    The pedals didn’t destroy your shins when you slipped a pedal like the hutch or some of those sharp pedals did. I always liked the haro bikes paint and grafics. I worked at my uncle’s bike shop back then. We sold lots of GT.

      I had a '94 Haro Group 1 Si and those pedals would bite your leg off.

    Fully on board with the "dead school" terminology. I have the chrome '21 Ground Master and it rules. I wish that one came with those Fusion flatland pegs, though!

      I have the Zolatone Master as my daily rider! I love it! Yeah I think Deadschool fits the 89' to 94' era perfectly!

    I like the 'Dead School' moniker. When you watch the Props box set, you can see something shift in the mid-90s. The bikes changes, street riding take on a skateboarding influence and the grunge fashion is replaced by khakis and Fox t-shirts.

      I agree completely. It went from no money and no sponsors to the Midschool era being more lucrative than the mid 80's!

    I like the dead school Era term. My 91 DB Reactor and my 94 Robi Pro fall into that category. I'll keep the term going here on the east coast. It fits the era and it just sounds bad ass.

    I'd prefer the graphics on the rear of the seat post. That way, you can add a nice decal on the front of the fork to add to the colorway of the bike.

    Yeah I would say when the threadless system became standard is when "mid-school" started. I count anything from 75-95 to be old school and anything older is vintage/antique

    I am on-board with throwback bikes having better materials and geometry than their predecessors. But I am not sure about pivotal seats and half-link chains. What is wrong with a KMC 510 and a basic railed seat?

    • @SnakebiteBMX
      @SnakebiteBMX  9 месяцев назад +1

      Im sure it has a half link chain because this is a flat specific bike and a lot of riders are very specific about back end lengths. I have ran half links since they came out and there is nothing wrong with them if they are installed properly. I love a railed seat but that just really doesn't help a manufacturer who all ready has molds for pivotal seats waiting to be filled. Also a railed seat costs more and is heavier. On paper you want a bike as light as you can get for sales purposes. Easy switches though if you grab one of these. :)

    • @rgw1380rw
      @rgw1380rw 7 месяцев назад

      I liked the old school railed seat as well. With the pivotal, the seating angles aren't exactly how I like my seat.

    2 grand and they couldnt even put out chrome 48 rims? wow is right

    • @SnakebiteBMX
      @SnakebiteBMX  9 месяцев назад +1

      These actually don't have chrome rims due to restrictions on chroming worldwide. Every chrome rim I have seen in the last 3 years will end up flaking in about 3 to 6 months. Haro actually had chrome ones on a previous year and had to deal with nightmare of them all flaking. The chroming process now just isn't achievable on aluminum like it was 20 or more years ago without all the restrictions. Chrome on steel will still hold up but its still not as nice as 80's chrome.
      As for the price tag that is about spot on for a high end bike if you build it from scratch nowadays. If you add the parts up on this bike or something similar it will be in that ballpark.

    • @duanevh3790
      @duanevh3790 9 месяцев назад

      @@SnakebiteBMX thats good to know, have you heard how the chrome is holding up on the 2021 chrome lineage ground masters? I live in Canada and thats the only one my bike shop can get and for about $500 less than the new black one.

    • @SnakebiteBMX
      @SnakebiteBMX  9 месяцев назад

      @@duanevh3790 Id honestly be scared of most chrome on aluminum after the pandemic. No where will always be random parts that prove me wrong but the odds are stacked against ya.

      @@SnakebiteBMX not sure if I was clear, i meant the 2021 chrome groundmaster frame not rims, I thought since the frame & forks were 4130 chromoly not aluminum they might hold up better? unless you're saying the quality lately would be the same. thanks

  • @michaelbuddy

    "dead school" bro that's absolutely absurd. You are saying that the era when some of the most important innovative bike tricks were invented was when things should be called the "dead school era" based on parts changes. So you're saying dead school was during the heyday of Chase Gouin, Kevin Jones, Paul Osicka, Matt Hoffman, Dave Mirra, Jay Miron, Jesse Puente, Chad Degroot, Edgar Placencia, Trevor Meyer, Pete Brandt, Joe Rich, Scott Powell, Dave Freimuth, Krt Schmidt, Rooftop, Chad Johnton, Rick Molitierno, Nate Hanson, MIke Forney and Dennis McCoy Mongoose era? What are you even talking about? The only reason we call anything "new school" now is because we point to that era as insane progression. Bikes during the time of your alleged "dead school" era are Standard Shorty, Hoffman Big Daddy, Hoffman EP, Haro Megatube, Homeless, Holmes, Morales etc.
