Hey everyone! Here I am with some BONUS STUFF so that we can keep enjoying more Arcane together!!! DANG!! Did not expect these videos to be so spot on - it looks like Arcane stayed really faithful to the source material! LOVED hearing the full version of Enemy, Get Jinxed was so fun and twisted, Warriors was so epic and made me want to see more LoL characters, and Seconds was really fun and impactful! I knew I'd like these but didn't think they'd be quite THIS good and in the same spirit as the show, you know? Great stuff! Enjoy! ~ MH

17:08 Just want to add that from what we've seen in Arcane, it seems Jinx needs loud noises to cover her own internal voices to "calm" herself down. So the monkey making that noise helped her sleep and when it stopped, it brought her back to real life.

    • @bridgethaines7127
      @bridgethaines7127 2 года назад +6

In Arcane, she silenced those voices in the final scene. Once Silco tells her she's perfect, there are no more scratchy overlays, no whispers, she's fully in her own head and her own person. Everything she does from that moment is without the voices in her head.

@@bridgethaines7127 You can't really conclude that from the ending of Season 1 - Just because the voices went away, doesn't mean they won't come back. Besides, the "voices" were always a reflection of her own chaotic mind and tumultuous emotions, they were her own doubts and fears given voice - those feelings aren't likely to go away, even if the voices themselves aren't there anymore.

So a few informations for you. The world of runeterra (that's what the world in league of legends is called) is very big and have very big lore it's far bigger than just Piltover and Zaun and many of the champions didn't even met each other in the lore so you will see many characters that weren't in Arcane . Runeterra have 12 regions and league have 159 playable champions if I'm not wrong (and we still getting a new ones), so these regions are Piltover, Zaun, Noxus, Demacia, Shurima, Ionia, Ixtal, Bilgewater, Shadow Isles, Targon, Bandle city City and Freljord. In warriors cinematics you saw 3 of these regions Zaun(you already saw this in Arcane, Demacia (it was that location with the castle) and Shurima (that egypt looking region) and you saw 9 of champions
    Vi
    Caitlyn
    20:56 Lux: lady of luminosity
20:58 Garen: the might of Demacia (he and Lux are siblings
    21:15 Ezreal: the prodigol explorer
    21:29 Sylas: the unchackled
22:08 Kai'sa: the daughter of the void
    22:18 Urgot: the dreadnought
23:51 Galio: the colossus (and yes this big thing is also a champion that you can play in the game

"Get Jinxed" was animated by the same studio of arcane (Fortiche) and actually the first of many collaborations that culminated in the joint project of "Arcane". Its also the first music video and got so popular that created a joke about riot games being a music studio uses a game as advertisement.
At first they didn't have a lore they just worked on a concept make a visual and a few paragraphs background. i think that was around 2015-2016 they decide revamp all the lore from the ground up and tackle new industries (comics, books, animation, etc) but was already so big that even with the new things being launched already in line with the new lore many older parts still not updated. one of this parts is the parts relevant to arcane(my conjecture: is that they hold purposefully this part to show through arcane) so in a scene arcane conflicts with the canon(but i believe that will be the new canon when arcane is finished and they move onto other stories in universe).

League of legends has a GIGANTIC lore (backstory) it's so well written and amazing. Fans of the game have been bagging for a tv show for ages, and that's where Arcane comes from. They chose one of the most liked characters to focous the story around (Jinxs) and yeah there are a lot of new aspects of the story for the show. Just so u can imagine how big the League story is, arcane only focus on a city of the entire world that is the runeterra, and yet still we just have like half of the characters that we know from the city in the show. (We as league fans have been reading those stories for years and where very happy to see this world on tv). And just to answer your question at the end ( the mais game [league of legends]) is not very story-based, u can read it as a plus

To be perfectly fair, they took one of the more token and simple characters there were and fleshed the heck out of her. Both Ekko and Singed were probably the better fleshed out in-universe, and I'm kinda glad they left them on the sidelines, just because they're already well written and fleshed out, using this opportunity to improve on the other characters really helped cementing those characters in people's hearts, giving them the depth I felt they originally lacked.

