- High Roller Leaderboard grinding is the Strangest thing I've done in Dark and Darker. It feels way too friendly. Here's hoping I can get to demi-god and be done for this season. Let me know your thoughts.

Don't Forget I do stream on Twitch Monday/Wednesday 8pm est Usually... watch me crawl through this exhilarating meta. www.twitch.tv/wilsons_game
This is unfortunately only a solos problem. I think it's partially because PvP has no real AP reward, but also because of how insanely rampant barbarian is in solos. If you take the easy ranger kill you're risking taking the aggro of the three barbs that are faster, stronger, and tougher than you on fighter. Similarly, if you're friendly with the barbs, then you have security against the non-teamers
exactly, well put
I agree there is too much friendliness overall, but there's something about hearing someones backstory, or helping them out instead of killing them sometimes that just is a different, good feeling. I love PvP, and I love the friendliness.
speaking as someone who used to play 8+ hours of DaD everyday ive kinda been taking a break for a week now. the friendly situation in HR is just incredibly boring and people being shocked when you want to fight them is just strange
Exactly the same for me, if you wanna fight people get upset and it turns into 2 or 3v1s all the time. I used to play this game a stupid amount and I’ve been on a break for a while now with this being one of the reasons why
It’s so much better than getting W keyed by rmt kits or steamers that have a shit bucket next to their gaming chair lol. I agree that it needs to be adjusted a bit and be a little more incentivized, but it’s better at this state than what it was before.
It's sad to see that every "Hotfix" brings a ton of weird changes to the meta. By disincentivizing PvP through low AP gain and there being an abundance of loot and portals, it's no wonder everyone just farms their MMR by gunning for loot side by side. Better buff ranger, I guess.😮💨
I’ve noticed that too; whenever I’m aggressive in this game, I have to listen to this whole spiel about how much of an asshole I am and it’s just like “go play Minecraft then”
You should be able to play this game however you want and you should be able to exist in harmony with people who play differently
When I first started playing this game, I didn’t like how nervous I’d get whenever seeing another player. But now that everyone’s so damn friendly, I kinda miss that sense of danger. I get like 500+ AP in HR but mainly because everyone stays out of my way. It doesn’t feel as earned as it should, but at the same time it’s like “do I wanna get into a timely and sweaty 1v1 or do I just wanna leave w my wolf pelts” yknow
i need to incorporate more among us into my gameplay.. there's no fear out there.
There is not point to play the game without pvp risk. thats the whole point
i like playing a lil game of clue w all the friendlys, silently take them out out of sight lol
Agreeth upon 😂
Yes everyone's like "howdy doody, loot loot loot," barbarian here, there and there, rogue in the rafters
Barely a fight happens
I see this as a big reason why Ironmace is working on a PvP arena mode/map.
I dont see a problem with these lobbys, i only play trios and nobody is friendly there, but it is interesting to see solos trying to make friends to go through the dungeon together. It reminds me of the old mmos where you would start interacting with silly questions like "fishing lvl?" and all of the sudden u made a friend to play with
I hope ironmace finds a good way to squash the care-bear meta we're in right now
I believe that solo hr went soft/friendly looting lobbies once the rogues were nerfed as there is no incentive for pvp for a rogue as it is statistically better to go after farming for ap. Why would a rogue risk losing ap in an uphill battle if they can guarantee ap farm by stacking bandages and potions and looting in the swarm. Obviously if they switch the ap to pvp instead of pve then rogue would need a buff to compete with the other classes as he is underwhelming in hr for pvp. I imagine this will be even worse with the ice map as there is no timer on the map so if the rogues dont get buffed I foresee just more friendly looting lobbies without risk of swarm lol. i used to think it would be challenging to get rogue demigod, now its just guaranteed if I farm in the swarm and max out agility and movespeed
Game needs an objective based mode (capture the flag/ zone control/mission mode) and a more PVP mode. Also if there were more magical buffs/faster buff respawns - I think it would be beneficial too. People would be incentivize to fight over buffs and those buffs would give players a reason to fight even if they had poop gear.
I quit after week 2, but still enjoy this channel
lol, ty I'm just sharing HR I still love normals.
With this tragedy of an update, I have played normals 100%, and have never looked back nor been happier.
Loot is too powerful and makes fights unwinnable, in normal that is NEVER the case.
Killed you the other day, we had a good fight, I jumped off the bridge on Ruins and almost landed on your head, but somehow you were aware and dodged it at the last second. Hope to see ya out there, forget HR and the "Rankings".
cheers:)
I want to try and win a fight in one of these lobbies and swap gear/clothing and try and get away with it. Run as warlock with the demon armor perk, putting on armor while nobody’s looking and say I’m a friendly fighter and try and get out of it. It’s essentially among us in Dark and darker now.
Basically, a different kind of scary
I wish I had this kinda encounters once in awhile.
Here in SEA, its either them gold farmers teaming or KOS.
