  • Ever heard the phrase that bikes are “freedom machines”? Join us to explore the realities of women cycling in Ireland on this International Women’s Day.
What kind of journeys do women need to take? What is their experience cycling in Dublin? What about secondary school girls cycling, what is holding back more girls from cycling? What does this imply for future infrastructure? How might public space be better shaped to suit more people?
Join us on Zoom at 8pm, on Monday the 8th of March to explore these questions, with a panel of experts including:
Kathleen Jacobi, Engineer, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Travelling in a Woman’s Shoes Report
Ciara Norton, Communications Officer, Green-Schools, #andshecycles National Campaign
Síle Ginnane, Researching gender & cycling in Dublin, Women on Wheels Research
Rebecca Jones, Design Engineer, Urban Movement Ltd., Co-design and community engagement
Please share this with a friend and join us at 8pm on the 8th for International Women’s Day.
This event will be chaired by Siobhán McNamara and is organised by Mairéad Forsythe and Conor Cahill.

As a lady I have to say we are treated like Shite, but I remember my husband talking about wanting equality in the car insurance industry, why should men have to pay more for motor insurance than women, and then the E.U equalised the problem by rising the cost of women's insurance, to stop the discrimination, now he is still paying the extra on top of his own car insurance, so it just goes to show you not everything is greener on the other side, my grandaughter is paying extra for her insurance now because someone mentioned feminist equality, please don't privatise our Phoenix park, the people's park, we need more parking spaces not less, the lack of parking will deffinatly kill off the zoo, thank you.
