Wow, this video definitely inspired me to do something similar. I'm from Serbia actually and live in the USA and love to paddle board. Just continue doing what you do, I love it.
I love your adventures so much man, you inspired me to go on some distance skating trips! I skated a tiny 270 km over two trips, one of which I came back from less than a week ago. I don't have interesting video equipment though so I'll leave the amazing trip videos to you! These trips really made me discover more about the world and about myself and are really unique experiences, so thank you so much for being so inspirational!
Glad your both getting after it. Big or small doesn't matter how long or how far the adventure is, cool your getting out exploring. Tis fun. I love to move.
So strange, I came across this after looking at SUP tours and saw "Adam Colton" and thought that rings a bell. Next thing I'm 2 hours deep rewatching trick tips with Adam and Adam re-living my youth. Amazing trip btw! Very inspiring if I can ever get overseas again
@@whoisadam that's sucks man! I'll be keeping an eye out for a follow up vid one day 👍 might need to replicate the Murray trip if I can't get out of Vic
Sweet, glad you enjoyed. Yeah SUP traveling not the most entertaining to watch compared to traveling by skateboard but I tried to edit in a way that hopefully flowed alright and still showed a lot of the trip.
Thanks, yeah it was fun filming and editing for Loaded. We had some fun times creating those videos, good memories and I'm glad the videos live on youtube for many years to come.
Awesome trip and video Adam. Do you think this trip could be done in a packraft? I saw some of the sections with the headwinds which would make it interesting.
It totally could be done in a packraft, past a guy in one long the way. Yeah there are headwinds days alright, but if the raft does bad then rest day :)
Super dope!! Lol i think the spot with the barges is pretty criminal, saw a vice documentary on the guys who steal oil from those barges. Would really love to do a trip like this once.
wow man amazing - do you need to cross the border at an official spot? didn know what sup-board were capable off with gear and so on. how was the current in austria - did you ever fall in/lose the board?
Yeah so only time I got pulled over was crossing into Serbia all the other boarders just paddled boarded on by :). Current was fairly slow whole trip, some faster moving current by all the locks. Never fell in, had a couple close calls :).
Border crossings weren't really a thing you just paddled on through. Though when you got to Serbia the 1st major town you came to, I forget the name you had to check in and pay some money to use the waterway... It was kind of a hassle, cost about hmmm $60.
Man, that river looks awesome, the cities along it and the countries, especially if you finish it; and I forgot how rivers always have restaurants! :D And the comfort of that kind of tent does seem worth the added weight and time compared to a biwack. Did you look up dangerous animals beforehand? Because I did on my trip, so when I got woken up by a wild boar in the middle of the night alone in a forest! I knew to just stand up and make it notice/smell me (and hope it wasn't after my food / I was'nt between a mother and her kids), Also, did you just drink filtered river water the whole trip? Even if it gets rid of bacteria, is that fine?
Yeah the 1P tent was a nice change from my NEMO bivy, I liked the extra room, and it wasn't too much heavier. I didn't do too much research on dangerous animals. Yeah the bore scared me alright and I did have a cooler of food chilling by my tent. I filtered water I would say half the time with the Sawyer mini filter worked great and I didn't get sick. The other half of the time I would fill water up at a restaurant while I ate dinner.
Great stuff, i want to kayak the Danube in the future. Did you have to show passport at any of the borders? And how many times did you have to cross over land? Thanks a lot
No passport expect for Serbia you have to show yours and pay a fee to use the river. You pay this fee at the 1st town you come to, its kind of a hassle, if you arrive on the weekend you have to wait until the weekday to get it. It was around 50 Euros. Crossing over land? You got to cross over land a lot in Austria many dam portages though if your in a kayak some of the dams have Kayak slides. This is a great site with info,www.tour-international-danubien.org/index_E.php
I actually didn't fall in at all this trip, there was defiantly some close calls at times. Yeah I did a lot of paddling, many hours per day to reach that distance.
@@whoisadam me and a few mates are on about kayak the Danube, we live in the uk and are struggling on how to get kayaks to the river, any help would be appreciated
@@Joewilko Im sure there is a kayak store, there are plenty of boating sites all along the river, so depending where you want to start if there is a big town near by Im sure you can find a store.
Cool stuff man! Been following your work for a while way back from your Adam squared days. Any lessons learned or things that you might try differently next time around, or do you feel that you had enough preparation and the right gear for this trip?
I would no change too much, perhaps bring less bungees, invest in some seriously good sunscreen. I got to get better at being efficient with avoiding transaction fees, I need to do a better job and find a travelers credit card you can use without a foreign transaction fee or without any charges when withdrawing money. Every time I would withdrawal money from ATM, I would get a $5 fee. So to avoid racking up fees I would withdrawal a large amount at a time, and I didn't plan well and have way to many Euros left over. Did pretty good with the other currencies. Just some small detail stuff but nice to get it all wired, I wasted say $35 in fees. I though was smart and got a Euro SIM card that covered me pretty much the whole trip, way better option than trying to make my Verizon service work over there. Going to look into a good solar power charger for next trip.
I guess persistence is the red lining in your life. Your character inspires me! Thnx man!
Persistence or being slightly crazy... I do like to move.
Amazing trip and video Adam! Glad you made it back in one piece!

Yeah, I had to include the vomit shot, hahah, nice and close up on it. ; )

Wondering if you were able to do the Romanian section?. Awesome trip and thanks for sharing.
I was going to do the rest of the danube this year had my tickets bought but due to covid I had to cancel it. Maybe 2021.
You should have made to romania/the delta on the Black Sea. Awesome work
Perhaps in 2019 I shall.
I love this video. Did you ever return to paddle the rest of the river

Probably complete the Danube at some point, maybe the Rhine, part of the Nile. We shall see.

Yeah its all just edge of river, I think its fine, all free game, no private land to my knowledge or any signs.
