- This is a #Howto video on building a #DIY floating seat for a Bay window. At the end of the video, you can find the total build cost of this project and I have included product links below.
We converted a dark, non-functional bay window area into a bright & inviting seating nook. It has become our favorite spot in the whole house. Built a floating seat using 2x4s, added upholstered seat & cushions replaced vertical blinds with IKEA Roller blinds - SANVEDEL and refinished walls & ceiling with Behr paint.

I enjoyed the is video because your bay window is very similar to mine and I need to build seating also. I was going to do seating with storage but this floating seat looks great! Did you add a support piece for the floating seat or was that area painted black?
Glad you enjoyed the build! there are no additional supports under the seat. Its just black paint there.
Hi, from where did you get the 3 yard fabric? Love the pattern and I think it goes well with our wall paint.
I love it too..Its got subtle geometric patterns. I bought it from our local fabric store 'Joann'. I couldn't find the online link for you..
Very informative and just what I was looking for. 3 inch cushion vs 4 inch. Is there a huge difference?
@vamshi k , I think, thicker the cushions are, it will be more comfortable to sit on it and looks wise it will be better too..
