- Is RUclips going back to its grassroots with slow-paced edits?
Many RUclipsrs are tired of trying to keep up with the modern pace of short-form fast flashy edits.
I have always enjoyed the slower pace in my content creation, attending it and nurturing it so it's productive over time.
I am very interested in your thoughts on this subject. Please let me know down below.

Deciding to go back to Basics, has always been my attraction to your Content, without the flashy Editing 👍
Thanks Rick, it's nice to see it trending back to a slower pace and people enjoying that.
I mentioned in the chat of last Saturday stream, there's not many Aussie RUclipsrs creating this type of slow content
@@rickneilsen906 yes I remember that! Thank you for the feedback
Hi Marty I love this style of video. Where you explain clearly the information you have and show us
what youu ar talking about by showing the example in your garden. I like the slow and clear approach the information is what is important and this can njot be rushed. I also like the regular garden tours which show how you are puting your advice into action. Keep it up you dont have to sell yourself the content does that for you
God bless in all you do
Many thanks Terry, really nice to read a comment like this
This is one of you best videos ever, Mart. It is obvious to any viewer that it is coming from you heart. I certainly agree that people today are really after content which originates in the wisdom of the presenter. They're fed up of gimmicks and quick takes. We already see far too much of that on our television screens. As you know, I simply place 'talking head videos' on Retirement on RUclips. One of my most recent has over 95,000 views. People want substance not fluff, and your videos, Mart, always have something in them worth listening to.
Thanks, Dad, and congrats on your channel achievement. Really happy for you!
Love your videos. I think your production values are good and bring out the natural way you present the content. Don’t want or like the flashy stuff. I come here for the nice Aussie bloke sharing his passion for gardening.
I appreciate that, thanks for the feedback
I can not watch the fast-paced stuff, and it plays up with my anxiety. I love your stuff, I don't miss one.
Hi Dee, yes it makes me a little anxious too. Thanks so much for becoming a member over at my Buy Me A Coffee page.
Thanks Marty!! You hit the nail on the head!! I garden to give my mind a rest and take a moment to be able to hear myself think while nurturing my plants. So keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep watering my garden. Thanks
Will do,blessings to you and the family!
Thanks!
Hi Jim, that's so kind of you. Thanks so much it's truly appreciated!
I'm glad to see it happen - I started my channel two years ago and was so disheartened. I'm glad to make longer form content as it brings me the most joy. And I enjoy watching your channel so very much.
Thanks so much for your kind words. Stoked you're enjoying the process of making slower-paced long-form content too!
I'm a sucker for short form videos. I sometimes see shorts from epic gardens and self sufficient me. I think some bite size vids here and there isn't a bad thing. But the main focus for gardening should be long form. Personally I like people who talk and give out hot tips rather than someone not talking at all....more often than not there's some hidden gems in rambling.
Hidden gems I love that, I hunt for them too!
Your garden is looking beautiful. I’d love a garden tour and you getting back to worm farming again.
Also some more garden to plate videos would be lovely
Thanks I am happy with the garden, even though it's been a super tricky season. A garden tour is possible once the rain and bad weather slows up.
Marty, I think your content is best slow and detailed, the fast pased works for some
That's true fast pace does work for certain creators.
Love watching ur videos brother it gives me sum peace n brightens my day stay humble
That's so good to hear that it brings joy into your life!
Totally agree with you - more quality and real life. You will find the people who subscribe to you will be loyal and long timers on your channel. thanks for all the videos you put up. It;s a lot of work and much appreciated. Cheers
Thanks David
Great video Marty. Most of the videos I watch are 5 mins to 15 mins in length. There are some tutorial-type videos that I have watched for over an hour. There's not enough meat in the short-form videos to keep my attention. I think the only value they have as a creator is in driving traffic to your longer-form videos, channel, course, book, website, etcetera......There are creators with hundreds of videos - not thousands - who have millions of views and are earning a lot of AdSense revenue. They are creating EVERGREEN content that will stand the test of time....Your videography and editing have improved since your earliest days but you have always been a great teacher
Evergreen is great if they stick around in the search engines Matt. Thanks for the comment!
