Hi Casha, the secret is oxygen. Most plants can handle "too much water". But they can't handle too little air. Just create a false floor under which the nutrient rich pond water and air are both dispersed evenly to come up thru the gravel or other ballast material (with NO soil or dirt) so that the plants have access to both water and oxygen that is moving gently thru their roots. Some sturdy material to give the plants the ability to stand (we just use 3/4" gravel) and nature will do the rest! Feel free to contact us directly for supplies and additional advise.
