I bought this ThinkPad at the end of July. I have fallen in love with this laptop. Everything you discussed I have found to be true. Good laptop for the money.
Had to come here and see the review. Just got one for $100 on FB Marketplace (8gb i5 version). As always, great review!! Love the keyboard and form factor.
First time viewer of your reviews and it was awesome! Not too over-techy and in language this mostly tech-challenged user could understand. Thank you for that! Our school district got a few of these for us this spring so I am trying one out over the summer. So far it is everything you say. Once I use it in the classroom while not at my desk, I think it will be a bit on the heavy side to carry around. Time will tell. I do medical transcription as a side job, and keyboard touch is something I am sensitive to. The L13 keyboard feels great and is very responsive. The pen has a great feel, too. I will be able to say more when I put it to official classroom use next fall. But thanks for letting me know what to expect!
Picked up a L13 Yoga i7 yesterday with 16GB and 512 GB SSD Without IR camera, fingerprint reader and backlit keyboard It's a real nice ThinkPad Like it as much as my X380 Gonna change the keyboard to backlit and I'm ... 😉👌
Thanks great review. The Samsung Book Flex Alpha is finally out. I'm considering the Book Flex as it cheaper and thinner (good for 2 in 1). Would love to see you compare them too...
They just released a “Gen 2” of this laptop. MSRP of $1500, but coupons brought it to ~$850 plus tax for Black Friday. Includes i7-1165G7 with 16 gb RAM, 512 gb SSD, WiFi-6, and a thunderbolt 4 port, and otherwise is the same as the Gen 1. I picked one up as I don’t see anything else with those specs for that price, what are your thoughts?
Can't decide between the Thinkpad L13 Yoga and the Thinkpad X1 Yoga 4th generation with i7 (don't really care about windows 10 home or pro). I'd love to have the X1 4th Gen, but the price of the L13 is cheaper and it offers good quality too. I am looking for a laptop that integrates a powerful software+hardware and the flexibility of a tablet. In my search I went straight away to the Lenovo web page since I consider is a rough, good quality brand, and I love it. I purchased their tablet, Lenovo yoga book YB1-x90F, which runs amazingly with android, wanted to upgrade it but the next version comes with windows 10 only... and that OS in tablets doesn't feel like a good combination to me. I would stay with this one but my little sister is in college now and she will give great use to my tablet, so I will give it to her because I love her, despite I love that tablet too. Plus my current laptop's (HP Envy 3165ngw) processor is so slow it's a challenge for my patience. So it's time for an upgrade and I want 2 in 1, and no other brand than Lenovo is currently offering what I want. However, I am poor too, hence my indecision between these two great laptops. I am thinking that in the far future I will thank myself if I invest in the Thinkpad X1 4th gen... But that means I need to save more money and bare with my poor hp for longer. If I can play Skyrim and edit youtube videos with the X1, then I shall wait, if not, then I remain indecisive :D By the way, Thank you so much Andrew for your videos and reviews. It's everything so objectively well explained, very detailed and you try every feature of the devices. I've made all my research in your channel
The cheap starting price is for cheap configuration. Nearly $700 for a dual core i3 is just insanely bad decision and starting price. That processor is not suitable for any kind of even moderately demanding tasks in 2020. Since performance difference is literally negligible between 8th gen whiskey Lake and 10th Gen Comet Lake CPU, I think people should be better off with the previous gen version which comes with quad core i5-8265U at this price point and the performance is way better.
The pen on these yogas only lasts for like 2 hrs before needing to be recharged, which is a major headache for someone wanting to take notes on this device. So the screen and pen feature on these is very weak compared to other solutions and your reviews fails to point this out.
@@wilfredopacheco3708 Yes. It's not powered by a battery but by a capacitor. It littearly takes less than 30 seconds to recharge the pen to about 80 % potenial. But it's annoying each time it stops working though :) And a capacitor isn't able to store the energy over time just as good as a battery can. So you should always store it in the computer when it's not in use. PS! As a teacher I'm using this computer on a daily basis so this is my own experience of the PC. That said, I prefer the Surface and it's pens way over Lenovo. Even my six years old Surface perfoms better with it's non-active pen. No batteries and no problem when I'm writing with my hand laying on the screen.
Is there any reduced display image quality on the parts of the screen you're not looking directly at with different viewing angles? I definitely noticed this reduced display image clarity for the X13 Yoga.
Which one is better between the hp spectre x360 i5 version and the L13 yoga i7 version ? For some lite video editing, the Iris Plus graphic card in the spectre is better you think ? I'm hesitating because they are both about the same price and I think that i5 processor should be enough altough for the same price I would go for the L13 i7, but I don't know about the graphic cards though
what about the p/n 20R30004SP 10gen i5 too. Temperatures? comfortable keyboard putting the palm on it? . Furthermore...this version is not tactil isn't it? By the way: i have seen other video that says fingerprints are very easy to keep sticked? in the lap surface. what about that?
I can not recommend this device. The hardware is great, but the fan is just annoyingly loud, even under low processor load. Once plugged in, the fan is running at a constant high speed. The issue is well known and a lot of lenovo thinkpads are plagued by that. This behavior was tested a few days ago with the newest firmware and BIOS updates installed.
i need a laptop but i dont know what to go for this just makes it confusing. ssd: 1 tb ram: 16 gb basically those are the only specs i need. in terms of processing i dont know what will be overkill for me or not. i basically wil be coding on this laptop alot of chrome browsers and multiple screens but a dock will fix that. then i will maybe render cad files here and there over the next few years. so if i get something where i plug an external gpu in just to do those renders and cut down on the laptop price would be ideal. i want to look at the lenovo range unless recmmended elsewhere.
Just ordered one, got it and it’s disappointing unfortunately. It’s getting so hot on the bottom that I’m not sure if I can use it on top of my lap without inconvenience or risking health issues. Can someone confirm at least a very toasty spot in the CPU area?
is there a thinkpad yoga 2020 that has SD card reader? i think thinkpad extreme has sd card, but there is no pen garage for it. also disappointed this doesnt have thunderbolt 3. i currently use thinkpad yoga 370 which has the usb t-3, but still no sd card reader.
a LOT more accurate than the HP X360 Envy. It's pretty darn close to writing on paper. The only thing I notice is that sometimes it connects strokes of my pen with a straight line, but I think that may be due to the give of the screen and my particular swoopy handwriting. BTW, the Envy turns my handwriting into a 1st grade nightmare.

