I think Pip is a good second place, seeing as his own creators have voiced their hatred of him and killed him off just so they didn't have to deal with him anymore, but Meg is absolutely the number one. She doesn't even get the decency of being written off the show. 90% of her existence is just being bullied and tormented by her family.
@@cathal534 well he is friends with Butters and Dougie and he did make it to the Top 6 for potential replacements for Butters and Kenny in the Boy's friend group so he likely gained a lot more respect later on. He also did say he hated French people in Conjoined Fetus Lady and worked with the other boys to duct tape Mark Cotswold in Hooked on Monkey Phonics. Plus Pip was put in the School's Wall of Honor in Stick of Truth meanwhile Meg was completely disrespected after her death. So I'd probably still say Meg is a bigger punching bag.
In early seasons yes but until you find out how creepy and how much of predatory she is i dont care after that its like with glen right you think he is a player until you find out much of a disgusting human being he really is
I think the reason people see Squidward as a punching bag is due to how his torture episodes changed after the release of the movie. Seasons 1-3, heck, even some instances in season 4 show that Squidward usually did something to deserve the torment he got. They felt more like karma trips. A lot of episodes after those seasons just have him being tortured because he's the grumpy one and it usually happens because of how dumb SpongeBob and Patrick can be. At least in Jellyfishing, where he was severely injured, they were trying to make the best out of the day. Suddenly, we had episodes like Breath of Fresh Squidward, Cephalopod Lodge or Are You Happy Now where Squidward has to be punished for existing and can't just be happy no matter what. The latter especially is really sad because SpongeBob actually goes out of his way to be as nice and helpful as possible and the world is still against him!
exactly this, in the early episodes, Squidward's suffering was the consequence of his own arrogance, he wasn't even as depressed and sad as he is now in the show, being more cocky
The only real pre-movie moment where he ever was sad or depressed I remember was in One Krabs Trash when he puts some flowers next to a coffin that reads "Here lies Squidward's hopes and dreams", but that's more of a joke than a part of the story and even then, it's not as morbid as him wanting to hang himself when he doesn't have any happy memories!
In my opinion, Klaus is probably the biggest punching bag. He was stripped away of his humanity, lost his dream as an olympic athlete, was forced to live as a pet for someone who works for the people who did that to him and he was also forced to care about a family that torments him in the biggest case of stockholm syndrome I've seen on TV. And it's very clear that he resents the family because he tries to get revenge almost inmediately each time gets the chance after becoming human in some episodes.
@victorowen2592 True I won't deny that. Doesn't help he likes being the "glue" to the family in a way to be abused by them to keep them together just like Meg thinks being abused is for the best. So disturbing they both had that same arc for that 😳
I think Klaus's punching bag status varies more than some of the other characters, he gets shit on a lot but I think it's occasionally justifiable, he also does stuff sometimes, like he'll have little adventures with Roger sometimes, some more "adventurous" than others
My vote is Meg. She got a whole episode to finally stand up for herself and instead of riding that high she goes back to being the overused joke at the end. I feel for her. Not gonna lie she old enough why doesn't she just move out and save herself?
I'm glad that Meg developed more as a character but way later on in the show. She's still awkward from what I see, but finding her own flair and having more fun these days.
I think it's really telling that the staff treated Meg so so poorly, that fans had to complain to actually get them cut it out. None of the other punching bags had it anywhere near as bad. The Meg stuff is not even funny its just excessively cruel
@@youresinningtoo3996For what I know, they started to 'torture' her because the fans hated her in the earlier seasons. Ironically, her "popularity" (so to speak) these days came from feeling bad of how much she os mistreated.
@BNK2442 True, in earlier seasons people said she was the most boring, un interesting, and most annoying main character and most people didn't enjoy her storylines(like her going out with Neil Goldman) no one cared about stuff like that, but they laughed when she was the butt of the joke
@@gamexsimmonds3581honestly they shuld just give her a new storyline. Just make her happy and unhinged. Just let her do whatever she wants to do no. Matter how fked up it is. Meg has a massive fanbase and they'll happily watch any misadventure where she is happy.
it's so interesting that when it comes to the punching bags of animation, especially south park's punching bags, they end up being either 1 of the most loved characters in the show or 1 of the most hated characters. it's always interesting seeing just how much they stand out in the minds of people and how loved or hated they become in comparison with their respective shows
Because that type of cruel, mean-spirited humour hasn't aged well at all. There's nothing funny about characters that exist purely to be kicked around.
@@MrJamaigar In fairness I think Butters is the only time ive found it funny. Hes my favorite and I love when the lil man wins. But the curel things that happen to him are funny because he bounces off of it innocently. Well told jokes.
I would say Meg is the biggest punching bag. Squidward sometimes deserved his pain, Pip's existence was short, Butters and Kenny have their moments of success, Zoidberg had a happy ending (hopefully it'll last), Jerry has experienced some positive character growth and Klaus is included as part of the family on occasion. But Meg? She really does suffer the most for no reason.
@@DmbFoundthey can’t kill off a character who’s existence is to be shat on tho and is part of the family. anyways it’s the similar for pip, except the creators got tired and killed him off so he wouldn’t keep being the punching bag. meg has to keep enduring it tho cus she can’t get killed off.
What about Kif from Futurama? He puts up with so much, mostly from Zapp Brannigan. But as for the biggest punching bag in all animation, I would say Meg Griffin.
i think kif is liked by most characters though and has proved himself time again, like the main characters like kif, he even is with amy. Its just zapp and amys parents that dont like kif
I think the worst one for me is Meg and this comes with a lot of trauma. Back when I was in middle school and when the earlier seasons of Family Guy were out the kids at school would basically treat me like her. It was all because I wasn't conventionally attractive and just weird. It was absolutely awful.
