Some people are willing to help if they see you are willing to learn. I have had to learn about a lot of things, and often do it better than many "professionals".
Yes! Almost 30 years ago we learned, especially in regards to skilled trades, it’s more about the equipment than the knowledge. The information is easily accessible but the tools can be expensive. There’s usually a way to do something without the expensive tools-you just have to be prepared for it to take longer. (And most of the time you’ll be happier with the end result!)
My homeschooled son briefly returned to public school. He got straight A's and was bored out of his mind. He was so far ahead of all his classmates. He asked to return to homeschooling. He's now an apprentice, on the job training, welder.
I saw him on a RUclips recently and he is not optimistic. He said the people who contacted him were RFK people. The people in charge of USDA are not RFK. The recent pick for head of USDA is not one of Joel’s choices. Pencil pusher with a degree has been nominated. Not aware of name of people Joel wanted. Guess we need to find those names and make some phone calls.
Grandfather finished eighth grade, joined the navy, and fought in WW2. He was a trained engineer and went on to become a Chief Warrant Officer who helped develop the first nuclear carrier in the Navy. He never had any formal schooling outside of the navy.
My dad was similar but did not build a nuclear carrier. He was however a senior engineer in his company. He also was part of getting the first offshore oil rig in the North Sea up and going.
I rarely post on yt but this got me thinking. I am 62 years old, a woman if that makes any difference, and I approve this message. I was canning hams and blanching cauliflower as I listened to your message. Thought about school, and what did I retain from it? It came down to this, nice handwriting, and memorizing the multiplication tables. Every single thing I have learned since I taught myself. First through reading books I checked out of a library, and now mostly online. My mother passed on her love of reading to her children, and took the time to take us to the library. She once told me that if you can read, you can learn anything. She let us take any book we wanted, she didn't 'manage' that. Two weeks later, the stacks went back and we repeated the process! We had limited tv, no screens to distract us, lots of chores (ten children in the family) so books and learning were a wonderful time. I hated school, I found it boring, redundant, and felt surrounded by things I didn't want to be involved with. I taught my 4 children the same lesson, and all have turned out pretty well. I spend lot's of time with my 10 grandchildren and even though they are late teens now, they love coming here because they are immediately involved with whatever I am currently doing. I chat with them, but they are busy with whatever we are doing whether an experiment in storing potatoes outside using hills, or making sourdough, or learning how to make pie crusts with butter and lard. Yesterday's time with them was teaching a 15 year old to drive, then returning home and showing them how to melt the ice caked up on the stairs with salt. Another was taken to fabric store to help pick out items to make a wedding headdress for her soon- to- be new aunt. She told me she has been studying RUclips videos in order to know what to do. My husband has always told our kids when they were embarking on something new, or scary, to "raise your hand and participate". My oldest said that that message has rolled through her mind hundreds of times through her years, and let's just say this, she holds beating hearts in her hands when she goes to work. God bless you for sharing your family and homestead with us, along with a strong dose of common sense.
I'm not licensed/certified anything but I worked in several skilled trades for 30+ yrs. I plumbed, wired and finished out my house, by myself. Been living here 7+ years and it's all still fine. I always said "RUclips and you too can do it". BTW, women, that means you too... I'm a 67 yr old single Grandma.
well i agree 90 percent with you. tho sum things theres a reason why sum certs exist. like pressure vesal weld certs. doesn't mean that will always be good. but it does help weed out crapy welders for the most part. but in a house yah with a little learning 95 percent of iteams in house a home owner should be able to fix.
Absolutely true. Hubby just replaced our 23 year old furnace following a RUclips video. Now he's wiring his garage for heat. Like... right now. 😂 Sincerely, Garage Widow.
Same . Do all my own home repairs and building when I want something like another woodshed , coop , or goat shed . Hung drywall as a young woman ( for two years - nasty hard work ) .
You're awesome❤ I home that I'm still able to do this stuff when I'm 67 years old. I've been teaching my daughter to do this stuff too. Her friends used to make fun of her because her Mom(me) didn't have nails and hair done and I was always in work clothes. Now she wants to be like me. I'll take it. What other sentiment from a kid could mean as much?
I'm a single mom homesteader and I don't have a lot of money, so we've done nearly all the work ourselves. My teenage sons rolled up their sleeves and installed a propane range and propane heater in my kitchen last week. I'm cooking dinner on it right now. They threaded pipes and everything. I'm so proud of them and we aren't dead. Lol. We homeschool too and guess what you can teach yourself to do just about everything. And my son's are becoming men through this project.
My husband installed our solar. He learned it from tutorials. Spent a year learning. As I enhance holistic healing. We are off grid as well. It’s work but worth it folks. This helps stretch our “learning curve” and keeps one teachable.
State and federal dictate the whole curriculum my friend. Teachers are there to implement. If they stray from that, they lose their license. Same with medical doctors. Same with veterinarians. I remember watching nurses cry and moan when they were forced to get the jab after seeing what it actually did to the people they were jabbing. The whole system is sickening.
@ShenTree when I was in college, teachers we not looked at as being very smart; a few exceptions, You should go read Dumbing Us Down by John Taylor Gatto.
