Meaning: the ball TRAVELS in the direction the strings are "pointing" (perpendicular to stringbed), the ball SPINS in the direction the racket moves through space, i.e. *high-to-low* = slice backhand or drop shot *low-to-high* = topspin *side-to-side* = slice serve or "banana shot"
Yes, that's a nice way of saying it too. But again, Allen is a very intelligent guy and consciously he already knows that the ball more or less goes where the racket face points. It's the subconscious mind and execution of slice type of shots that "don't believe" the ball will go up unless you swing up.
I started playing tennis recently and took about 15 lessons. I couldnt grasp the fundamentals. I watched your videos from 4 years ago and you gave me the aha moment of a fundamental forehand. Excellent Tomaz . Good example could be short iron golf swing. The path on impact is downward and the ball goes up.