What? No Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz? The neurotic, divorced scientist who's family treated him so terribly he turned to a life of petty revenge, who always has a tragic backstory for everything? Halfway through the series OWCA basically just stopped trying to thwart his "evil" plans and just hassled him wherever he goes and even Perry the Platypus basically goes from "defeating him is my duty" to "I feel terrible about this poor schmuck." His parents even invented a horrifying monster story to scare him into behaving while telling his brother that the same monster is a kindly, gift giving friend to all children. He does have a happy ending and his daughter Vanessa does care enough for him and it's mutual, but at the same time he projects his bad childhood on his robot son. If there was any embodiment of "this guy needs a hug" it's this guy.
The funny thing about Kenny, as I remember, is that while he's not-infrequently the target of Cartman's abuse, he's also one of the boys most likely to stand up to it and "get Cartman back". I remember more than a few occasions where a callous insult resulted in him just hitting Cartman... And the whole "Mysterio" plotline involved a scene where Kenny openly said that he found Cartman's frustration amusing.
Out of pip, Kenny, and butter’s I have to say pip Kenny is not hated Butters is hated but he’s never been given pip treatment And pip is hated by mostly everyone and he’s been killed because the creators even hate him
Definitely agree on Meg, I stopped watching Family Guy years ago but when I did her treatment was just abysmal. Like you said, it also felt a little too real
Honestly seems hard between Meg and Pip. Meg actually seems valued in the show which sounds like a good thing but that means that she will get used more often and not actually get killed off so her torture will continue until the show finally ends. Pip meanwhile is actually hated by everyone including the creators which is a new level of being disliked but he was actually killed off, so unless the creators have a new idea for him, his torture is over. So its a choice between un-ending torture because you are valued as a character or being hated by literally everyone but killed off so your time is done.
I vote for meg and honestly hated the fact that she had to apologize for telling the truth in the storm episode. Basically she didn't owe them anything after what they did to her for years 😒
I agree with your personal pick myself. The fact that not one writer took the time to try to connect with one woman or teenage girl to try to figure out how to write Meg, and rather went right to "teenage girl? Let's put her down and then flat out mistreat her" was what made me stop watching.
I’m definitely torn between three. Meg, Klaus and Pip. Pop was very sweet but I do recall being annoyed by him. Not sure if it was the accent or what (I’m English) but he was just grating. Personality wise though I thought he was sweet and didn’t deserve any of it. Klaus, I remember being so shocked and horrified by the one episode of them trying to kill him in the sink and at the end of the episode he comes to accept that’s what he’s there for? Very similar to the Meg storyline. And of course Meg because of everything her family puts her through. I think Klaus wins just the slightest bit higher for me out of the three as it’s the only one I felt truly horrified over.
My pick would be Meg. I so much agree with you. Her family seemed to just hate her, and she is treated so poorly for so long(her family even bond over their mutual hate for her, as you say its many times the glue keeping them together), and I can't even remember, if I ever thought any of it was actually funny. It mostly just seemed down right cruel. (Most epidodes of family guy I have watched, I have only watched once) But many of the characters you mention as punshingbags, you can't help feeling sorry for. I love Kenny( as said before, he is my absolute favorite south park character, and one of my favorite animated characters in general), and most of the times he dies, its just really unfortunate, and he is so well liked by most people(you just can't hate him, and he is such a good big brother) that he does not deserve the title here.
I think the Family Guy showrunners and Mila Kunis came to an agreement that Meg would be treated terribly considering that Mila was focusing on other film and media projects at the time, so she wouldn’t be able to do much voice acting with her character, so why not have continuous running gags of the family treating Meg like shit (mostly Peter, that is). I think when Meg once again started having story arcs, the whole family still treating her this way and most of them seeming more apathetic all around, it just wasn’t funny anymore for Meg to be treated like this.
Meg Griffin is so mistreated that a bunch of people stopped watching the show. It's not rare to see people saying that online. I don't think I've see anyone say that about any other punching bag character. Props to Jerry and his character arc. I used to just hate that guy, and now he says things sometimes that I think are really insightful. He's embracing what's good about Jerry and leaving his insecurity behind. A lot of people hate that, but I think it's nice to see people on TV make progress. I think that helps encourage people sometimes.
I have to go with Baxter Stockman from Ninja Turtles 03- Back to the Sewers. Though the show lasted 7 seasons he only had a proper human body for the first season. Each time he failed Shredder he lost a body part or was tortured. The guy became a brain in a jar and while wanting to die nobody let him. In Season 4 he finally got a regular body but then it decomposed on him & he was going insane to the point where he thought at one point April was his mother when in actuality his mother had been dead for 20+ years. While he did regain his sanity he only got back a body 100 years later
To be precise, every adaptation of the TMNT comics treats Baxter like shit. He was forcefully by accident turned into a fly in the original 80's series; had slowly become a cyborg in the 2K3 Series; somehow gets more bullied in the 2K12 series; and the more I say about what happened to him in both Michael Bays live action duology and Mutant Mayhem films, the more you feel sorry for that guy.
I do agree with you that Meg seems to get it the worst. But in the Simpsons universe there is one other character you neglected to mention. A man who never seems to catch a break. And that’s Gill.
