That to be said, if you don't fall in love with the town, you will fall in love with the food there. :) Little travelling tip: Just keep the number plates off of your car and behind the windshield whenever you park it somewhere - number plates have a tendency to mysteriously disappear and may only show up again in exchange of money... :)

Not so much changed since Lemberg/ Lviv was Capital of Kingdom of Galicia. My grandfather was in the Garnison of Lemberg several decades and loved this town and when the Empire was divided he had to go back to Austria. Austria-Hungary fell in 1918. Lviv/Lwów wasn't stolen, but only conquered. Most of the inhabitants of Lviv/Lwów at that time were Poles anyway. That is why most of the inhabitants of Lviv/Lwów wanted to live in Poland (a city with a Polish majority as I wrote above). Gdańsk, Wrocław and Szczecin weren't stolen by Poland, but only granted to Poland after 1945 by the Allies, mainly Stalin and the USSR. On the one hand, like compensation for the war, though not entirely - mainly so that Stalin would also have greater dependence, but East Germany was also dependent on the USSR after the war, like the People's Republic of Poland. In general, until 1945 for many centuries, Poles constituted the majority of the inhabitants of the city of Lviv/Lwów. Austria stole Lviv/Lwów from Poland in 1772 during the partitions of Poland! The city also belonged to Poland for several centuries before partitions of Poland. Don't lie to the history.
