It was art, soul and passion Just how many shoes were back in the day. Today's shows barely manage that in extreme single digit rare quantitaties :( - everything today is so fake and bullshity it's shocking to me, I'm no boomer yet but, many of them are just awful or mediocre (and I see that kind of mediocrity bad given how far we have come) Nothong feels believable anymore. Downtown felt real, felt like it was just telling stories how they actually happened.
i would never wish for a second season especially with how disappointing every single reboot has been, but i hope someday they do a comic or graphic novel for the show and continue where they left off. it really is a gem of show and i’m happy more people are starting to see this.

It truly captures the experience of living as a teenager or even as an adult in New York. Beyond that, the clever and sometimes satirical humor, combined with relatable characters, just brings everything together perfectly. Great video!!
Yeah imo revivals of 90s/old shows just dont work, it's either too long since or that it just doesnt live up to the hype. But still wish it had another season before it got canceled.
As someone who grew up in the UK, another thing that may go unnoticed is the use of jungle (breakbeats) in some episode music like in 13. It was very popular in the 90s/2000s especially in the UK and this makes the show a perfect time capsule of 1999. As someone who loves the music genre, it was on of the first things I noticed about the show and made me want to watch more
Loved everything about this show. Just something about growing up in the early 2000s that really makes me happy. Listening to Hybrid Theory, skateboarding and tagging with my friends while watching shows like Downtown, Daria, King of The Hill and Mission Hill after school was really something.
For those asking for a season 2, given how every IP gets ruined and injected with the dumpster fire of modern nonsense, it would absolutely suck, you wouldn't be able to capture the vibe, New York isn't like that any more, people aren't like that any more
I have absolutely NO idea how I missed this show when it originally aired! I was around the same age as the characters, still watched MTV, and was obsessed with the idea of living in the Village in NYC because of the musical RENT. So glad I finally discovered it. The dialogue is refreshing to listen to and it feels so “real” compared to a lot of scripted animation these days.
i think it's heartwarming to note that Goat is still honored even after his passing. In Motorcity, a production by Titmouse (Chris Prynoski's studio) and Disney, the protagonist is mentored by a man named Jacob, who resembles Goat's characters in appearance and spirit.

As a graff writer, the graffiti episode drew me in and just had to watch the whole series as the random situations and conversations the characters would find themselves in were just relatable in a way. Cool iceberg video
Another thing I'd add is that some fans say there are some known stars today who did some voice acting for the show when they were starting out but I only know Pedro Pascal being one where his character's the one talking to chaka at the party. That WAS Melody Henry!!! She is an NYC legend. Go visit her bar in Gowanus, it's the best goth/punk/metal bar on the East Coast!!!