You dont see squid ward as a punching bag because he was portray as a angry guy, but if you see it his way he lived where no one like him no matter what he doing and praised spongebob doing the same as squidward, like during the talent show at the krusty krab, where squiadward was doing a dance and after being boo off the stage, he compared sponge and him doing the same where spongebob was being praised while squidward was horrible, also anytime something happed to squidward, of course SpongeBob and patrick ruin it for him
Mrs Puff could also fit the least, especially in the newer seasons. Even if she's not really involved in what is going on (like in Oral Report), she's still put in jail nontheless
Presuming he counts, I’d say Eric from stressed Eric is a good candidate. With everyone else here, at least they range from deuteragonist to side character, so not every moment of the show is dedicated to making them miserable, as opposed to Eric, who, as the protagonist, basically spends the entirety of the show being tortured.
I feel Bill Dauterive from king of the hill deserves a honorary mention because not only he’s a divorcee, experimented by the military, has a hard time finding love, taken advantage on the occasion, and in one episode he’s been attacked by Dale’s hawk three times.
I would definitely pick Butters. He gets so much crap from everyone, but definitely from Cartman. However, just like "Tsst!" was a turning point for Lianne as far as tolerating Cartman's abuse, I think "Dikinbaus" will be a game changer for Butters. But then again, I said the same thing about "Awesome-O" and "Faith +1"
I feel their are some characters should be mentioned are: -Toiletnator (Codename:Kids Next door) -Box Ghost (Danny Phantom) -Timmy Turner or any miserable kids (Fairy Oddparents) -Moxxie (Helluva Boss) -Unnamed Cabbage Merchant (Avatar the Last Airbender) -Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Phineas and Ferb)
Before R&M first aired the choice would obv be Meg but the answer is literally Jerry no one ever compares to Jerry. Jerry once thought he was going to get and just said nothing and accepted it even though that wasn’t what was going to happen( he was literally going to get a “win”)
The biggest punching bag in all of animation is one you likely won't even mention. Wile E Coyote (super genius) and I don't even need to explain myself do I? The moment you read this you said "yeah...kinda."
A lot of the unfortunate stuff that happens to him, he sort of does to himself. If he's got so much money to buy and get all these insane devices delivered to the middle of nowhere, why doesn't he just order a pizza, lol? 😃
I think Kiff the green alien from Futurama is also a bit of a punching bag as Zapp is just a bully always bossing him around to do meaningless tasks, beginning underappreciated & 'dying' in one episode due to the captions lack of patience.
One good example would have to be Timmy Turner from Fairly Odd Parents, especially in the episode It's a Wishful Life (seriously finding out that the lives of everyone around you would be better if you weren't born would just mess anyone up mentally.)
Bill Dauterive from King of the Hill should of been mentioned. His friends and neighbors are always picking on him especially Dale. Not to mention that every lady he ever dated was disgusted by him. Bill is just a broken shell of a man that never bounced back from his downfalls in life.
I’m surprised no one’s said Moxxie from Helluva Boss yet. When he’s not on a mission, he’s either being insulted, tossed around like a rag doll, or just being generally disliked.
im late to this but i wish honorable mentions were in this video so Joe Swanson can get mentioned. poor dude, getting his yard ruined by Peter's helicopter, having a chance to stand after a skiing accident but then losing his ability to walk less than a second thanks to his son, getting a parrot and introducing it to Peter only for Peter decided to repeat the word "crippled" a bunch of times to the parrot so it can repeat it back. getting a new wheelchair but after introducing his new wheelchair he just gets thrown into the trash by Terroriser Peter. this guy just can't get a break
Can’t help but feel they could’ve been more creative way to write out Kenny from the show. He’s known to beat death constantly, so actually dying doesn’t make sense. Have his parents win the lottery and move away. Then they blow it all and have to move back when they decide to bring him back
It’s easily Meg. I would say Butters but as South Park has been derailing starting with season 20 because of the political environment becoming more and more sensitive (with the exception of episodes 1 2 and 5 of season 26) Butters has been treated better and more normal and his character has matured too much
Always felt like the Meg of my family so her treatment always hit me a little harder. Actually dropped watching FG for a while because for a bunch of seasons it became just too gratuitous. But recently did a full re/watch including all the seasons since i’d given up on the show & was thrilled to see Meg being given better storylines & jokes in the last like 5ish seasons
Well I would have put Ling Ling from Drawn together on that list too. -He's been enslaved -gets killed alot -Got abused as a drug in one episode -was used for his Asian talents like cheating in a test or when he was supposed to get his driver's license -he's often forgotten by the characters when they aren't abusing him
I think Squidward has a well earned spot high up here. He is physically (and psychologically) tortured constantly and the new seasons have not been letting up on it.
I think some honourable mentions would have been Granny from squidbillies, meatwad & carl from athf, connie from brickleberry, ling-ling & wooldoor from drawn together, tom & uncle ruckus from the boondocks, (even though uncle ruckus usually deserved it), oscar from the proud family, the parrot from el tigre, peck from barnyard, grim and puddin from billy & mandy, dib from invader zim, and if you consider anime and cartoons the same thing i'd say jelly jiggler from bobobo, and yamcha from dragon ball.
I think Tom from Tom & Jerry actually puts up with a lot. Yeah, he tries to kill Jerry. But at least almost everybody is on Jerry's side. Spike hates Tom and beats up on him, Jerry always gets one over on him. And it just seems like everybody in the show hates Tom for doing what he's supposed to do. And even Jerry stole his girl a couple times. And since Itchy & Scratchy is an extreme version of Tom & Jerry, my nominee for biggest punching bag in animation is Scratchy from The Simpsons.