I've been doing that myself. I just made new batches of cayenne pepper salve, oregano oil salve, chamomile/lemon balm salve and comfrey/calendula salve. They have so many beautiful uses and my family doesn't have the ugly side effects that some medicine cause.
I had a gas generator that sounded wrong and then quit working. I went online and watched some videos on taking apart the carburetor cleaning all the little parts. I put it back together hoping it would work. IT DID!!! I learned a lot about gas generators online. I now have a propane generator. I'm female, in my 50's, with no help from anyone. YOU can learn anything if you want to!!! I have learned how to build things, how to grow things. Thanks for your channel.
Isn't it funny Amy, I feel the same way about sewing, embroidery, quilting, canning, gardening, and herbs. But I don't think I need to worry about plumbing, electrical and engines.
Kind of like a prophet is without honor in his hometown. No one wants to believe someone they know, but they will believe someone they don't know who is from far away, because they hold themselves out as an expert.
And a good teacher, can never take the place of a good parent ! But a great teacher, can make a huge difference in a child who has no parents ! Does that mean that we do away with parents ? What kind of crazy thinking would that be...
I will say, since I don't know anything about electrical work right now, I would probably be on that 10% if I went messing around with it. But I'm at least smart enough to know that I don't have that knowledge so, until I do, I won't mess with it. Lately I've been more obsessed with preserving foods so maybe that's next on my list.
@@steevs7912my advice, get trained by someone who does. I was an electrical apprentice back in 07 and 08 when the market crashed. I learned a lot. But there's a lot to still be learned. Underground work, rough in (construction before live wire is involved, and minor "trim" work not a problem. A service change or messing with 220 or 440. Not so much.
@@DanlowMusic I'm actually going to be asking my grandpa a few things when he has the time. He and my dad did most of it in the house we are in now. I've been meaning to have him help with a few things but I've been doing so much I haven't had the time, plus with work. That'll motivate me to do it sooner rather than later though. Thanks
What's hilarious about that teacher being upset is the fact that New Jersey, Arizona, Oklahoma, Commiefornia, Mississippi, New York, Virginia, and Illinois have all LOWERED their teacher certification standards, in some cases quite substantially, to try to make up for the shortfall in "qualified" teachers. So if you can't find qualified teachers, lower the bar. Who suffers? The kids of course
Why the shortage? Because who is investing in a college degree or multiples and then babysitting kids. So they lower their teaching standards and the new teachers start sharing pronouns and saying a rainbow pledge. 🏳️🌈🌈🏳️🌈
I have done all kinds of stuff in my life. I took 4 years of Agri and homemaking in high school. I was in Civil Air Patrol. I learned to fly a plane for free. I have done the EMT classes for free because I have been a volunteer firefighter for 20 years. I went to nursing school for free on a grant. I learned about large animal husbandry by working on my Aunt's ranch during summers. I worked for five years as a seamstress for AAlfs manufacturing jean factory. I can sew. Many times there is a way to get training for free.
I'm a professional electrician. Spot on about the NEC. I sometimes think changes happen because either someone wants to make more money, AFCI breakers and tamper resistant outlets, or someone felt the need to be relevant. BTW, my interest here is to learn and share with others.
The NFPA is dirty. It's always being corrected and revised to fix a plain mistake or a safety. A couple years ago some schmuck convinced them to authorize the placement of 20 amp sockets on the end of a 15 amp run, the edit appeared on the same page outlining how many 15s and 20s you could have on 14-2 and 12-2. It's all crap, and basics should be taught in high school.
@@PBVader while 20 amp receptacles should never be on a 15 amp circuit, there is nothing actually in the NEC limiting how many can be installed. That all depends on the load. I always lean toward over wiring simply because looking back I see how inadequate things that were sufficient in 1960 won't handle today's demands. We as a society are fond of our gadgets. I work in a college town. I've been asked by the inspectors why I don't use 14 gauge wire except for the smoke alarms. Reason is college kids have lots of stuff. For people who are homesteading I would advise them to read the code and gather information on line, then build what they need and not skimp. The blunders that will matter are simple things like a kinked wire that creates a hot spot. Saw a barn catch fire because of that. Wire exposed to the weather. Romax isn't made for outdoors. Last, the size of the wire.
I agree totally.Let me see.what did I learn from RUclips?everything!canning, chickens, fruit trees and gardening, medical plants, tinctures, ferments, car repair, plumbing and electrical, solar and on and on!! I learn something every day being debt free.
My aunt said they had a Delco system for electricity. They only had lights and radio. Her childhood memories were so precious! Sure miss her. She was 95 when she passed.
I became a nurse at a trade school. Cost my books, uniforms, and about 300$. I was employable day one after passing the NCLEX. 1985. Made good money at a hard job. It was well worth it
I was going in the late 80s also to be an RN Local jr college Then I got preggers again I get very sick when preggers and don’t leave my babies at all till they’re around a yr. Then I dont them consistently till 3ish. So college was out for awhile. Then my husband died stupid young. I was out of it for several yrs. Just a horror show for my life. Oh well, never was an RN lol
@YeshuaKingMessiah sorry to hear that. I never got to be an RN. LPN but worked hard and was usually in a supervisor position. You missed plenty of heart ache also. Dying people all the time. Had to take off at times just to get my bearings straight. GOD spared you is the way I see it. May have been a blessing.

