Really enjoyed your series, have so many questions. If you could answer any of these I'd be super appreciative. I've only ever worked with a local contractor in Seoul once and it was really tricky (impossible) to get them to do what I exactly wanted. Why were they so against a west facing window? Did they fix a price for the job before starting? And if not, did it increase? I'd really like to know some ballpark figures for the costs of this as I'm looking to do something similar, but outside of Seoul? I'd also love to see an update video? Great work, I really love the property!
Hello. I found the contractor through a Hanok Professor, so that set up the context. The Hanok prof did the design and the main contractor listened to my big asks (good insulation). No window on the West wall to stop the deep late sun coming in and overheating the house. I kept only small window in the center. They were absolutely correct. We get deep sun on the east in winter to warm up, and overhead in summer so it stays cool. No A/C needed. Very little heating. They gave a quote before, and recommended +10% if anything weird happened. Our contractor never went over. This Hanok is in chuncheon, about 1 hour ITX from Seoul. If you are doing something near Gangwon I highly recommend our contractor. Great guy.
looking really great