One of my picks for a Punching bag character is Moxxie from Helluva Boss, Although much like Squidward hes not really that much of a punching bag, although he is still the butt of a joke, from being called fat by his Co-Worker Loona, being verbally abused mainly by Blitzo, and also dealing with his Abusive and greedy father, Crimson, those are the only moments i can recall since its been a few months since i watched the episodes where he appeared in, especially since the newer episodes haven't been focusing much on Moxxie or any of the rest of VIP for that matter, aside from a bit of full moon but still Edit: I actually did not expect him alongside Millie to appear in the lastest Short, Mission Antarctica, although its just a short, atleast he had more of a role there
I think Kif from Futurama deserves a mention, even if he isn’t as big of a butt monkey as some of these characters. Sure, the other characters generally seem to like him well enough, and he has a good relationship with his smizmar, Amy. But the way Zapp treats him is so cruel.
I personally would vote for hans moleman as teh biggest punching bag in animation. because Zoidberg remained happy for the most part depsite his loniliness always eager to try try again w/ making friends. and hes also won the respect of qbert as a father figure, experiences motherhood on greatest fantasies planet, fell in love w/ that girl and even won $8 milllion for a a night of his life. Meg & Klaus have been able to stand up for themselves on a couple occassions meg w/ seshell party & the epeisode where she fakes her death. Klaus for that future "im the glue" episode & the episode he tormented roger & steve w/ the idea of revenge. heck he even mind controlled the whole town of langely. but both chose to step down & remain the punching bag. Pip is a close 2nd since he literally had no friends but like zoidberg seemed to remain happy throughoput it & atleast got to win a dodgeball tournament taht surely built up his confidence off screen. squidward not a chance as he finds many ways to be happy and persue his clarinet career. & kenny became a better person over time when he became mysterion & fought to make his little sister happy ever since which went on up to the gentrification episode of south park where he got a job just to go buy his lil sis her very own doll meanwhile Hans Moleman, constantly dies is always ignored by all and never once finds love even his own family pulle dteh plug on him to show he probably never even had a happy child hood
I've been revisiting the Simpsons from your timelines, and yeah, it's both Groundskeeper Willie and Charles Montgomery Burns for me. I'm just head over heels for those two old geezers
Klaus is pretty much American dad's Meg. He's hated and picked for no reason at all at times. Both even had an episode wherein it's revealed they're being bullied is what's holding the family together and by the end made to accept their awful role. Except arguably klaus has it worse coz he's.. you know, a fish.
Klaus kinda deserves it, he mind controlled the town, he didn’t share his birthday with his *boys* .He stole Stans body, He hates Jews. He tried to kill Rogu, He forced Steve to go to his comedy show. He trapped the family in his brain. Also fish is stupid cause I said so 😡
Let's talk terms of unfairness... I think when it comes to the universe being arbitrarily cruel to someone who doesn't deserve it...Zoidberg is undisputed champion. John Zoidberg actually is an accomplished alien doctor, and a loyal friend to Professor Farnsworth. The problem is, Farnsworth was only able to get him a job _on earth,_ and he lacks the expertise to be a proper doctor for _humans._ He's a rather over-qualified individual who is stuck in a dead-end position where his skills are useless. And because of this under-valuing of his profession, everyone around him - even the universe itself - seems to treat him like dirt. Every time something turns around for him, life slaps back. Heck, at one point he had only a 5-Dollar coupon to his name and life took that from him too. Pulling up second would have to be Meg; her crime is that she was _born,_ and that's it. She's stuck in an abusive family who takes all their frustrations out on her. And worse, every time she has a chance to get away, circumstances keep drawing her back. The problem really stemming from Meg is that, being a teenage girl, she hasn't really warranted any sort of good karma _against_ her cruel mistreatment, and even worse, her situation has caused some severe mental illnesses that pop-up every now and then. Here's hoping there's a Tell-All Book or Hallmark Channel Movie about her life and upbringing in her future. I'd even go as far as to say that Jerry is pretty high on the list as well. The show wants to paint Jerry as being a bad person - that he's somehow a predator that manipulates people into taking pity on him, when he's clearly _not._ The truth with Jerry is...he's just a _normal guy._ Seriously, Jerry is painfully average - he's just a guy trying to get by in life, in a world that is becoming increasingly cold and indifferent, surrounded by a family unit that despises him. Jerry's quest for validation isn't born out of some misplaced sense of ego - it's a natural human emotional response to need and seek approval - to feel like people value and appreciate us. And yet, this basic human decency is apparently too-much for the members of Jerry's family to even _fake_ for a fraction of their time, and the writers seem to agree with them. Frankly, much like Meg, Jerry is in a situation where the Family holds him back. Let's say he never met Beth and didn't have the responsibility of supporting two kids who don't respect, appreciate, or even love him. If Jerry was just an average guy only concerned with looking out for himself - he'd _probably be better off._ The sad thing is, that's the show's thesis statement - that people are _better off alone._ The Show encourages being a selfish-asshole because the universe is cruel and indifferent to suffering; so get yours even if you have to take-it from someone else. Now here's the _real tragedy of Jerry._ Everything that's happened is _literally not his fault._ It's Rick's. Why? How could two people as incompatible as Beth and Jerry end-up together? And I'm not talking about the accident that resulted in Summer - I'm talking about the circumstances that led-up to said accident occurring in the first place. It's been revealed that Ricks hang-out with their respective Mortys because a Morty's brainwaves compliment Rick's