For anyone that does not have the “delete app” button. Go into settings, screen time and then find “purchasing apps” it might be in the restrictions category if you have parental controls, then just hit “allow” for deleting apps! I hope this helped. Reply if it did not.

Go to Settings, click Screen Time, tap Purchasing Apps (or go to Content and Privacy Restrictions), change “don’t allow “in Deleting Apps to “allow”. Then go to Homescreen icon of the app you want to delete, it will now show an X, tap X to “delete” and confirm delete.

For some apps, it doesn't work. Say, you want to delete the App Store. That won't work, so it doesn't have an x. But, all apps that you've downloaded, will 100% be able to be deleted.

1- keep clicking on the iPad until it starts to dance
2-if you don’t see the X but you see delete app then click it
3- you don’t have the app and you did the job

Same for me as shockwave. No x appears when I tap the icon on my home screen. Only the - for hide app, share app, edit home screen. I am on a iPad Pro 2018. Every other app works fine except the Wisconsin State Journal app. They need techies to fix this or I will have to unsubscribe.