My very intelligent father wanted to become a civil engineer. He bought the curriculum suggested by engineers, studied, was mentored at the civil engineering staff where he worked as a draftsman, passed the state exam and became a professional engineer. It was the early 1960s.
I agree with you, the only thing holding people back is their own doubts and insecurities. You can do anything you want to do if you are willing to do the work.
Being my own healer with Jesus as my guide is actually saving my life. Getting all the medical bs out of my system has been difficult but I'm doing it. Great subject, thank you

Our family is the perfect example of college is a waste of money. My dad graduated HS at 17 and joined the Air Force, 20 years in then different jobs were he worked his way up to vice president of a large company, retired early at 62 and has more money retired than most people I know. My husband dropped out of HS worked is ass off learning skills and now makes 75k a year. I graduated HS bounced around awhile then took a job and worked my way up to one of the highest paying position at the company. We have several college educated people in my extended family (cousins, aunts, etc) who can't get a job OR have jobs that have nothing to do with their degree! Learn skills, work hard and you'll go as far as you want. Side note, now I stay home raising and homeschooling my son.
Back in the 70's before the internet, I subscribed to time life books and used them to teach myself all about wiring, plumbing, etc. I built an addition on my house 30 years ago all by myself and it was better made than the original house. We also home schooled our kids back in the day because the teachers my kids had to be blunt were stupid. I knew people in the 70's at the university who flunked out of every school but were able to get an education degree.
I love books and learn so much about selfcare. After a recent visit to the ER, I was shocked at how many people don't know how to treat themselves for anything. The reason why people have to wait for hours to be seen in the ER is because people who have a small slice on their finger or have stubbed their toe are running to the ER. It was ridiculous.
They don't care about your safety, they are concerned with losing a buck. Those same folk will tell you not to do something, but if you pay them 3 times what they are worth, they'll take care of it😂. Did I mention that you'll end up paying a handyman of some sort to fix what they "accomplished "? 🤣🤣
I don't know about all industries, but in mine, the degree is just proof that you have the ability to learn. When you start the job, we assume you know nothing and are a ready sponge to begin real learning via on the job training
It's all about control and money, nothing else. It's certainly not about them caring about children beyond being able to turn them into NPC drones who will be obedient to them.