in such a way, that they camouflage Rick from detection. And we also see from Rick's memories that when the Citadel of Ricks got established, they purposefully began manipulating their Beths' life-choices with the intent of creating Mortys. They began drugging various Beths and Jerrys to ensure that they get set-up together, so that Mortys can then be born. And _that's_ the reason that Beth is with Jerry; it wasn't an accident of two irresponsible teens hooking-up before marriage. It was a conspiracy set by a multiversal conglomerate of her own father, intending for this unwanted outcome. _That's why_ the main Rick in the series _hates Jerry so much._ His own version of Beth is _dead._ And he hates the very idea and concept of the Citadel, even though he had a hand in creating it. He hates that they would go so far as to manipulate their own versions of their daughters, setting them up with some _loser,_ just so they can create an idiot grandson. But here's the real ironic part - like I said _it's all Rick's fault_ and I was being _specific._ Because the entire Citadel of Rick's created a kind of gravity-field that keeps their multiverse contained to eventualities where Rick is the smartest, most powerful being known to exist. They are hiding from any potential threat so that they can be unchallenged. But then, why do they have Mortys? Who are they hiding from? Each Rick is capable of taking out their own version of the Galactic Federation all on their own, so it's really not that big a threat. No, the Citadel of Ricks popularized the use of the Morty-Wave Camouflage, in order to hide _from Rick himself._ We see that while hunting Rick Prime, Rick went on a massive Rick-Killing-Spree, resulting in thousands of Ricks being killed. Eventually the other Ricks called a truce with him, and together they created a Citadel to act as a kind of neutral-zone, where _they could be safe from him._ But whenever they step-outside that zone, they are afraid they're as good as fair-game; so they take a Morty to try and hide from him - not due to the Camouflage - but due to the fact that they know, the One Rick that Rick has been hunting _doesn't travel with a Morty._ Having their Mortys with them is effectively their safety-badge. So yeah...Jerry is hated and mistreated not because of his own inadequacies and poor life choices...But because his would-be-father-in-law literally manipulated his life, to pair-him-up with his daughter, so that he could take-advantage of their idiot-son.
Pip, not only Pip was hated by every character in South Park, but tons of people who were fans of the show also hate Pip. Even the writers of the show hated Pip,they made him his own episode and it was so bad that Pip rarely appeared in the show. There is a reason why they have to kill Pip.
Oh no! No! No! No! No! No! We have had way too many Lisa episodes! At this point she's basically been put on a pedestal! In the old ones, yeah, she had some issues, but nowadays? Don't make me laugh.
I will never forget (nor understand the In-universe logic for) "Chose between family and fame, but family is more important...When your family seems to despise your very existence". That was the most forced Moment Meg ever got, and Honestly, I can't help but really blame the writers for INCLUDING that part but didn't actually give a good REASON to not chose fame and a good life over a family life defined by how much everybody hates you. She deserved better.
I'd say it's Meg since compared to many of the other punching bag characters it hasn't diminished but rather increased over time whilst making her more unlikable to the audience too with her "relationship" with Chris, pinning for Joe and Brian, murderer etc. to and her "comeuppance" episodes have never reached the levels of others. Closest ones after her I'd say is Pip and Zoidberg but both kinda got their conclusions to alleviate it.
I'm excited for my 30th birthday in a few months, but l'm almost just as excited for next year, when l get to quote Hans Moleman: "Alcohol has ruined my life. I'M 31 YEARS OLD!"
As far as butt monkeys go Butters has to be #1. Very few characters have been through as much as him. Edit: mecha streisand was season 14!? It seems like a hundred years ago. Holy crap that show has been on forever.
Meg unfortunately deserves #1. This is because I literally forgot about her until she came up in the video. When seeing how many punching bags there were, I thought to myself, “huh, Family Guy doesn’t have one”.
All other Genres: _World tries to teach a Designated punching bag that, that's all they can ever be and must accept that fate but that person eventually finds their courage and conviction, rises up, suffers a few set backs but finally shows the world that they will not be a punching bag anymore, thus world learns a lesson and person finds their peace and happiness and success._ Audience: *Applause* _"So sad and so inspirationally moving... really felt for the person...Punching Bags are people with feelings too and deserve to be treated rightly... such a beautiful lesson"_ Comedy sitcoms: _Designated Punching Bags must exist & can never change their fate & their lives will be made even more miserable should they have the nerve to even dare try..._ Audience: _So freaking funny and too right... Get that punching Bag...Love seeing punching bags get exactly what they don't deserve… it's pure comedy gold...._
Kenny. He dies every episode from season 1 to 3 and even nowadays he dies if it benefits the story. He's the most selfless character in the show and he gets made fun of by his friends too much, and they dont even remember him dying. They dont try help him, instead they stand there and say "OMG! They killed Kenny!" "You bastards!"
Of this list, Meg for sure. But Squidward is definitely up there too despite not being on the list. There is even a category for "bad episodes" called "Squidward Torture" episodes which are the ones where Squidward is tormented, tortured and usually seriously injured FOR NO REASON. He didn't do anything bad/mean to anyone at the time and is usually just trying to have a moment to himself. More like earlier seasons Meg where she was just a sweet, confused teenager trying to survive with a crappy family not helping things. Sure, Squidward definitely has his moments of being terrible, but a lot of the ST episodes don't include him REMOTELY deserving what happens. Hecc I think even if you take his WORST behavior and the WORST things he's done, it still doesn't justify HALF of the stuff he's put through just because he's Squidward.