Really enjoy all your Arcane Reactions. Thanks.
Also, another insight into the backstory in the video is how the lyrics are synergiyzing with what's being depicted:
Particularly, the portentous intercut scenes of Vi pillow play fighting Powder/Vi admonishingly real fighting Powder after theirs and the others' accosting by the Enforcers, consequent of THIS: the scene sequence indicates that as the Enforcers did what is likely a routine display of authority in the Lanes, the more streetwise kids affected submission/indifference as they passed, but they noticed the "Not looking out for Herself" Powder's smoldering defiance and her subsequent blatant miming shooting them in their backs.
And subsequently, Jinx's aegis stance behind Powder in the menacing mob of Enforcers conveying lesson learned, having become her own Vi and now "Looking out for Herself."

League of Legends doesn't have a story mode, it's a competitive multiplayer game.
But Legends of Runeterra (the card game spin-off) tells you a lot more of the world and there is a singleplayer RPG called Ruined King which I can recomment.
Otherwise, most of the universe is shown in the cinematics, comics and short stories.
Arcane is not a part of the main universe.
It changed the story of almost every character, but keeps the overall world building the same, which I really like.
The person in the Warriors video isn't Vander, it's Sylas. Vander isn't directly a character in League of Legends, at least not as we have seen him until now.

Heh . . . glad you enjoyed Warriors! But the only two characters from Arcane are Vi and Caitlyn. :-)
Riot has REALLY done a lot of work in the last 5 or 6 years to build up the lore of Runeterra (the world where all these characters live) and these videos really highlight all that work.
    Two things:
    1) The game is nothing like the videos! :-) You might enjoy it, but League's worldbuilding and the game itself are two VERY different beasts. I love both, but one has almost nothing to do with the other.
    2) You might really enjoy looking up lore about League and its characters, but . . . you WILL come across spoilers. Such as which characters have "plot armor". (For example, we know there's at least a few people that survive Jinx's rocket at the council chamber . . . because they're game characters.). Also, some knowledge of League lore made Episode 3 WAAAY more tense than it already was . . . and I suspect some of the fallout from that event still hasn't really been revealed fully.
Your reactions are quite fun, and I'll definitely be back for not only more League content, if you get into it, but other reactions.
Thank you for all the time and love you've put into Arcane!

So the Warriors cinematic came out a while before Arcane did, so there aren’t supposed to be any characters from the show minus the champs meant to be in it. The guy with the chains is not Vander, as Vander isn’t a champion in League. That’s Sylas, and was imprisoned in Demacia for being a mage, as magic is heavily outlawed there. The other champs in the scenes with him were Lux, the blond girl, Garen, the big guy with the sword (who is Lux’s brother) and Galio, the giant statue Lux summons. The blue Crystal that the blonde dude picked up wasn’t hextech, but an unrelated magical artifact called Tear of the Goddess, which is an in-game item. The blonde dude who grabbed said artifact is Ezreal, an explorer who actually is from Piltover, but wasn’t in arcane. The girl that helped him is Kai’Sa, who was kidnapped by the Void at a very young age and had her body fused with a parasite to survive in the void, and now uses it to fight the void creatures. Yes, those two were Caitlyn and Vi, but the official league lore for them is slightly different than arcane since Arcane itself isn’t technically canon, but an alternate timeline. The big guy they were fighting is Urgot, who was sent to Zaun by Noxus, a warmongering country that is mentioned in Arcane, only to be ambushed and imprisoned by the chembaron Baron Voss until he busted out and took over the mine he was imprisoned in, and then replaced parts of his body he thought were weak with chemtech that he took from other people that needed them to survive. And since you mentioned it, No, League of Legends looks nothing like the Warriors cinematic. The game was released in 2010, it’s WAY less graphically advanced. It’s definitely improved over the years, but it’s nothing like the cinematics.