Lol, once and awhile I can handle. This was many raids in a row now.. too much of one thing gets a bit boring
I still think making dnd survival game would make BANK
The irony is that this is always where DaD was headed. Its based on D&D (a cooperative game). Its also the only decent first person dungeon crawl game on the market, certainly the only multiplayer one. This game is drawing in a massive crowd of people looking for a fun sword play dungeon game and most of them aren't interested in pvp. For us, other players are just roaming mini bosses with better pathing and reactions than the ai.
Im really excited to see arena come out, not because i want to play it but because the two types of people that play this game will finally be able to play with other like minded users.
I think it’s real rough in solo HR ruins I had 5-6 games back to back of friendly lobbies and I didn’t want to 1v6 the lobby so I became very friendly with the players but the people who do want to fight are land mine rogues and barbs with 350 ms which is hard for most classes to deal with
yea, most of the PVP is when you are at a severe disadvantage as they know they have a really good chance to win.
Exactly. Thing is this game is also rock paper scissors. My goal has always been to just get out with my loot. If I want to pvp I'll just save up the money to buy the gear. What ever is meta at the time just hard counter it. Meta is always changing and most people play meta, your options are hard counter or run. Once you get good at running and hiding then pvp can start. I mainly play fighter, cleric and bard. Let the sweats do the hard work while you just buy up there gear. Alot of people want to finish quests so pvp becomes last on the list todo.
There is nothing more satisfying than a good smack with a shield :D
Agreed
My wife disagrees.
..just kidding I don't have a wife.
..anymore.

My lawyers have advised me not to answer that question. But let's just say it gave her a movement speed penalty.
Removing crypts as an option kind of killed my motivation to play this game. I just don't like ruins as a map, and while the 3-layer system seems good in theory... it results in long and boring sessions where fighting feels like a waste and the reward for doing so is -AP.
That combined with my main class ranger being nerfed into the ground I just don't feel like playing lately. Hope some good changes are made to the game soon, I'm way too demotivated to play right now.
More AP on kills, or maybe even "stealing" 30% of the acquired AP up to that point if they are killed. (even works in teams, you can "lose" AP for dying and resing), or just LESS PORTALS OUT. will force fights
Yesterday I was with 7 other people in crypts near the end circle all be friendly
I think that it would be cool if ironmace just added a reduction for ap if people don’t get a player kill that game. Have like blue rank lose 100 from their total that game if they didn’t get a kill then so on. It would help make the higher ranks all about fighting and the best pvp players not just pve
Lol our experiences are way different every map I get into in high roller everyone is constantly fighting or chasing I find no friendly people ever
The worst part is that this is quite literally every solo HR lobby. Within seconds of spawning people will be in groups of 2 or 3 ready to kill anyone that doesn’t comply with their version of ranking up. By far the most boring iteration of leaderboards, I’d much rather have a kill leaderboard like they used to. High roller should be risky to queue into, not whatever it is now. I’m afraid the general player base is too far deep into this play style and any (good) changes for more PvP in HR will be met with backlash by all these people. I say this because of how many pissed people told me I’m wrong for wanting to PvP in comments. Of course arena is coming but the risk of losing or stealing loot is what makes a game like this fun.
as a ranger I just cant help but to shoot an arrow into a head thats not moving, has got me jumped where ive won and lost lol. all around fun though.
RS music; keeper
You should be able to play this game however you want and you should be able to exist in harmony with people who play differently
The way I see it,this is an extraction looter game, you can fight and sometimes it works out you get loads of ap off their loot and ball out or...you just loot the map be chill and get the same amount of ap anyway its about extracting alive that's the only way to progress and, everyone wants to progress right? So it's incentivized to not fight other players to up your chances of you guessed it...extracting alive sure that person may be carrying some baller gear but let's be honest he's going to 2 shot you if you fight him so why bother when he wants to mind his own business. That's my 2 silver coins on the matter anyway
In my experience just wait till near the end of match ( last few circles ) the scared new players are either dead or out and the people who stick around have decent loot and the lower number's make it managable if people consider you "mean".
the friendly shit is annoying . at the begining of the season hr was nothing but spawn rushing but now all ppl do is work together and if they see a specific class like lock or ranger specifically and sometimes wizard those 3 classes get teamed on and rushed constantly or u run into groups of 3-4 people constantly and its fking irritating . if i wanted to fight 2-3 ppl solo i would be playing trios-solos they need to remove voip from hr completely. the only upside to the teaming is betraying ppl go in as a wizard with intense focus find a group teaming at friendly and make them feel like a worthless pos for teaming
Everyone's friendly till you're the wizard that took some damage. Then you gotta kill at least two players to survive
These friendly lobbies are dufferent. It is kinda fun to boss with the solo lobby tho. Also, its very fun to try to het some one alone who is unsuspecting and murder them. If anyone else sees, youre definitely marked lol
lol. among us
I'm pretty new to the game and have enjoyed friendliness to the extent that people were willing to help teach me the game, mid game, after noticing that I was new. However, this is a bit much. It would be a pleasantly unique experience if the PvE was enough to allow use from teaming but also PvP was rewarding enough to where it wouldnt be seen as wrong to do it. There's a lot of fun in the anxiety of not knowing whether someone is an ally or an enemy, and it shouldnt be looked down upon for someone to be either. But as it stands, the PvE isnt that hard, so the game just wont be that challenging or interesting unless most people are PvPers, which AP is not currently balanced for it seems.