I think we can almost all agree that Meg Griffin is by far the biggest punching bag in not only all of animation but in the the entirety of all that is TV. No character has suffered the extent of physical and psychological damage that she has which has lasted for almost the entirety of the show and it likely has no end in sight no matter how much the newer seasons try to redeem her character. Every character in the show seems to absolutely despise her and show zero sympathy for her even when they decide to jokingly have her die; the very rare few that do actually care for her are A) also treated as jokes (e.g Joe Swanson), B) have that character progression reversed by the next episode (e.g Peter Griffin), or C) get killed off gruesomely (most of her few actual boyfriends). If you even think of the phrase "punching bag" and attribute it to TV, Meg is the character that would instantly come to mind for pretty much everyone; and while Family Guy is usually very cartoony and nonsensical with its sense of reality/logic and infliction of pain, I do agree in that it still seems real and darkly relatable to some unfortunate people. Plus while the show always resets to stasis-quo at the end of each episode ("Everything's completely back to normal"), Meg's abuse does not; it has defined and shaped her character to this day and will be something she can't ever escape. My list of the biggest punching bags in animation is as follows: 1. Meg Griffin 2. Squidward Tentacles - The only character that has suffered even remotely enough torture as Meg and continues to be unreasonably miserable because of it; even for a kids show his torture is unnecessarily cruel and violent at times. 3. Klaus Heissler - Probably has suffered equal amounts of psychological torment to the point he's been driven insane and is desperate for the family that torments him and keeps him in his goldfish body to love him like one of their own; one episode in particular confirms this and cements his role as the show's unnecessarily tortured punching bag, but we can all agree it was a huge mistake 4. Hans Moleman - The Kenny of the Simpsons that never got redeemed and has forever remained a complete joke of a character over the show's entire 30+ years 5. Dr John Zoidberg - One of the very few on the list that has done almost nothing bad to anyone and is still treated miserably by almost everyone, thankfully he did receive a lover but she has yet to reappear in the revival. 6. Pip Pirrup - The only character that absolutely NO-ONE ever cared for in the slightest, but thankfully his abuse was mostly just insults and it didn't last for long until he was 'retired' . 7. Jerry Smith - His entire character is treated as a joke by everyone, but has eventually been accepted for he is. *Honourable mention: Joe Swanson - Family Guy's second punching bag that now also seems to be tortured and humiliated by everyone, now becoming the butt of all jokes handicapped and anything without functioning legs.
The irony is that what many consider SpongeBob’s greatest moment is when Squidward gets a rare W as the band leader in Band Geeks
Squidward represented what awaited most of us in life so much of the fandom cares more about his wins than SpongeBob or Patrick.

I think Pip is a good second place, seeing as his own creators have voiced their hatred of him and killed him off just so they didn't have to deal with him anymore, but Meg is absolutely the number one. She doesn't even get the decency of being written off the show. 90% of her existence is just being bullied and tormented by her family.
well 100% of pips existence is being bullied
@@cathal534 well he is friends with Butters and Dougie and he did make it to the Top 6 for potential replacements for Butters and Kenny in the Boy's friend group so he likely gained a lot more respect later on. He also did say he hated French people in Conjoined Fetus Lady and worked with the other boys to duct tape Mark Cotswold in Hooked on Monkey Phonics. Plus Pip was put in the School's Wall of Honor in Stick of Truth meanwhile Meg was completely disrespected after her death. So I'd probably still say Meg is a bigger punching bag.
Honestly, I'd say Hans Moleman and Klaus probably have it worse than Pip as well...
@@ultraexcalibur1728yes and i also would add pipi
MEG GRIFFIN AND KENNEDY
I agree, when Squidward was beat up in the first 4 seasons, it was with reason. Now it’s literally just for kicks
@@katlyndobransky2419I only recall the old episodes not the new ones.
That explains alot, he did get a human body and then tried to make a move on Francine though so unfortunately he has no sense of boundaries
@@dewolf123my guy is a prisoner in a house of wackadoos…he deserved to make that move…😂😂😂
@victorowen2592 True I won't deny that. Doesn't help he likes being the "glue" to the family in a way to be abused by them to keep them together just like Meg thinks being abused is for the best. So disturbing they both had that same arc for that 😳
I think Klaus's punching bag status varies more than some of the other characters, he gets shit on a lot but I think it's occasionally justifiable, he also does stuff sometimes, like he'll have little adventures with Roger sometimes, some more "adventurous" than others

it's so interesting that when it comes to the punching bags of animation, especially south park's punching bags, they end up being either 1 of the most loved characters in the show or 1 of the most hated characters. it's always interesting seeing just how much they stand out in the minds of people and how loved or hated they become in comparison with their respective shows
I agree. Butters is actually my favorite character in all of animation despite being a contender for the biggest punching bag
Because that type of cruel, mean-spirited humour hasn't aged well at all. There's nothing funny about characters that exist purely to be kicked around.
@@MrJamaigar In fairness I think Butters is the only time ive found it funny.

I think the worst one for me is Meg and this comes with a lot of trauma. Back when I was in middle school and when the earlier seasons of Family Guy were out the kids at school would basically treat me like her. It was all because I wasn't conventionally attractive and just weird. It was absolutely awful.
Yea I agree with you
What?
Can't forget about Cyril from Archer! To me he's one of the most memorable punching bags in animation. I always felt so bad for the poor guy lol.

Out of pip, Kenny, and butter’s I have to say pip
Kenny is not hated
Butters is hated but he’s never been given pip treatment
And pip is hated by mostly everyone and he’s been killed because the creators even hate him
I don’t think Butters is hated
@@fae206 in the fandom definitely not in the show that’s a different story
Yeah at least when the creators tried to killed off Kenny permanently, they realized their mistake and brought him back.
