- Fields of Mistria just released in early access and there are just some things that I would’ve wanted to know before starting my gameplay that would’ve saved me some headaches in playing the game.
In this video, we’ll not only go through what you can avoid but also dive deeper on how you can make the most of your early gameplay as a beginner.

Its also good to know that there's no consequence to getting to 0 in stamina, so eating 1 berry at a time while fishing grants you 1 fish over and over! I do this all the time and save myself the cooking early game. Its also just a general strat because fishing takes a lot of stamina. Now, in theory, it only takes 1. :)
Yeah... fishing takes a lot of stamina and, I'm not sure, I think it needs about 3-4 berries since the berries only recover 1 stamina. 🤔 But, I guess, you just need to fish where there are berries or just save a day for foraging berries before you fish. 😅

also at 3:16 you can disable the lantern's electricity by jump attacking instead of just waiting, it saves time since there are only so many hours in the day.

1st one I had no clue about it and it's not even mentioned in the controls I think or is it and I just never saw it? That's a relief!
The stone enemy, I couldn't figure out the pattern there so that helps! It never occurred to me to volley back those stones it shoots at you.
One thing I recently figured out was I had to buy both male and female animals to breed (I thought the little incubator in my Coop could be used to hatch an egg similar to SDV, but I think it's for the egg when you breed your 2 chickens). Now I am having fun figuring out how to breed my chickens.

The chickens did confuse me a bit since you already have an egg 😅 but I do miss the male and female cows back in the early Harvest Moon days, so there's this nostalgia factor as well.
@@ThalryGames I am a dummy, I forgot that when you buy your chickens, there's something there you buy to help your chickens breed once you get them to 2 hearts lol.
@@Zodia195 It has almost the same mechanic with that of ova magica, only for me to keep forgetting about that 2 hearts requirement. 😅 I guess getting to the next generation colors won't be as easy as I thought.
I think a good way to remember to check Balor's cart is to think of it as the Travelling Cart from Stardew Valley, but it's there everyday.

I feel like shovel will be updated somehow for digging artifacts and mounds.
What do you have in mind? The shovel can already be used for digging and it will be quite sad if the features would be removed from pickaxe. If you're familiar with Stardew, I assumed you can shovel up some soil in the mines like you can in Stardew iirc (I could be remembering a different game 😅)

Sorry, I meant to say since Pickaxe is digging up mounds, if they update it. Maybe shovel will gain that mechanic instead, like Legend of Zelda. That's
usually how it goes in Early Access or newly released games.
@@sainttan No worries, but yeah there's a tendency to have significant changes from early access.
An interesting tip I found is that there's a move with your sword(forgot what's it's called, you look like you're using the sword as a pogo stick to attack multiple enemies in one jump) that's very useful for removing dead plants in your field

@@ThalryGames Was watching another video & ended up remembering the attack's name(haven't been able to play much due to projects I'm working on), it's called the jump attack & works on grass & like I said dead crops besides what it's actually for

for small inventory space, items will stay around for awhile so you can just leave it on the ground and come back!
This! I was so happy when I found out, I've been dropping my watering can in my fields. 😅
Oh, and in case people reading this aren't aware, the items will retain even when seasons change at least in the current version of early access.
I believe I did get my fishing rod for free. One day I went to check out the fishing lady at the beach. When I went inside her cabin shop, it was sitting there in the middle of the floor. I don't know if I completed a quest or request first. This was 2/3 into the spring.
I didn't experience that in any of my playthroughs even though I made sure to do all the quests 😅 but that's good to know! Thanks. 🙂

You can actually use the pickle axe as well to dig up
If you meant the pickaxe, yeah... that's why I regretted getting the shovel too early 🥲
Your tip about 'using' new items should actually be one about reading item descriptions LMAO. The item tells you how to use it! Just read the description!

I’d recommend turning the volume up and not looking at the screen. And then click the second you hear the splash. For me it’s better this way as I tend to psych myself out whenever I see the fish get close to me lol

Try what SassyGhost mentioned and let us know if it worked. Aside from that, try reeling it 1-2 seconds after the '!' pops up. I don't have the best reflex, so I'm usually slow in these things but I still manage to reel it in. Good luck!
I find pressing the reel button as soon as you see the exclamation works. not tapping though, press the button down firmly. also the fish size vs ur fishing level may also contribute to how high the successful rate is. At low rank , start with fishing near the town instead of fishing at the beach.
Anyone know what button it is to transfer duplicate items on controller?
I'm sorry, my Steam Deck is being repaired atm so I can't test it on my end and tried searching it on Google to no avail. 😔 It might be best to reach out on Steam or Discord (not sure if there is one).
There isn't a specifc button. Its the same button that you use to interact. X for PS, A for Xbox ect ect. I've played exclusively on controller(dualsense) and I've never needed to manually move any item to a chest. X will transfer whatever I am hovering over to the chest, new or already existing in the chest.

Hi! It's at 1:06 you hold the shift button as you click the item.
clicking shift just closes the chest for me?😓
Hi! Remember to hold down the shift key as you click on the item you want to transfer. If it still doesn't work, it might be a bug that you can report to the devs.

you can also use the sword jump attack to clear grass really fast

@@ThalryGames it’s definitely not necessary but it is significantly faster at collecting foragables then normal
@@ThalryGames I found the jump attack really useful in the mines too, if you have more than 1 monster close to you, or also I was turning my back then jump attacking the mushrooms. You can chain a few attacks together to beat them
