Frankly I don't understand Brian saying he and Roger could have made it epic but chose not to.
They could have quite easily given us the "original" product on the CD of demos and THEN done an epic version for the single release.
Totally agree, what they done was a DEMO not a new song.. maybe this version not contai the very essential of origin demo but its a complete song..

Very interesting version. The introduction part sounds very good. The choice of the instrument could be something which should have been used for the official release. I personally like the haunting mood and the pure and crisp sound of the official release. The only thing I miss there is a second guitar solo or an alternate guitar part from Brian to give that song a more richer sound/structure. So you’ve done it here but left out the original guitar solo?
Except Freddie’s voice, everything is redone, because we don’t have access to the original multitrack.

I loved the guitars of the demos for this song who were around RUclips some years ago... They were like multilayered, I do not understand why Brian didn't do that again and maybe ask John to make his bass lines again, the song missed a little John style... I would like to listen to those demos again, but they were wiped away from here, maybe because of copyrights or Queen Productions, who knows (I would love to hear them again)
@@vertederox from what I know, Brian and Roger have done nothing but giving their agreement for the release of the song. All the work has been done by Justin, Josh and Kriss who have just edited the demo and cleaned it.
Thing is… the song was not finished, and it still sounds unfinished. according to Queen standards.

Loving the general idea here man, cool mix. The guitars seem to be the only thing that doesn't quite sound right. The rhythm guitars are missing a bite of bite in the mids somewhere maybe? They're just a little too reserved? And the solo guitar is begging for a track with the Deacy to bring out the high frequencies. I do love the Queen II style harmony guitars though \m/ very tasteful! A great alternate mix! \m/
This was a brilliant version the 3rd one so far the official Queen version of face it alone was the first the second one was fabulous it’s on you tube too it’s amazing what technology can do these days. 😀

Freddie's voice gets lost in the background music .... the first release by bri and Rog was perfect because it gave the chilling and very poignant idea that Freddie was really all on his own, far from his band mates and life friends.

This song was released as it was recorded back then, unfinished. It's not hard to imagine that it would be more complex if finished.
Reverse the question… why Queen didn’t put more effort in producing a better arrangement…. Very lazy approach
