Every single person I knew that tried to live the movie college experience ended up losing all their friends, failing, dropping out and moving back in with their parents. Unlike me, who never made friends, graduated, then moved back in with my parents.

I joined a fraternity not too long ago, and this is exactly what it's like. It's super fun, don't let this discourage you from joining, but I'm not out with the frat getting hammered every night.

Which is realistic, because in real life women talk to each other about things other than men too!

To be fair, American Pie 2 passed the Bechdel test. It's really not that hard to do.
But honestly, I prefer the sexy lamp test anyways. Or the Mako Mori test. Which I mainly like because it subconsciously reminds me of the Kobayashi Maru test in Star Trek.

      Wtf is a bechdel test

    • @deg1studios

@@bucinator9879 the bechdel test tests a film's female representation. To pass the test there has to be at least two women, who have names, and talk to eachother about something other than a man.
So if you're watching a comedy, and the female characters spend their entire screentime talking about the male characters, it doesn't pass the bechdel test.
Films like The Lighthouse or The Shawshank Redemption obviously doesn't pass the bechdel test since there are no women featured at all.
The bechdel test isn't taken very seriously. A film isn't bad if it doesn't pass it, and it isn't good just because it does pass it. Its mostly used to track how much female representation there is in the film industry as a whole, like in statistics.

Oh god. Am I… the only one who had a pretty movie college life? I went to dumb theme parties every weekend, drank way too much, went out 3-4 nights a week and spent a LOT of time on road trips for my extra-curricular which brought me half the friends I have going into my 30s. I will say, there was also all the dramatic parts of the non-comedy movies too. Friends who overdose, every other girl having a SA story to tell, friends having affairs with profs all wrapped up in a bow of massive emotional and intellectual personal discovery.