If you want justification for organic teaming voip and ask if they want to go to hell in ruins. Mobs are definitely justified there.
@@Rift93 Yeah but as it currently stands, pretty much no-one wants to go there since the rewards are next to none.
Put in a 10 man raid for pve. Would be fun allow players to group up past trios and just face a hard raid boss together
Yeah its gross. While I like the AP system - the cost for entry not being gold has made HR soft. Making PVP kills worth more AP would deffently cause the friendly lobbies to go away.
teaming is a ban able offense
If it is done organically, it is not.
This is a game problem, not a fanbase problem. I enjoy the interactions I have through voip and many times I would rather not fight in hr cause I just want to rank up. If pvp had benefits I would engage more often.
Friend and Friendlier
i dont mind
its certainly different, maybe I'll actually make it up the leaderboard this way :)
But the problem is that you care about AP simply don't care about AP. And have fun
true, I just want the rewards then Ill PVP on my side character.
if they changed the leaderboard next patch to kills instead of AP oh would the lobbies turn into a blast. sick of this boring 1v7 gameplay whenever i bring out gold gear bc everyone else is busy suckin eachother off in mid.
Yea, its rare I see anyone fighting now
waffle waffle waffle nothing he says amounts to anything
true, im just sharing my experience with HR.
Either die with removed and no voip or live long enough to become the chinese teamers
Solos is not the place for fighting unfortunately. Solos seem to be where people go to either hard grind the ranks or get gold. Ive had wonderful fights in duo and trio high roller, not a single teamer since I started lfging. Someone as good as you may even be able to go in solo in the duos and have some decent fights, since you know its only gonna be 2 guys and not the whole lobby.
maybe, I was thinking of messing around on another character.
Goblin caves is much better for pvp its like a light switch
yea solo has been so cringe
Solo HR has always been a friendlier place than normals or groups, this isn't new
except now it's nearly every game.
Game is better now, seethe more. If you want guaranteed and "fair" PvP from the first second after spawn, go play trios. This is the second video in a week I have seen from manchildren whining about PvP in solo ruins HR. Last guy went in dressed as a bard-shaped loot pinata, shot 3 different people within the first minute (without using voice to negotiate or finishing any of the fights he started), got chased around the level for like 5 minutes then died. Posted it online complaining about a "lack of PvP" and "teaming" (he literally aggro'd the whole lobby by himself then cried about teaming lol). He got roasted.
How did I know you were going to be showing ruins for the entire length of the video? Because the "problem" you have is 100% specific to this map; It's by far the most open map (and since GC rework, the smallest) and there's good reasons people don't mindlessly PvP there in solo. Just take red to crypts and have all the PvP you want, it's really not that long to wait unless you have ADHD. You literally explain the reasons people don't PvP in solo Ruins yourself - it's a complete waste of time and meds when there's 2 more maps to go. Why would people risk their loadout by being aggressive in the first few minutes of the run on a map with nothing good on it and where every ranger and bard can see you from a mile away?? Regardless, you are not entitled to 1v1 duels in Solo; that's simply not the nature of the game and if you don't want to factor environmental, social and strategic context into picking who and when you attack, then you should 100% go play something else that requires less patience and planning.
The only change that might make sense is to give reasonable amount of AP for handled gear - if you _do_ manage to get out with an inventory full of high-value equipped gear from player corpses without PVEing, you shouldn't be getting out with negative AP.
hi, man child here. Idk if you watched the end where everyone is dancing around in Crypts too. I also said that the good fun and great PVP has been in normals which I still enjoy. I am just surprised how different the experience has become in HR. A voip on loot simulator feels strange to me.
I'm glad you agree PVP in ruins is a complete waste of time.. which was the point of this video. I watched thelorr last night kill a full purple barb who had multiple legendary pieces. His reward upon leaving with this gear was -400 ap.
@@WilsonsGame I did say that I think handled equipped loot should give enough AP to not leave negative, but Ruins state of PvP has everything to do with how the maps progress now, not some cowardly player mentality. The game didn't get "soft", it smartened up. If you don't want aggressively divisive comments, don't use aggressively divisive titles.
Highroller LEADERBOARD has definitely gone soft and you can't deny it. Sure maybe it's a changing game, but its a much softer experience for sure. There is nothing at stake in these lobbies now. I also didn't label your comments as aggressively decisive you did that yourself. I actually enjoy being called a man child, makes me feel young. @@graysaltine6035
All you weirdos are saving gold coins. Mining ingots. And farming AP… you should try not doing any of that and just focusing on having fun
this is not my experience in HR it’s constant pvp and 3rd parties.
