Everyone is so upset that Indigo is not shooting in more picturesque, neat and upscale places. That is not what Indigo is looking for. Get over it. Bangladesh has upscale restaurants, shopping malls, posh residential areas, as well as grime, filth, slums etc. All of that is Bangladesh. He will see what he wants to see and what fascinates him. It will not match what you would want to see or want Indigo to see. Foreign travelers are not interested to see things similar to in their own countries. They want an adventure that is unique to Bangladesh. And that is what he is experiencing. Too bad if that embarrasses you. It means you are too detached from the reality of Bangladesh.

Riaz Osmani u r absolutely right brother! As a nation we are not wealthy enough but we are one of the most welcoming! Indeed travelers from abroad always more interested to the negative side of our country. It's really embarrassing. We would love to welcome you once again #indigotraveller but tis time for something positive.

najmus faisal Yes but we must not think of what Indigo is doing as negative. He is having a unique Bangladeshi experience. Good, bad and all. No point in trying to hide from reality.

You're doing an wonderful job. Travelling to places has always been a hobby but not many of us could afford it. But you're taking us to places where we only dream of going. I'm an Indian but I'm a Bangali and I love Bangladesh for so many reasons. If you visit West Bengal, you'll find more similarities with Bangladesh than differences. Thank you once again for everything. You're awesome. ❤

There is a part of Bangla land in India. It's a state called West Bengal. It's world famous and the city of Kolkata is one of the reasons. However, I've seen some people still get confused about being Bengali and Indian at the same time. Hope this helps!

Mahir Tazwar, Bengali is a race, Indian and Bangladeshi are nationalities. There are Bengalis all over the world but not all of them are Bangladeshis.

The shipyard graveyard breaks a huge amount of labor safety standards, hence no permit for you to expose those violations. Local businessmen profit by using dirt cheap workers to cut up the ship with the cheapest equipment available and then sell the metal at a much higher price. This tragedy of 'no safety for workers' is pervasive throughout Bangladesh. Many of the times the workers die or get permanently injured/burned or a terminal disease. And the owners don't care, they're absolutely heartless. And literally by the next morning, the worker is replaced, because the abundant supply of poor people will do almost any risky task to put food on the table. Really really sad.
Next time you come, I'd love to host you and show you more of Bangladesh. Your vlogs are legendary and I appreciate you highlighting my country. Thank you.

If you get permission to film at that ship graveyard you get from me a six-pak of beer ;-)
Last year or so a film crew in Belgium wanted also to make documentary about that ship graveyard but they were not allowed to film and also did not get permit for it. That permit is just an excuse cause they do not want anyone to see what is going on.
That factory earns millions of dollars and the people who work there have none safety or health guidelines. Every month people die on that warf cause of no safety regulations at all.
Also it would be a bad for the ship companies that dump there old ships in Bangladesh good knowing that it is bad for the enviroment and non-existing health and safety measures for the people that work there. If a ship company had to follow all regulations and do this in the western world they would have to pay millions to a shipyard too take the whole vessel apart , now they even get paid for the old vessel from that Bangladesh company.
That is why they are so afraid of journalists and freak out when someone is filming.
So i don't want to spoil the fun, but that permit to film, don't count on it. I find it also intresting place and probably those workers are happy that they have work.
I do not judge anything or anyone cause i do not life my own in Banglasdesh but just wanted to give you some background info from what i know why you can not/and will not probably film there.

The European countries are pissed that the ship breaking industry has moved to India, Bangla and Pakistan and so it tries to use non tariff barriers. Journalists get sucked in by the sense of western moral superiority and biased reporting and hence are not welcome.

    • @deepgee9214
      @deepgee9214 6 лет назад +3

Media is all about criticizing of everything and ignoring of good aspect. Medias don't talk how good it's to recycle junk from this graveyard but of course about talk about environmental issue only. If we really care about environment we should not be using AC cars refrigerators freezer etc unless we die without using them.
There's big difference between vlogger and media reporter. Media exaggerates about everything while vlogger talks facts. That's why people prefer social media over news media.

Nick i find it really amazing that u find us Bangladeshi people so welcoming and friendly. I dont deny that we are very friendly towards foreigners....but sometimes i feel that we stare too much at them. Sorry, it should make you feel uncomfortable but u take it in a very positive manner...which is admirable! I am from Chittagong but stay in Dhaka, and i have never been to the ship graveyard....u introduced me to it. Maybe i will visit one day!
About the trains...yes, they are pretty good. I too have begun to prefer trains over buses for long distance travel.

Hey Nick! You blend in so well its really good to see. So, about the ship breaking yards- I don't know if you are aware about this, these breaking yards are notorious for their lack of safety for their workers. You can almost say they are world known for that. So, they face constant inquiry from journalists from home and abroad regarding environmental pollution and work safety. Therefore, they are always concerned about this issue and might get aggressive. I'll suggest you to talk with local police and explain, hopefully they will help you get a permission to film from local councilor.

An amazing video to say the least. I can only imagine the scale of the area. I would love to tour the shops that sell the salvaged contents of the ships. I have been trying to purchase a ships clock from a couple of the local shops in Chittagong, but the prices I have been quoted are extremely high. I do understand that shipping must be a nightmare from Bangladesh, but I am just looking to buy a single clock. Anyway, keep making awesome videos like this one. Semper Fidelis

Yo, if you wanna explore Chittagong proper proper; Get someone local, preferably who can talk and understand English fluent. Get out of the central. Trust me, there is lot to see. Visit Sairu Hill resort in Bandarban, go to saint martin and cox's bazar (world's largest beach), visit the tea gardens in Sylhet, try out bengali food and the culture. It's pretty rich. You'll get good content and great shots as well if done right. Cheers man, have a good one.

But It's great to see u that u r not complaining, rather enjoying & praising everything. Best wishes to u. If u want to explore more natural beauty than don't forget to visit sylhet & rangamati.

Bro it's his personal choice to visit those places. He is visiting our country and as far I know as I'm a Bengali I have to welcome a foreign visitor. Whether he's doing the right thing or not. And guess what every country has negative and positive sides both. I guess these things will not be harmful for our tourism. He's traveling by his own money. You shouldn't be judgemental about his visiting.