The guy on the battlefield wasn't Vander, his name is Sylas. He is a mage in Demacia, a country where magic is essentially outlawed. Magic is obviously frowned upon in Piltover too at the start of the series and is probably still distrusted when it isn't connected to technology, but Piltover doesn't imprison people for simply having the ability to channel magic. Demacia does. Sylas isn't necessarily a good guy either though.
Btw, there is no champion in League of Legends called Vander. He is an original character for the show, same as Silco.

Anyway, the Jinx song in in the show too, Jinx listen to it while working on the Hextech gem. And no, that guy in the Warrior video is Garen not Vander. Vander is not directly in the game, even though there exist a fan theory that Vander is Warwick in the game, but if that is true we probably have to wait for the second season of Arcane. But yes, that was Caitlyn there! Garen and his sister Lux world fit well into Arcane, since they both are tied deeply to the theme of the show about the dangers of magic.

Definitely not Vander in the Warriors video. Vander was an original character for the show.
The man in the trailer is named Sylas. He is from Demacia (where the trailer fight is occurring). Demacia also has a prejudice against mages, much like Piltover did in the show, and Sylas was born with the gift. There's more to his story but he was oppressed by the Demacian government, and is using his abilities now to attempt to free mages from Demacian oppression.

To clarify a bit for you :)
Even though League of Legends are not a story game per say, all the characters that they release and are in the game have a backstory that intertwine with other characters in different ways and are set in both different time periods and locations in Runeterra (the LoL-world). You can read the lore of all the character on League of Legends webpage.
So the base story of Jinx was written when she, as a character, was released for the game in 2013. So what I think Riot did was that they picked some characters with interesting stories and made a bad ass series about it.
It's kinda been a running gag in the League community that the cinematics and music videos Riot makes are so good that they should make a Netflix Series, and little did we know, behind the scenes, for 6 year they have been doing just that :p
Great reaction! Dying to see more!

I wonder why Harley Quinn is the first thing that comes to mind :D
When she in fact was primarily influenced by the Joker, Gollum and Helena Bonham Carter (actress of Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter)
Maybe it is because she's a girl :D
Btw, after Jinx was released, on the official site from League of Vi and Cait, there were some graffiti at some point over the text...from SOMEONE :D Vi's title was overwritten with "FATHANDS" which is what Jinx calls her in the game ^^
Also Jinx never had a really big backstory, which always seemed a bit weird for League characters, since they are usually pretty solid and fleshed out. The only thing we knew was that she at some point showed up and created chaos everywhere and she was obsessed with Vi, but nobody knew exactly why

  • @buinugget6912

Music videos like Warriors contain other champions/characters from the game, apart from Caitlyn and Vi. The world of Runeterra is huge with multiple regions and Piltover and Zaun are two of them. Noxus, where Mel comes from, is also a region. Caitlyn’s dad looks a bit like a Eastern Asian, and there is also a region called Ionia based on Eastern Asian culture. It’s not confirmed but maybe Caitlyn’s dad is from there.
Arcane added other regions as a way to introduce audience to the LOL’s world, and after Arcane they will expand to other regions and make new shows for them.

