    Definitely playing this. Thanks!

    Excellent. I certainly did not know much about the hane at R17, as at first my AI was preferring Q17.
    Getting the benefit of pro research into these new patterns is very helpful! :))

    Hmm, looking with the AI Leela Z suggests at 7:27 that black should cut P13 rather than P17 (58% for black). 58% looks too high on continuations (if white just force wins the ko it looks more like 52% for black), but I couldn't find a variation that was marked good for white after that. The problem seems to be that ko can often end up with 3 or even four moves in a row for black, or W risks losing it. (60k playouts, but Leela sometimes fails to look into a key line).
    Leela prefers move 8 at 13 (at 7:27).
    Have you checked out this AI line? My Leela is a bit old, is it missing something? Does Katago have something better?

      After Black's cut at P13, White O14, Black P12, if you feed it the White move at N12, maybe Leela will change it's mind.
      I expect Leela was working with a White push at N14 instead, which would allow Black a squeeze on the right and seems to match the 58% score.

      @@MichaelRedmondsGoTV Thanks for the reply! Yes, N12 is a very nice move! I am already getting around 50% drilling down the lines, but there are many complications. I think I need a more up-to-date AI and a hardware upgrade!! Anyway, for humans it is "roughly even" I guess, and an interesting game!

    Thank you Mr Redmond for this very detailed explanation! I do not know if it is RUclips doing it, or you, but the sound is not very good. It sounds like you are talking through a pipe. That normally happens when high compressions is applied to an audio file...

    What happens if black has the ladder?

  • @Vonsen
    @Vonsen 3 года назад +1

    Your recommendation of the hanging connection for black is still under the assumption that the ladder favours white, right? Is it correct to assume that, if the ladder favours black, then black should always cut? Or would white not even play R17 if the ladder favoured black?

      Yes, that's correct and White would play Q17 leading to a different joseki.

    Thank you for these videos. If I may provide constructive feedback, on RUclips, it will start showing overlays over the video (suggested videos, links to Patreon, etc.) about 20 seconds before the video ends. This covers the last bits of your video content. Maybe it would be better if you add a 20 second clip at the end of the videos with a simple background or animation, so that the overlays can appear there instead?
