt perfect (lol). even stems with reverb will be messy. so the clean up time can vary depending on how bad it is...
      2) there is indeed more to do with parameters. tension, vocal modes, loudness, tone shift... all that kinda stuff seperate from the pitch and note edits, can take a while as well. i worked on this on and off for multiple days straight. (which is a lot for me, usually i finish all my other stuff in a few hours but- i have become very adept at these softwares)
      3) the pitch or gender of the source doesnt matter! if you need to raise the source an octave for a female voice, then you can do it super easy in the program. and i dont mean drag the notes up another octave- you should keep it where it is, and use a slider in the program labelled "key shift" which will let you move it up or down semitones, without actually moving any notes on the piano roll (which is a safer/easier thing to do and less confusing lol).

    • @melodyrosemedia
      @melodyrosemedia Год назад

      @@illusioncovers thanks for the quick, insightful reply. When I use it (it's not an if, since I'm definitely sold), I'll be recording the reference myself, then cleaning it up with Melodyne. That also takes care of audio to MIDI. I'm sure there's a case for copyright infringement when it's ripped from the original, so I wouldn't risk that. I'm a good singer though and I'd want it to be unique.

    • @illusioncovers
      @illusioncovers  Год назад

      @@melodyrosemedia tbh when it comes to covers there is no copyright issues here when referencing the source voice. actually, vocal synth covers arent legally even considered "covers", theyre actually considered "remixes".... much like remixes that would reuse the singers original vocals lol.

    • @melodyrosemedia
      @melodyrosemedia Год назад

      @@illusioncovers remixes are technically not fully licensed/legal to begin with, since they don't fall under 1st amendment protections. A lot of artists allow/encourage them though. :) I'll stick with my stuff being covers and get that license, with no material taken from another recording/performance. Still, you do amazing work!

    • @illusioncovers
      @illusioncovers  Год назад

      @@melodyrosemedia actually now that I think about it too- I don't think it really matters whether or not you use a rip of the original vocals or your own because it reality? You're not like, actually using the original voice at all- not in the same way. Its not the original singer at all no matter how you think of it... You're just... recreating them, and really there's no clear connection that my vocal synth recreation is taking note or pitch data. I can say it is, but I could also just as easily mimic the singer my making *everything* myself you know? Pitch data or note timing isn't the same as actually using the actual original voice, bc tbh if it were we would have issues with every vocal synth cover. The data I get from praat isn't any kind of infringement if I can also do it without the data too. Regardless I'm not trying to sway you to doing that lol- but I felt like it was worth saying this.

    What tool can do this with custom models? I've used RVC WEBUI that's good but not like this where you can change the words and notes like MIDI

    • @illusioncovers
      @illusioncovers  7 месяцев назад +1

      as far as i have seen from the community, DiffSinger AI is probably the best option you have if you want to record your own AI voice. You can then also use "OpenUTAU for Diffsinger" to have a proper daw to render/change notes/etc with. I have not used these tools, however.

    • @SlayerReduxUTAU
      @SlayerReduxUTAU 7 месяцев назад

      Just to say, making a custom model with Diffsinger is harder than RVC, but it is worth it as it can be as realistic as this.