Okay, wall of text ahead, not sure if you are interested in all of that, but I'll just write it all instead of splitting it over your next reactions, so you can come back to this:
A lot of people get into the rabbit hole that is LoL cinematics and songs after watching Arcane so: Arcane has only a handful of 150+ champions in it (yet) and all of those have interesting if not even better stories to tell. While you don't need to know anything to play the game and if you don't care for it never have to come in contact with any lore while playing, every chmapion already has a background story and maybe even comics/other stories released for them. If you wanna keep going (and most of these won't have any champions from LoL in them) I'd recommend going with more season start cinematics or music (NONE of this EXCEPT WARRIORS (2014) and maybe IGNITE (2016) should give you copyright claims):
Warriors is the season start cinematic (a LoL season most of the time starts in january and ends in november after the world championship - while the 2 months left are used for bigger changed in the game and where it doesn't interrupt proplay if something goes wrong) for the year 2020 (aka season 10). Other "hype" cinematics are: Awaken (2019), Ruination (2021) and The Call (2022). To enjoy Ruination, as it's part of a whole story that was told over a longer period of time, I'd recommend checking out in order: "The Climb", "Shadows Embrace", "Ruination", "Absolution". An older cinematic that is less about lore and more about showing the 5v5 aspect of the game is "A new Dawn" from 2014.
If you enjoy the artstyle (yes Get Jinxed was Fortiches first work for Riot) I'd recommend the most viewed video on the RUclips LoL channel: K/DA - Popstars. As the game is free to play the way to make most of their money is to sell skins (aka a champion in a what-if scenario and putting it into an alternative universe). For this project they used 4 champions (Ahri, originally a ninetailed foxdemon, devouring essences of her prey, Akali - originally a ninja parting ways with her clan to bring her "own" balance to the world, Evelynn - a succucbus-like demon taking form of things that are attractive to humans and Kai'sa - a champion that got trapped in the void [something like the big bad evil in the LoL world - think of thanos from Marvel] as a little child and now uses a symbiotic void armor to fight against the void since she is back) and put them into a kpop band. While the video was literally to advertise the 4 skins it got their biggest hit and like Arcane people from every genre who didn't even play the game came in contect with LoL. Cuz of it's success Riot gave K/DA a comeback in 2020, releasing 5 more songs with it, making a twitter account for K/DA, releasing interviews as if they were a real band. So if you enjoyed Popstars check out: The Baddest (Akalis song, lyrics video), More (group song like Popstars), I'll Show You (Ahris song), Villain (Eves song) and Drum go dum (Kai'sas song, choreography video).
Another nice cinematic series is the one for Legends of Runeterra, their in 2020 released card game. There you choose 2 regions of Runeterra (how the lol world as we know it is named) and build a deck with its available cards/theme. Every video introduced the viewer to one region, so maybe start out with Piltover (and Zaun) and go from there - here is the playlist: ruclips.net/video/oKt58b7AwJc/видео.html
Want more Jinx? Check out "Odyssey" - a skinline where she among other champions is in a Guardians of the Galaxy-like universe. Wanna listen to Vis release Song, even though she sadly doesn't have a music video like Jinx? Check out "Here comes Vi". Want more Ekko? There was no K/DA in 2019 but Akali, one of the members, took her time to make a side project, bringing some of her friends (in that alternative universe) into the spotlight. So she helped found True Damage with their song Giants.
People also enjoy when reactors visit the LoL website and go to the champions tab, there you can scroll through the 150+ champions and look at 1000+ skins. Warning that this is going to spoil what happens with Viktor (but we still don't know how it exactly happens, Arcane could mix it up a bit).
Every year there is a ~month long world championship (worlds in short) where all the pro teams of the world come together to compete and for the final best of 5 there always is an opening ceremony, using the songs from videos that got released in that same year. Also every worlds has a worlds song connected to it, focusing more on the players instead of the game. So the original Warriors is the 2014 song for worlds. Starting from there there is a music video for all the worlds songs: Worlds collide (2015), Ignite (2016), Legends never die (2017), Rise (2018), Phoenix (2019), Take over (2020) and Burn it all down (2021). You could listen to those but the -in my opinion- cooler thing is watching the opening ceremonies, starting in 2017 (small spoiler why thats interesting: they use augmented reality to bring the game to life - imagine having these virtual characters of K/DA in real life? Better check out what Riot does with those opening ceremonies ;) - and 2021 has more of Arcane stuff in it - the final was one day before we got to see the first episode on 6th november so no1 knew what to expect).
2017: ruclips.net/video/mP3fGkpmVM0/видео.html (Song: Legends never die)
    2018: ruclips.net/video/WYSJIoehGq0/видео.html (Popstars and Rise)
2019: ruclips.net/video/6QDWbKnwRcc/видео.html (Awaken, Giants and Phoenix)
2020: ruclips.net/video/_hugv0CBh-E/видео.html (K/DA, different versions of older worlds songs, Take over) - first covid year so while changing stuff around as best they could and not having technicians travel there i still enjoy this
2021: ruclips.net/video/1OzoFq4Q3_c/видео.html (Welcome to the Playground, Enemy, Burn it down)
People will probably tell you stories about the champions in those cinematics as soon as you react to them, so I'm not going to start here (also, you can imagine the huge text there would be to write for Jinx/Vi alone - and those videos show like 50 different champions with their own huge stories). ALSO: There is a meme if you wanna call it like that, to not start playing LoL cuz of the music or Arcane and these people will often bring up that the community is toxic. While the game looks and plays totally different from those cinematics (it's a 5v5 PvP game) the rest is really just an environment where humans compete with each other. As in real life sport it can get hectic at times and when something doesn't go your way, but LoL isn't the biggest game for years for no reason. But there are other Riot Games games that you could enjoy and use the same characters/universe: Teamfight Tactis is an Auto battler, Legends of Runeterra is a 1v1 cardgame but also has a story mode (including a Vi/Piltover one). tl;dr of "play the game?": Really just look at game footage or just try it yourself - it's free to play (like all of their games). Without supporting LoL we would've not gotten Arcane, so I really think it's not wise to make new people stay away from ways to support Riot cuz they want some easy meme upvotes/karma.
Enjyoed your Arcane reaction and I hope to see some more LoL stuff on your channel, have a nice day o/