Definitely agree on Meg, I stopped watching Family Guy years ago but when I did her treatment was just abysmal. Like you said, it also felt a little too real
I gave up on Family Guy years ago too. The mistreatment of Meg was only half of it.
I really feel bad for Meg, the level of abuse she received in the show is unacceptable just cause the writers don't know anything about teenage girls
I laughed so hard when I was reminded of the time millhouse was on the run from the fbi! Definitely one of my favourite gags from the Simpsons 😂
Let's put her down and then flat out mistreat her" was what made me stop watching.
shes treated better now if u ever wanted to watch family guy again
Squidward got the worst karma in all of animation history, he even got attacked by a sea bear even after taking the necessary safety precautions.
Strong Sad. It’s a miracle bro is still alive.
The true test is their ability to stay positive but get cut down constantly. I’d say butters win
I love how often you use the “everybody spit on Meg” clip lol
I would definitely pick Butters. He gets so much crap from everyone, but definitely from Cartman. However, just like "Tsst!" was a turning point for Lianne as far as tolerating Cartman's abuse, I think "Dikinbaus" will be a game changer for Butters. But then again, I said the same thing about "Awesome-O" and "Faith +1"
I feel their are some characters should be mentioned are:
-Toiletnator (Codename:Kids Next door)
-Box Ghost (Danny Phantom)
-Timmy Turner or any miserable kids (Fairy Oddparents)
-Moxxie (Helluva Boss)
-Unnamed Cabbage Merchant (Avatar the Last Airbender)
-Dr.
My favorite of the punching bag eps hands down is when Zoidberg gets true love in the 2nd last ep of the CC run of Futurama. He needed that massively.
One good example would have to be Timmy Turner from Fairly Odd Parents, especially in the episode It's a Wishful Life (seriously finding out that the lives of everyone around you would be better if you weren't born would just mess anyone up mentally.)
Es por eso que es uno de los episodios más odiados de esa serie
I'd actually argue for Tooty instead of Timmy.
I mean, maybe I'm terrible but that first clip of Moleman had me in bits.
also given Han's old career as Mayor of Springfield makes his fall from grace quite steep
This one’s honestly a toughy, I wanna say Meg but you showed so many cases where it’s just a little difficult, they’re all treated so bad lol
Belive it or not but Pip is actually my favorite South park character. I feel bad for him because he was killed off.
so true
Bill Dauterive from King of the Hill should of been mentioned. His friends and neighbors are always picking on him especially Dale. Not to mention that every lady he ever dated was disgusted by him. Bill is just a broken shell of a man that never bounced back from his downfalls in life.
Not true, he got to be in a sandwich with those two women in that episode where they went to new orleans
I’m surprised no one’s said Moxxie from Helluva Boss yet. When he’s not on a mission, he’s either being insulted, tossed around like a rag doll, or just being generally disliked.
He’s got nothing on Kenny, Klaus, and Meg.
im late to this but i wish honorable mentions were in this video so Joe Swanson can get mentioned.
poor dude, getting his yard ruined by Peter's helicopter, having a chance to stand after a skiing accident but then losing his ability to walk less than a second thanks to his son, getting a parrot and introducing it to Peter only for Peter decided to repeat the word "crippled" a bunch of times to the parrot so it can repeat it back. getting a new wheelchair but after introducing his new wheelchair he just gets thrown into the trash by Terroriser Peter. this guy just can't get a break
I think Meg from Family guy is it’s every episode she gets picked on 👍
Can’t help but feel they could’ve been more creative way to write out Kenny from the show. He’s known to beat death constantly, so actually dying doesn’t make sense. Have his parents win the lottery and move away. Then they blow it all and have to move back when they decide to bring him back
It’s easily Meg. I would say Butters but as South Park has been derailing starting with season 20 because of the political environment becoming more and more sensitive (with the exception of episodes 1 2 and 5 of season 26) Butters has been treated better and more normal and his character has matured too much
Or because child abuse isn't that funny?
Squidward:
I kinda feel like either butters, pip, meg, or zoidberg
I could already tell this list was based on ADULT cartoon characters...but I feel like Lincoln Loud deserves a spot, personally
They mentioned Spongebob.
Butter’s already got the jackpot for the most strict and bad family in the show itself
Butters! But I am surprised Rigby from Regular Show didn't warrant a mention.
Well I would have put Ling Ling from Drawn together on that list too.
-He's been enslaved
-gets killed alot
-Got abused as a drug in one episode
-was used for his Asian talents like cheating in a test or when he was supposed to get his driver's license
-he's often forgotten by the characters when they aren't abusing him
the scene of no one coming to his birthday party😢
"You don't want to end up old and lonely like ZOID - BERG!" Great line.
I couldn’t stand Jerry.
I feel like more people are on Tom's side

One of my picks for a Punching bag character is Moxxie from Helluva Boss, Although much like Squidward hes not really that much of a punching bag, although he is still the butt of a joke, from being called fat by his Co-Worker Loona, being verbally abused mainly by Blitzo, and also dealing with his Abusive and greedy father, Crimson, those are the only moments i can recall since its been a few months since i watched the episodes where he appeared in, especially since the newer episodes haven't been focusing much on Moxxie or any of the rest of VIP for that matter, aside from a bit of full moon but still
Edit: I actually did not expect him alongside Millie to appear in the lastest Short, Mission Antarctica, although its just a short, atleast he had more of a role there
I think Kif from Futurama deserves a mention, even if he isn’t as big of a butt monkey as some of these characters. Sure, the other characters generally seem to like him well enough, and he has a good relationship with his smizmar, Amy. But the way Zapp treats him is so cruel.
