    This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2022 Porsche Cayenne mid-size luxury SUV. If you want an SUV with an entertaining and sporty drive, look no further than the Porsche Cayenne.Our test model is the base Cayenne with a 3L turbocharged V6 and an 8-speed automatic transmission. It has 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque with standard AWD. You have to put premium fuel in this Cayenne. Other models available include, the Cayenne S, E-Hybrid, GTS, Turbo, Turbo S E-Hybrid and Turbo GT. Horsepower power ranges from 335 on the base model to 670 combined horsepower on the Turbo S E-Hybrid. What’s new for 2022? An updated infotainment system that now includes, wireless Apple Carplay and wired Android Auto. The Navigation system is quicker and the voice recognition software has been updated to better recognize instructions. There is also a new Platinum Edition trim which adds satin finishes to the exterior, black sport tailpipes, 21” RS Spyder design wheels, chalk seatbelts and brushed aluminum door entry sills. This model comes with more standard features like a panoramic sunroof, Bose sound system and leather sport seats. It is available on the base Cayenne, S and E-Hybrid models. The Cayenne offers standard features like a 12.3” touchscreen, 8-way power heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, 10-speaker audio system, power liftgate, LED headlights and LED taillights plus 19” wheels. We recommend adding the Premium Package for $6,970 CAD/$6,470 USD to get the panoramic sunroof, Bose surround system, comfort access, lane change assist, 14-way power seats with memory package and power steering plus. The Premium Plus Package for $9,790 CAD/$8,950 USD has everything in the Premium Package plus ambient lighting, LED Matrix headlights, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and 4-zone climate control. If you are not interested in the packages but want a panoramic sunroof, you can add it for $2,120 CAD/$1,850 USD. JD Power gives the 2022 Porsche Cayenne a quality and reliability score of 81/100 and an overall score of 82/100. The Cayenne starts at $79,200 CAD/$69,000 USD and the Platinum Edition Trim starts at $92,800 CAD/$79,000 USD.

    A Porsche is always a step above BMW, Mercedes and Audi. To me, it's always a head turner.

    • @xorbitman
      @xorbitman 2 года назад +5

      I disagree, Porsche doesn't have anything that compares to any of those manufacturers that you mentioned in a 4 door sedan. Taycan and Panamera aren't really that nice.

    • @82dupont
      @82dupont 2 года назад +3

      VW owns Porsche and Audi, the Cayenne is essentially a Q7, uses the same platform, transmission, electrical components, if you get the Cayenne with a V6, you are getting a Q7 with Porsche badging and price, since the same engine is available for both cars.
      Only reason to get Porsche is if you get the V8 Twin Turbo, then it’s a Q7 with a more powerful engine.

    • @PamirAFG
      @PamirAFG 2 года назад +2

      @@82dupont that's false, the same platform is used for Bentley SUV, it's all about suspension, engine and transmission tuning. Btw the transmission is made by a Japanese company, they make same transmission for Toyota. So you can't say that it's similar to Toyota truck etc. Lots of shared parts indeed with other cars which is a great thing when you source parts or fluids, it makes owning a Cayenne much more affordable when you do your own wrenching.
      Cayenne is on another level in terms of interior, handling and quality.

    • @82dupont
      @82dupont 2 года назад

      @@PamirAFG …So you tell me it’s false then you go on to say that they share the same transmission, parts and platform which makes it more affordable to get parts for guys who wrench their own?
      The MLB-EVO platform is shared by 13 of VW models, which include the Cayenne, Touareg the Q7.
      I’m not saying that the Porsche is not going to have it’s own personality and interior design that set it apart, however when you realize that VW is sharing many components between it’s Toureg, Audi and Porsche lines, it kind of takes away the special feeling of owning a Porsche. That’s just my opinion.