When my neice comes down i set up stuff to teach her. We finished off tinctures, etc. She was off in the guest room reading medical books and these two books i have printed in color. We asked her to come back out and hlshe yelled, "im studying".😂😂
If you go to a state-funded trade school in the same school district that you graduated high school in it is FREE. And often comes with testing and licensing so you can actually get a job in said field after graduation. They key word is STATE FUNDED. State funded trade schools get funding based on what percentage of their graduates end up with a job in which they were trained for at that school. So the state funded school has a vested interest in getting you a job. PRIVATE trade schools have no such interest, you pay them out of your pocket, wether or not you get a job in the field you were trained in. And for adults there are pell grants. It can be from almost free to getting stipends to go to school. WAY BETTER THAN COLLEGE WHEN IT COMES TO THE BANG FOR THE BUCK.
We can learn more hands on by experiencing things along with history more than sitting in a classroom listening to someone who has a so called degree. All the books in the world can give information, but experience is hands on that gives an education. I would rather listen to the elders instead of sitting in a classroom listening to someone who has not experienced life.
So much truth here! One thing I don’t see in the Word is where God calls this a planet. He named all the stars and constellations, which we still use today. Hmm… But that planet debate will go on until Yeshuah comes back and sets HIS record straight. Praise Yah- keep on the Narrow path, brother!
My husband’s father had his journeyman’s license as an electrician, he was working on rewiring a store when another person on his crew flipped on the breaker without making sure whether anyone was working. Unalived my father-in-law instantly. We also have a close family friend who was unalived by a person texting and driving. Neither things has stopped my husband and I from working on our home (contractors are expensive and, we’re quick learners. Everything is to 2015 IRC standards) or driving a vehicle.
Been a certified electrician since 93, went to VoTec for electrical construction and engineering... Very little of what we were taught even remotely would assist someone in the installation of a solar set up in any fashion. And yes, now-a-days everything I got out of Tech school could be achieved in less than 3 months of hardcore youtubing. Schools have gone to pot and in general are a total waste of money and time.
My daughter is a teacher... and I have a son with a congnative functioning of 4 to 6 years old (he's 28). She does have good insights with regard to expectations and techniques she's learned to deflect and distract and end bad habbits. But, she says she'll be homeschooling her children for safety purposes. Children uptake the bad habits of their peers. If they see tantrums working for one child (and teachers are very limited with regard to discipline) they're going to attempt to get that tactic to work for them. The more exposure they get to outside influence the more challenges a parent faces at home. She's told me that she learned more from me than she ever learned in a classroom.
My husband is fully-qualified to be an electrician through experience alone. His grandfather was a power linesman so he started out by being his poppy's circuit tester as a young child - and yes, I mean sticking a fork in the outlet or touching a wire to see if it's live because his grandpa could no longer feel ordinary 120v 😂 He never actually became an electrician, never got licensed, but because he knows so much he knows when a "professional" is doing something wrong on his work sites (he's a foreman for a commercial construction company). A lot of things that I have learned and become proficient at I taught myself. Like, my sewing lesson involved my mother throwing the machine's manual at me when I needed a costume made and said, "you can do it yourself now!" It didn't take me long to become just as good of a seamstress as my mother, who actually took classes in design etc. School is definitely over-rated - there are many ways to acquire good education, and even get paid while learning! Want to become a carpenter? Start by getting a job as a labourer and when there's nothing to sweep, teach yourself how to read the plans and watch what the other workers are doing.
I have a friend who never went to college yet does high end IT work for banks. He just was that good, he IS a genius. He taught himself and got the certifications as needed to move up in his field. Hes made beaucoup bucks for 30 yrs now.
If you are setting up or working on a solar system, and researching on line, here are a few suggestions for what to look for. Learn the difference between 36 volt systems and 12 or 24 volt systems. The higher voltages will definitely shorten your life if there is an accident. The lower voltage needs thick costly wiring. so there is a middle ground. Learn what to hook up first. Try a place like the alt-e store that designs stuff for home-owner installation. Learn about common electrician stuff like gloves, non-conductive footwear, and fiberglass ladders. Learn why and how to isolate your system from the grid using factory made components. You may find that small dedicated systems are easier to work on. For example, a solar and battery system in the well house just to run your well pump. A totally separate system to keep the refrigerator and freezer running. Wood or gas cookstove. Two independent lighting systems- one (grid) 110 volt and one solar-battery. One thing that is really important is to isolate solar (or generator) systems from grid tied. Go the extra mile here and get with your electric company, an electrician, your solar electronics supplier, your county electrical inspector. This part may be a big hassle, but if it saves the life of a lineman, (or yourself) its worth it.
@@YeshuaKingMessiah Yes in Washington state and I think Oregon too. You need a J.D. degree and work with a Lawyer who is a member of the bar for an amount of time.
My child is about to graduate high school. Completely home schooled from the start. Never stepped foot in a “real” school. Their average is 4.0 through an accredited school. Boom!🎤drop
Good for Eric, lol!!! Great response!! Teachers now bring not only their education, or lack thereof, but also feel free to bring their biases!! No, thank you! My homeschooling got interrupted, but so glad for that time, effort and sacrifice! God bless you, thank you. (Helping my granddaughter with her algebra is rewarding!)
If these teachers go through years of training and state certification, then why are they so horrible at their jobs? Why is our educational system in the gutter? How is it that a layman can pick up some books and do their job better than they can? P.S. - Not just "evangelicals" are sick of the system. And the subject she decided to bring up in that comment has zero to do with education and proves the point that they are useless. Learning history doesn't mean all your days and months of learning should be spent examining one tiny portion of history. Coincidentally, these kids learn nothing about the Bolshevik revolution in public school. Which had a toll higher than 15 million.
My wife and I are building a homestead utilizing the information we've learned online and from books. There is no excuse for ignorance now, as you said, everything is available online.
A message for her: and all women in judiciary- You live in a fantasy world, Disney princess Get a job, were sick of seeing you not adding to the capitalism game
What I do understand is you have certified say electrician that has to be then inspected to make sure they did it right but that inspector will not inspect homeowners work because they are not certified. You are the inspector if the work is done proper then it is good to go.
When I was a little boy in the early 1970s (anyone remember the summer of 1976 the Bicentennial July celebrations? Our entire town was at the city park, it was like a carnival) you used to hear the saying, "It's a free country!" all the time when people disagreed on something. Not anymore...
I was a professional firefighter and emt. You should never try to help an injured person or fight a fire of any kind without all the training and all the safety gear. You should definitely sit on your ass and wait for help from a credentialed person or organization. It is faaaaarrr too dangerous to help someone even if it’s yourself.
I am a self-taught wood worker. I also learn a lot off of certain woodworking channels. I am a 58-year-old grandmother and people are shocked that I build cabinets. My husband is always correcting people when they assume it is his woodshop. I don't care either way, but he feels people need to know.
More often than not in the case of teachers, professionals turn out a product inferior to the product a homeschooler mom can and does produce. The test scores back this up in spades
When i first came to our land from the suburbs i went to the library to learn about gardening, poultry and goats, no internet until later years. Back then the info on goats mostly came from Europe and they were mostly raised indoors. I also bought books about them and raising and processing meat. For more than 30 years I raised most of our food. Pigs and cows are gone now. When you really want to do something you will find a way.
AI Overview "In the USA, significantly more people are killed in car accidents than by electrocution each year; according to recent data, there are around 42,000 car accident fatalities annually, while electrocution deaths number in the hundreds, with estimates ranging from 500 to 1,000 per year"
I have been an electrician for 30 years, a contractor for almost 20. I had some "higher" education before I got into the electrical field. I have had only ONE class regarding electrical, and I only took it because my apprentices at the time asked me if I thought the classes were worth while. I have learned everything on my own without an instructor. I have done design build projects for decades, that means I am the engineer of record. A piece of paper on a wall does not mean you can in fact do what it might imply that you can, and not having a piece paper doesnt mean you cant do something you can do. I will always help and guide someone to do the work themselves if they want to, I will tell them what the code is, and I will tell them the principles involved in what they are doing. They can make their decision about what they want to do. I have been working in a home that has still functioning knob and tube wiring, most wont know what that is, but it is from the 1880s to the 1940s, it would not meet code today, but it still exists in thousands of homes, and is still doing its job. 95% of homes in the US ARE NOT UP TO CURRENT ELECTRICAL CODE!!!!! because they make changes and additions every 3 years. The NEC code IS NOT A GOVERNMENT CREATION, it is created by a trade organization NFPA (chapter 70) and different governments addopt it as their standard if they want. But I still do believe it should be forced on individuals, ,,, businesses ? yah sure, but private individuals should be free to make choices. These people now think the only way to know anything is to go to school, and the only people that should do anything are the ones who paid for the privilege to have a piece of paper. If you can do it, then do it, if you dont want to learn or just dont want to do it, then have someone do it. But liberty means you have the right to determine that yourself. Regulation is the thing that destroys common sense, liberty and freedom. I believe this lady should be able to live in a world where it works the way she wants, and I think we have the ability to live according to our principles.
Just for you I pulled the stats. In the US on average 1,000 people die from electricity every year. In the US on average 42,000 people die in car accidents every year.
Absolutely right! Be careful, & do as much research as possible, sift out the bad stuff, in any specific subject & situation. Don't be afraid of opening a book. Put the laptop down every once in a while.
There are really only 2 types of people who believe you should "leave it to the professionals". Those who are "professionals", and those who lack the motivation to learn. Neither group is worth listening to.
I don't have the money to go to school so yes I do go to the Internet to learn things. I started my ginger beer last night, used the excess hot ginger and made ginger candy. So I made candy, ginger beer, and still have my ginger bug that's about to get stored away for a bit. I learned to avoid bad carbs, etc, all from the Internet.
(College and trade school) What you get that's not available online is connections to the industry thru your instructors, better chances at better jobs. Not disagreeing that it's best to teach yourself so you can DIY. But there is some value in post-high school education. Although for college, costs are too high.

