Kagori took a deep breath outside the briefing room, then entered with no small amount of trepidation, "So I have a new battle plan..." He announced, stepping inside.
The Krieg officer was standing over a table that displayed the current arrangement of forces in the theater. It was difficult for him to keep the contempt from seeping into his words, "Let me guess it's another one of vour 'innovative' plans with minimum casualties, yah?"
Kagori didn't pick up on it, "Well, yes." He inwardly sighed. Time to bite the bullet, "But actually... no. You see I'm planning to widen the front... and I want it to widen into the most lethal direction we can go... Down."
The Krieg Officer turned to face Kagori, "Voh?"
Kagori nodded gravely, "So, 'innovative'... yes. But sadly, tunnel fighting is brutal. Death is sudden and without warning." He looked at the officer trying to gauge his reaction. He continued cagily "Could be tough."
The Krieg officer straightened his back standing at full attention, "Sir, vou had my curiosity. But now? Vou have my erection!"
Kagori furrowed his brow in confusion, "Err... Don't you mean... attention?"
The Krieg officer narrowed his eyes at Kagori as he replied, "Don't ruin this for me."

What if everything was spider?
A pile of spiders in the shape of a giant spider knocks on your door made of spiders. It is wearing a hat of spiders that looks like a spider. You, a spider, open the door, of spiders. Your guest tips his spider then explodes into spiders that disappear into the ground, also made of spiders. You weep baby spiders from oh-so-many eyes.

He was already a Deadman at that point, Vraks imo is a perfect example as too why the inquisition is the way they are. Cant take chances with dudes like the cardinal.
The imperium sometimes are more like Orks than they think. In the book deathworlders the Catachan fighters talked about the stupidity of their deployment on planet Rogar 3. Rogar 3 was a potential agriworld but now it's a deadworld with the planet becoming increasingly intelligent and hostile, sending more powerful, more resilient and smarter lifeforms after them. The Imperium could have simply packed up and left but they refused to do so because there are Orks on the planet. And the Orks only came here because there are humans to fight, if the imperium leave, they too would leave the planet because there is nothing interesting to them there besides the humans. So both sides are locked in a perpetual conflict, the imperium because their propaganda stubbornly holds on to their pride and the Orks because they love to fight, all while the planet is becoming more hostile to both sides. The Catachan fighters hate it here because while Rogar 3 is a jungle world, it's actively hostile towards them unlike their home planet which they consider neutral.

Arch you are my favorite war hammer lore channel. I have very fond memories of watching your entire siege of Vraks lore and i look forward to watching it again.
I think a big part of the "error" is the simple fact that most of the audience has no idea how many people are in a "regiment". The knowledge of logistics is just not there.
Top of my head. An IG Infantry regiment is 10K troops. irony is, Vraks if one of the very few times when the numbers to take a single planet are even remotely realistic.
Some of 40Ks numbers are a lot less than than some offensives in WWII. FFS, Britain, not including the Commonwealth forces had three million under arms by the end of the war. Logistics and troop numbers are massive failings in nearly every Sc-Fi setting. I would love to see GW try to explain where all the ships and logistics came from for the Great Crusade. Mechanicum just happened to have a multi trillion ton stash of refined Adamantium lying around on Mars, did they. This little cut off system, that has only just realised the Warp storms have calmed enough to move outside the system. I have some military logistics experience. The stuff a single soldier needs in mind boggling, never mind ships and vehicles. Buttons to bootlaces to toothbrushes to rank insignia. Everything needs to be factored.
Yes, sci-fi has problems with how big wars are. But actually Vraks is weirdly over-populated given the area that's actually being fought over. It is NOT a planetary campaign, it is a siege of a single city, not even a hive city.
It's definitely smaller than the area being fought over at Kursk (which had about 1mil men on each side). So when Vraks says that this war will see like 10mil men committed on each side to a single theater that is maybe the size of Verdun, that is almost laughable.
And that is kinda the point, of curse. It's super grim dark. But the logistics here is nothing like reality.
The first Gaunt's Ghosts book has a pretty reasonable look at a WW1 conflict - The enemy have a maglev train system delivering shells from magazines to their big guns, built through a mountain range.
But at Vraks we are asked to believe that this one city has enough deep storage to have the heavy guns keep firing for a decade. In WW1, we saw each major offensive preceded by MILLIONS of shells being fired. Vraks apparently just has enough to supply that and more for more than twice as long with no production whatsoever. That's nuts. Literally insane.
Aside from anything else, would you think collecting tens of millions of TONNES of explosives together in one place is a sensible idea?

I have had this idea swimming in my head for a while now. The idea is you have a 40k book series that hides the fact its set in 40k for a big dramatic reveal at the end of the first book.
You have some feudal world where the population doesmt quite grasp the concept of space travel and the wider Imperium. The planetary govenor is seen as a massive tyrant and is unpopular. Then a big famine strikes the planet and the Govenor still taxes the populations food and so the population overthrows the govenor, but surprise surprise the reason the govenor was so tyranical waa due to an administratum error increases the planets tithe and he was trying and failing to fix the issue. So when the revolt ends thats when the imperium starts knocking asking where the fuck is its tithe in the form of food.
Still remember going through the first version at work or something so glad we got a refresh keep up the good work!
The first series Arch did on Vraks was bananas, it was well over a day long in run time

Meanwhile as this is happening GW said its going to release a novelization. Oh arch can't catch a break. Arch will probably make a EX video for just extra info that the books add or just take down the videos and just shoe horn in a tid bit or two.

@@angry_zergling I believe that was mentioned before the GW sky fell on him a few years ago. So I doubt it will happen now. A huge undertaking just for some GW legal drone to start machinegunning the Cease and Desist and Copyright letters about again.
He did mention in a live stream a couple weeks back is in the works but not soon.
@@Yandarval He had spoken about it afterwards - he initially said GW wasn't worth his time in making a big Sabbat Worlds Crusade series, but then later made a video saying his viewers convinced him that he was making these videos for us, the fans, and not GW.

it's ok to repost old videos. So much work went into them it would be sad to see them disappear. I love the Vracks series. I watched them all at work at night.

You know, it sounds terrible for a commander to be far away from the frontline while the men in the trenches suffer, but something of an astonishing thing I've heard is that it's a phenomenon in the US Army for fresh-faced new commanders to actually set themselves up way too close to the frontline, in a bit of a misguided effort to prove themselves, while more experienced commanders take a bit of a backseat and still handle their soldiers well. Even as much as the US Army focuses on NCOs and units having their own individual initiative, having your commander shot dead at the front is a horrible thing that can kill more soldiers than the morale boost of a commander in the trenches with you is worth.

Interesting that you're redoing this series now, I heard that they are making a new book on the Siege of Vraks, wonder how it's gonna change it, still I do appreciate this series.
Also if you maybe want to make these animated videos easier on you, I recently watched some vids "What if Star Wars Was Awesome" on a channel called PRISM and the way he did that was make AI images of each scene/character which helped you get more into the scene, idk if that would work with this series, or if it would even be faster as I am not an AI artist myself, just a thought you may (or may not) wanna check out.