Michael Müller Thanks for pointing this out. I noticed a very hot spot on the bottom of the device I received most recently. Still time to return, so can you share your experience concerning heat emission? It’s a shame, since other parameters are very nice. Measuring the screen’s color gamut shows 100% SRGB, great.

Awesome work, Andrew 👍🏾. This is a very nice offering from Lenovo
You put in a lot of efforts in your videos but somehow you have small subscriber base, definitely deserve more subscribers.
Ahh finally a proper review on English! The I7 16GB is on my shopping list 100%
This channel deserves more subscribers! And also the guy looks like Robert De Niro.
Excellent review, complete and clear. I'm getting mine tomorrow with i7 and 8 of ram. Thanks!
Love the content of this video Andrew. Keep up the awesome and honest work! Great stuff!
I want a 2 in 1 this year. Preferrably a 14 inch or a 15 inch the size of a 14.8 inch. So any 2 in 1 reviews, Im all over it.
Great little machine and excellent review Andrew, thanks!
By any chance, are you going to review the MSI Modern 14 or 15?

That’s pretty good, I would like a comparison between the X13.
great review; your review allows me to make good decision; I am out looking for a new laptop. Will be replacing my microsoft surface tablet
The audio part surprised me. Thinkpads are usually don't known for their great audio.
Given that I'm literally getting mine delivered in a couple of hours this was immaculate timing 😂
David Baker Ikr. I just got mine an hour ago. XD

In terms of performance, does it make moe sense to buy this product or to buy a older version of the thinpad x series?
I have the same question
Thank you for your review.
Great stuff as usual! Liked and shared to twitter!
Great video 👍👍👍
Thanks for reviewing this laptop, it seems like an absolute bargain with those specs at that price.
thank you for the useful review
Bagussss om reviewnya, mantap 👍🏻
finally wait the Thinkpad review!
great review as always👍thanks andrew
hello, one question, the intel core I5 is soldering to the mother board?, is BGA??, thanks for the video

Do you think it is a good option for running programs like Illustrator, Photoshop?
Yes, it does everything! I bought it 2 years ago and I run really demanding programs, including Photoshop...
I know it’s late. But would you pick this over the think pad x1 Gen 3 from 2018?
Thanks great review.... I need a 17 inch OLED with a yoga 360 swing & the Thinkpad keys.
Dveloper?
Why are L-series ThinkPads cheaper than X- or T-series?
More budget oriented

@Tony I would wait for the Thinkpad lineup with Ryzen 4000 APU to come out. Lenovo has already announced them.
Is this a brand new model? What is the primary diff between the Lenovo ThinkPad & the Lenovo Yoga C930/940?
Thanks!
Yes it is new and it is a more affordable Thinkpad