    • @PamirAFG
      @PamirAFG 2 года назад +1

      @@82dupont I said false to your assumption that Cayenne is essentially a q7. sharing parts doesn't make it essentially the same, if that's the case then Bentley SUV is also a q7

    Nice review as always! Cayenne is the best SUV in the segment in my opinion but I'd have to say the real fun starts with the S model. It's worth the step up in a big way and really transforms the 4,800 hundred pound SUV! Turbo is amazing but it's got a big price tag to boot and probably is a bit overkill with 550 hp It's still a luxury SUV. Just read the Car and Driver review on the S and see for yourself what they have to say. Definitely get the air suspension and rear axel steering it transforms the SUV.! Cheers.

    I like the placement of the cupholders in the centre console, relative to the controls in that centre console. So many cars assume that no one will actually HAVE drink cups in the cup holders when using the controls. That should be a standard part of your reviews - put something like Starbucks Venti coffee cups into every cup holder there, and THEN see how easy/practical it is to actually use the controls (be they buttons, touchpads, wheels, etc).

    Love your reviews! Great information and fun interaction. A few years ago I fulfilled my dream and got a Boxster S. I agree with your comment about Porsche quality. Not only on reliability but my car seems to have been tuned really well to balance the power and handling. My car is not a powerhouse but the software just matches the shifts and the handling so that it seems to be intuitive. As you said, it is a rewarding drive. One request on your test of SUVs, or any other car, is whether you can show how a set of golf clubs fit in? I'm an addicted golfer and that is one of my car buying metrics. 😂😂😂

      I agree 100% I've been trying to find a 2014 - 2016 low mileage Boxster or Boxster S in any color except black or dark blue in SW Florida for the last 2 years. Preferably red or white. They're beautiful and according to Consumers Reports and JD Power Porsche quality is still one of the best! A used Corvette Stingray C8 is selling for almost double what the MSRP is and they've had a lot of quality issues including exploding engines due to transmissions problems, so much so that GM themselves have launched an internal investigation!

Also wonder about thoughts on the hybrid? After all, once you spend over $100,000 on a car who cares about gas consumption! And I am writing this as oil rises over $100! Seems to me the cost of maintaining a hybrid will be crazy as it gets older. Cheers!

    How expensive is the maintenance on your Cayenne? Ridiculously expensive? I’m in the market for a family SUV. I’m considering Lexus RX 350, BMW X5 and the Cayenne. I do want something exciting to drive. Your videos are great.👍🏽 Keep yo the good work.

    How reliable were the two Porsches you’ve owned? I’m looking at going from Japanese luxury to German luxury and worried about reliability.

    Awesome SUV, but I have to stay with specing a 2022 Macan S. Much sportier feel. Great video as always!

      I agree, the Macan is smaller and the S and GTS models are so fun to drive. If you need the space the Cayenne is a great alternative, but pricey. Thanks for watching!

    You forgot about the Jaguar F-Pace SVR, about the same price as a loaded base model Cayenne but you get a V8.

    the problem with porsche is that not only is the entry point damn expensive but each additional item adds to the cost. i have an older boxster that i imported from the states and will keep it, hopefully, forever. i did look at a 911 4s a couple of years ago but for just a few add-ons it became stupid expensive and they wouldn't budge on price. so, i bought a mercedes sl450 instead. great highway runner which i will also keep for a long time.

    I was looking at getting a cayenne for the space if offers compare to my GLC but does the increase of space as you mentioned in the back seat a big improvement over the 2021 model year?

    This seems like a relative good value compared to it's rivals and from what they say about reliability it inspires some confidence but maintenance is my main concern. What does it need to keep it in good to excellent running condition? Like this isn't a Toyota. German engineering sounds amazing to experience but what are fair expectations in terms of additional cost to maintenance and visits to your dealership? That's the main cause for pause with me but otherwise this seems to have it all. Great video. Thank you!

    Great review, great car! The car price in CA/US is so sweet for car lovers. From Vietnam, due to the exclusive tax for imported-cars, we must pay at least x3 times for this Porsche Cayenne, fyi.