That's a hard question to answer. There's meg from family guy, mole man from the Simpsons, Squidward from SpongeBob... There's many
I feel like Carl from ATHF could've had a spot on this list, or at least an honorable mention.
Meatwad
Gil from Simpsons is definitely a missed mention. Not a winner, but an honorable mention.
& kenny became a better person over time when he became mysterion & fought to make his little sister happy ever since which went on up to the gentrification episode of south park where he got a job just to go buy his lil sis her very own doll
meanwhile Hans Moleman, constantly dies is always ignored by all and never once finds love even his own family pulle dteh plug on him to show he probably never even had a happy child hood
Meg hands down.
Also fish is stupid cause I said so 😡
South park needs an episode where Cartman and Butters switch parents. I would love that so much!
The problem is, Farnsworth was only able to get him a job _on earth,_ and he lacks the expertise to be a proper doctor for _humans._
He's a rather over-qualified individual who is stuck in a dead-end position where his skills are useless.
The show wants to paint Jerry as being a bad person - that he's somehow a predator that manipulates people into taking pity on him, when he's clearly _not._
The truth with Jerry is...he's just a _normal guy._ Seriously, Jerry is painfully average - he's just a guy trying to get by in life, in a world that is becoming increasingly cold and indifferent, surrounded by a family unit that despises him.
But here's the real ironic part - like I said _it's all Rick's fault_ and I was being _specific._
Because the entire Citadel of Rick's created a kind of gravity-field that keeps their multiverse contained to eventualities where Rick is the smartest, most powerful being known to exist. They are hiding from any potential threat so that they can be unchallenged. But then, why do they have Mortys? Who are they hiding from? Each Rick is capable of taking out their own version of the Galactic Federation all on their own, so it's really not that big a threat.
No, the Citadel of Ricks popularized the use of the Morty-Wave Camouflage, in order to hide _from Rick himself._
We see that while hunting Rick Prime, Rick went on a massive Rick-Killing-Spree, resulting in thousands of Ricks being killed.
This post just made me hate Rick and Morty even more. L Rick
Butters ass got spring locked💀
How about Timmy Turner?
Pip,
not only Pip was hated by every character in South Park, but tons of people who were fans of the show also hate Pip. Even the writers of the show hated Pip,they made him his own episode and it was so bad that Pip rarely appeared in the show. There is a reason why they have to kill Pip.
I personally feel like Lisa Simpson is the punching bag of The Simpsons
Oh no! No! No! No! No!
También squidward solo empeora cada temporada
I'm excited for my 30th birthday in a few months, but l'm almost just as excited for next year, when l get to quote Hans Moleman: "Alcohol has ruined my life. I'M 31 YEARS OLD!"
What about robin from Teen Titans GO? He never gets respect.
There's nothing to do about this, Meg is the biggest punching back. One could argue Millhouse, Hank, Klaus all deserve what they get
As far as butt monkeys go Butters has to be #1. Very few characters have been through as much as him.
Edit: mecha streisand was season 14!? It seems like a hundred years ago. Holy crap that show has been on forever.
I think the first Mecha Streisand was in the first couple seasons though. This is either the return of Mecha Streisand or someone else entirely.
@kyles9937 Yes, you're right. Season 14 was the return.
x from the internet cartoon bfb goes through a lot of messed up stuff. which is sad because they're honestly adorable in my opinion.
I’d say Klaus, with Mega a close second. Meg has been given more respect slowly over the years, but Klaus feels like he’s being tortured more often.
Meg unfortunately deserves #1. This is because I literally forgot about her until she came up in the video. When seeing how many punching bags there were, I thought to myself, “huh, Family Guy doesn’t have one”.
All other Genres: _World tries to teach a Designated punching bag that, that's all they can ever be and must accept that fate but that person eventually finds their courage and conviction, rises up, suffers a few set backs but finally shows the world that they will not be a punching bag anymore, thus world learns a lesson and person finds their peace and happiness and success._
Audience: *Applause* _"So sad and so inspirationally moving... really felt for the person...Punching Bags are people with feelings too and deserve to be treated rightly... such a beautiful lesson"_
Comedy sitcoms: _Designated Punching Bags must exist & can never change their fate & their lives will be made even more miserable should they have the nerve to even dare try..._
Audience: _So freaking funny and too right... Get that punching Bag...Love seeing punching bags get exactly what they don't deserve… it's pure comedy gold...._
Meg for just those eps or pip for literally getting killed off because even the creators hated him
Moleman being 31 will always be one of the hilarious things.
Butters is my vote, I literally can’t watch what happens to him in “The Death of Eric Cartman”. (thanks for showing it btw haha)
I used to think it was Kenny but then soon realized I'd rather die every episode than be Meg.
Dr Zoidberg is far from a punching bag, he's a legend
My list of the biggest punching bags in animation is as follows:
1. Meg Griffin
2. Squidward Tentacles - The only character that has suffered even remotely enough torture as Meg and continues to be unreasonably miserable because of it; even for a kids show his torture is unnecessarily cruel and violent at times.
3. Klaus Heissler - Probably has suffered equal amounts of psychological torment to the point he's been driven insane and is desperate for the family that torments him and keeps him in his goldfish body to love him like one of their own; one episode in particular confirms this and cements his role as the show's unnecessarily tortured punching bag, but we can all agree it was a huge mistake
4. Hans Moleman - The Kenny of the Simpsons that never got redeemed and has forever remained a complete joke of a character over the show's entire 30+ years
Not to mention also being killed😂