@martysgarden That is something I have been keen to ask you. Do your earliest videos, which are still good today, receive views and monetisation, or does RUclips 'disappear' them?
@@MattMilla76 most aren’t visible unless you go onto the channel itself
@martysgarden That is true. Kind of a faulty algorithm. You would think it would show you more of the channels and subjects you like.
@@MattMilla76 I am looking at getting older content together and running it a long live stream. In theory it could run for hours. It would give new viewers a chance to see the older stuff
Love longer videos that I can learn.
I don't like shorts and don't watch them.
Thanks Marty ❤
Education has been mentioned a lot in the comments section. I have an educational video out today actually!
Great news, I personally dislike the "shorts" creators do for RUclips and don't watch them. There's other platforms for smashing your brain with content. Your best work was when you did projects and explained it in detail.
Thanks for sharing, much appreciated!
Keeping it simple man, steady pace is a good option! I suggest maybe 🤔 organising some interviews of other like minded individuals thought thinkers in the industry! Interview them coffee ☕️ chat discover what makes them tick with gardening 🧑🌾
Thanks for the input, it's something I would like to do in the future if I can arrange it.
I can’t cope with the fast moving stuff it literally makes me I’ll. it can trigger seizures and my autism as I can’t come.
I like this content, slower and more focused and effective.
I feel it has to have a point for me to watch.
The point is what can I learn. I want to learn and to do that it needs to be taught not rushed on 100x fast forward. In my opinion of course.
I want to learn by how you do things and see if it works for me, as not everything will but some will .
Yes, good point,.
I do watch shorts and the ones I watch I still learn from as the creator of it is still showing you 1 think, like how to use castings in pot plays. Doesn’t need a 20min video a short is possible. And that’s fine. Or shorts as a bit cut from a longer video version. That’s important too.
Shorts are fine, it's the fast paced editing I am talking about Cheryl,,
@@martysgarden sorry got it wrong. Didn’t understand the difference
I am autistic lol 😂
In general, the easier it is to do something, the lower quality the final product. Remember when live coverage of some event on the street took a minimum of a van of gear and 4 people? Now, one girl with a phone does the news. And, the video is bad, the audio is bad, the information is completely missing. When you have to put in some effort, you'll usually get better results overall. When you make your album while on a plane trip, you get hip-hop. Not exactly music.
Glad your going back to the grass roots don’t like the quick stuff never watch them
Thanks, Grass roots all the way!
Enjoy your coffee mate
Thanks Phil, that's really kind of you!
I feel attacked 😂🤣
haha, onya Mike! Luv your work.
Hi Marty. I do not like those fast paced videos. And that's what pops up first when I turn YT on, ugh.
Yes, they throw that straight at us usually. It's a bit annoying at times in my opinion. Have a lovely day Ann
I did have a comment quite long but I SusoectAI removed
Wow, that's odd Rick
@@martysgarden well you know me I’ll let you know part on RUclips and other platforms.
I may be able to speak about it In parts
100% posted
@@martysgarden simply stick with gardening local content for Australian audience others will follow-from overseas, as we adjust to their Chanel’s.
Worms to promote building the soil ecosystem sand the uses and simple saving money gardening for people to eat better.
Other Aussie RUclipsrs gave issues too, overseas ones as well, even ones with 1M plus club
yep epic hit the wall to much blah blah. garden people like it low and slow. if we want bling we could watch commercial TV but who wants to do that. production values are important but coming away informed and grounded is more important. survival gardening should be at the top of everybody list. fruit, veg, and 'erb.
Survival gardening is really moving forward now with everything going on.
Marty you do what your heart wants and what you feel inspired to share. Would love to share photos of what we have going on do you have an email?