There’s usually a way to do something without the expensive tools-you just have to be prepared for it to take longer. (And most of the time you’ll be happier with the end result!)
I'm sorry, what does your height have to do with electricity? Closer to ground?
My homeschooled son briefly returned to public school. He got straight A's and was bored out of his mind. He was so far ahead of all his classmates. He asked to return to homeschooling. He's now an apprentice, on the job training, welder.
Good welders are in high demand.
That's a smart young man.
If Joel Salatin becomes "Advisor to the Secretary” of the USDA , it will be a game changer.
Oh that would be phenomenal!!
@@giancolabird Well, we don't always get what we want, but it sure would be nice.
Grandfather finished eighth grade, joined the navy, and fought in WW2. He was a trained engineer and went on to become a Chief Warrant Officer who helped develop the first nuclear carrier in the Navy. He never had any formal schooling outside of the navy.
That man is the pinnacle of knowledge in his field. The “phd”
❤
They don't teach handwriting any more.... And math not so much either as a matter of fact.
@@alexlindekugel8727 I agree, a person needs to know their limits... I can weld but would NEVER trust my weld on a pressure tank.
State certified teachers are setting a very low standard for the rest of us.
Especially the ones we see on social media…🤦♂️
I’m a self taught herbalist learning through experience. We are creating a whole new world, keep going!!!