The story of season 1 is supposed to be a prequel to the vi and jinx we know in league although not exactly accurate to everything we know in league. Also the fans always guessed that those 2 were sisters because of some of their lines but the show was the confirmation. Until then we could only guess at jinx's backstory and why vi and caitlin are the enforcers always on jinx's tail, also why fiddlesticks (a demon of fear) always hinted to a dark backstory for jinx that we didn't know while jinx always seemed so carefree, crazy, and having fun. Also who was the sister that jinx refers to sometimes who she thinks is worse then her. Arcane basically answered a lot of questions but they also rewrote parts of the story of some of the characters like jayce and victor so it's not fully canon.

League Jinx differs from Arcane Jinx primarily in that League Jinx isn't suffused with all the heart-breaking tragedy that Arcane Jinx is. It is difficult to imagine Arcane Jinx ever adopting the same carefree, manic pixie dream girl, Harley Quinn personality you see in "Get Jinxed" (or the game). BTW, in Arcane episode 4, Jinx is listening to "Get Jinxed" (the song) while she is working with the mechanical butterfly.

They`re called Firelights(A radioactive insect native to Zaun Ekko`s vigilante/community service group is named after, in the "Enemy" music video it`s basically symbolic of those remnants of Powder`s innocence and dependence in Jinx). Also, contrary to popular belief Jinx has very little to do with Harley Quinn outside of being a pale-skinned, energetic, anarchistic crazy girl who likes to shoot people and blow stuff up. Also Jinx had the whole pink and blue color scheme before Harley and kept it after they stopped using it for Harley and reverted to the red, white and black!Jinx was actually based on Gollum, Heath Ledger`s Joker and Helena Bonham Carter`s characters in "Harry Potter" and "Fight Club". This is even reflected in the way she speaks and looks in the Games.