Hahahahaha....yes. But if he is a "journeyed" electrician, he is well trained.
"State Certified Teachers" spend years of training JUST TO BE AS GOOD A TEACHER as God made parents to be naturally.
Certification is basically for crowd management.
Woke training I am thinking.
Government indoctrination!!!
No thanks. "They" want a society of workers, not thinkers.
And a good teacher, can never take the place of a good parent ! But a great teacher, can make a huge difference in a child who has no parents ! Does that mean that we do away with parents ? What kind of crazy thinking would that be...

37% of people die in car accidents compared 10% by electricity at their house.
So 47% of people die from either electrocution or car wrecks? Sure about that?
Thanks
No.
Maybe 37 out of 100,000 per year, but that would still be below 3%
All cures are in the garden, not a lab.
This needs to be a new motto .
As a lab person, I completely agree. I learned just enough in the lab to be dangerous 😏
Most of the children I know of, who are homeschooled, are polite as well.

I became a nurse at a trade school. Cost my books, uniforms, and about 300$. I was employable day one after passing the NCLEX. 1985. Made good money at a hard job. It was well worth it
I was going in the late 80s also to be an RN

We left the scamdemic up to the professionals, we will never recover from that mistake.
My very intelligent father wanted to become a civil engineer. He bought the curriculum suggested by engineers, studied, was mentored at the civil engineering staff where he worked as a draftsman, passed the state exam and became a professional engineer. It was the early 1960s.
People are in so much danger right now and they sit there and nitpick each other
I agree with you, the only thing holding people back is their own doubts and insecurities. You can do anything you want to do if you are willing to do the work.

If the current state of our country is the result of leaving it to the professionals. I would say it's time to leave it to us dummies.
Exactly, I can basically treat anything. If I'm going to the hospital, I'd better be dying....and even then I think I'd rather stay home.

Finally someone saying the real truth
As one who has been trained as a home inspector, home inspections began by people who were not professional home inspectors.
Our school district uses teacher aids which do most of the instruction. By the way our state did away with the bar exam.

You are correct
What I do understand is you have certified say electrician that has to be then inspected to make sure they did it right but that inspector will not inspect homeowners work because they are not certified. You are the inspector if the work is done proper then it is good to go.

When i first came to our land from the suburbs i went to the library to learn about gardening, poultry and goats, no internet until later years.

My teaching degree made homeschooling a lot harder and less effective. What I did in the classroom does not work for our homeschool!