League have more than 150 characters, but on Arcane You can see only a few Of them, Jinx, Ví, Victor, Jayce, Heimerdinger, Caitlyn, Singed and one more but on Arcane have a diferent name and also a diferent body aspect im not going to Say the name cause on season two he Will appear and i not gonna spoil you (maybe another one if the mage who saves jayce was a character but is not confirmed)... So yes, they created a hole pool Of new characters for the show... This is very positive cause they can work Really deep the characters, if you put so Many, they Lost so much time on screen, and that is a common error for most shows based on videogames
Arcane was on production for 6 years...
Another videos: "tales Of runaterra piltover and zaun true Genius" "wild Rift Target practice" have characters You know, and also "wild Rift You Really got me" have jinx but only she and is not Arcane related"... Jinx have 2 more videos on pararels universes like being a Pilot like guardiana Of the galaxy and the other like a magical girl with sailor moon Styles...

Here`s the lore for Jinx that gave us "Arcane":" Though most look at Jinx and see only a mad woman armed to the teeth with explosives and firearms far larger than herself , some older folks in Zaun remember a very different person matching her description, a relatively innocent tinkerer from Zaun who didn`t fit in and came to a bad end. What happened to turn that sweet child into a chaotic mad woman with a love of explosions and firearms no one quite knows but once she exploded onto the streets of Piltover, her talent for sowing anarchy became the stuff of legend."

Enemy: I think we're seeing a little self-contained story about Powder.
Powder is thinking about how it all went down, sat in The Last Drop. The gang hang out, watching Vi box, then Vi's little gang get a job. They're staking out the market and the food stall - Powder and Ekko are having a good time, but Vi is scowling, keeping watch for something. It goes bad, and someone's getting beaten up (I think it's Mylo), and the enforcers spot Powder, remembering her from riding around with Ekko. Vi and Powder get picked up, just to scare them, and let go. Vi blames Powder for it, and the two have a flaming row in their room which ends with Powder falling backwards, scared (Vi didn't hit her) and Vi storming off.
I don't know who the other characters in Warriors are (definately not Vander, that guy is too young, too thin, fights differently and is in the wrong part of the world) but I think we might be seeing some of them in future seasons. I've never played League, but I think given how foreshadowed Noxus is (where Mel is from) we might be seeing Noxus and the characters from them next season.

I played League for all of 5 minutes. I have no commentary on the game mechanics or anything so I can't tell you how good of a game it is. I'm sure it's a fine game or it wouldn't have lasted this long, but I was lured in by how amazing the cinematics and character designs and lore were and then when I got in game I was appalled at how horrendous the game looked. As a person obsessed with character designs and only playing games that are pleasing to the eye, it was like a betrayal I couldn't forgive and because of it, I almost didn't watch Arcane. It took a friend repeatedly badgering me to watch it and now it's my current hyperfixation. I even bought the Caitlyn statue they sell in Riot Games' store because she's adorable but, still not going to reinstall LoL.
Vi's looks are definitely more male-gaze oriented in the cinematics and character design for the game then she is in Arcane (although her game character design totally has a mullet and I'm so glad they changed her hair) and she's also taller than Cait which is the opposite of Arcane lol. I think the Jinx in the video is far more Harley Quinn-like than in Arcane. In Arcane, I feel like she's significantly more traumatized and not as carefree with more of a mean streak. Arcane basically solidified some theories that were revolving around the LoL lore, like Jinx and Vi being sisters and also the Cait/Vi speculations (yes Vi does call Caitlyn Cupcake in the game lol)
Anyway, enough rambling from me. I'm so glad you watched the series and I look forward to s2.

FYI, Arcane is pretty barren and dry when it comes to story telling and lore if you compare it to the whole of Runeterra, playing the game WILL NOT give you anything regarding the lore, the best way is either playing Legends of Runeterra, Ruined King or going to the Universe webpage and reading, it's massive and very hard to cover everything

The game looks nothing like the cinematics, sadly. It's a top down MOBA. It's fun, especially non-competitive stuff like ARAMS/Howling Abyss but the playerbase can be extremely toxic. I play only ARAMs now 10 years into playing it, and I keep 'all chat' turned off. There are over 140 champions in League of Legends, and only a handful from Piltover and Zaun, most of which are already in Arcane :D Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Singed, and Viktor. With a very brief appearance of what may be another one.
