So I got one finaly. Sound is great, even when connected to the speakers instead headphones/IEMs. But one potential problem, when I connect mojo 2 to the charger and I touch mojo's case, I get these slight vibrations under my fingers, like there is an electric current leak flowing through the case. Is this normal or I might have a faulty unit?
Do you think the mojo 2 would help me get the most of my hd800s and diana v2? Or a mojo2 into an amp like the a90d if more power is needed(not sure how scaling works)

I have used a new fiio K3 220mw on 2.5mm (with a sudara) and wanted something more because i to thought that i missed something in the music. Now i have a Fiio K9 pro with 2.1watt for that same headphone, and yes i did hear allot of difference but all small ones (it`s like the K3 was gasping for air traying to get te most out of my sundara but could not do it. Now with my k9 everything just sounds easy and full were the sound with the k3 was there but thinn (It just could not do it). I`m very happy with it, but i to liked the K3 (i did not know better) I`ts allot of small things if you want to upgade, but if you like the sound stay with what you have. I`ts also about good files (Flac - wav - dsd or a good rip of a cd 1411 kbs) If you just listen to spotify or even deezer highress, the difference is much smaller (because the bitrate is much lower even though it says 1411kbs or what not. The same with a blueray disc or a stream of the same 1080p movie (on is 40gb ps the other 8, but still 1080p) Hope this helps :) have a great day.
Nice one, so its now the same amount of taps as Hugo2 with a lot of Hugo2 features (not all tho I think). So now time for Hugo2 with TT2 perofmance, TT3 with Daves performance and Dave 2. I hope they will add the hardware eq option to all tiers 🤞
Taps is not some be all measure. The Mojo 1 has more taps than the Hugo 1, but the latter sounds considerably better. There's much more to this than 1 number (unsurprisingly, have a look at the circuitboard in one of these)
@@falcodarkzz yup, that's why Dave on it's own is considered vastly superior to TT2 with Mscaler. What I mean is they are probably starting to refresh their range and I'm really hoping to get high quality hardware EQ in the next TT or at least Hugo. I just like my sound dirty 😂
I have both the mojo 1 and the hugo 2 and have not heard a sound improvement with the hugo 2 compared to the mojo l hugo 2 has a more powerful amplification and that's it. then I don't understand this thing that when a new product comes out everyone says it's incredibly better than the old one when the old product was amazing.
@@user-op4gb9si4q I had Hugo2 and there is a big difference between the white filter (Dave) and red filter (Mojo). Haven't had Mojo though, so can't fully comment. Can you not hear the difference in treble going from white to red on Hugo2?
I'd say somewhere between 10 and 15% improvement, plus you are getting hardware level tone controls and finally no wireless interference, like at all. People that used fist gen Mojo with their phones, know what I'm talking about.
It has to do with the capacitors that are storing power and unleash that power when the sound needs to increase or decrease its size, it's extremely important when reaching crescendo moments, or when dynamics are trying to get nuts. Big units can have big capacitance and a really good voltage regulation and filtration that adds transparency to the sound. Small units don't have the physical space for a healthy capacitance or voltage filtration. Yes, it has do to with the size of the units. Big units will always sound big for the above mentioned reasons.

I always preffered my Apple dongle to my Mojo for all my headphones and especially iems. The Mojo was too tamed on the highs. According to what I understood from your video, it's even worse, but it's possible to EQ it. Anyway the Mojo is such a nicely made device and physicaly satisfying.
I’m not convinced it offers any benefit over the Apple dongle so I’m going to return mine as the output clicks every few seconds when connected to a phone via usb c. For me a complete waste of money.
@@jamesk5323 all iems and headphone come with Single ended. Some include a balanced cable but some can’t even be used balanced. There is no need for a balanced connection if the single ended is well implemented.

You don't seem to understand how output stages on amplifiers are working, but that's perfectly fine. The size and quality of the amp stage directly influences the damping factor and ultimately the stage size as well.
@@Soundnews best not to use any term just for the heck of it. Damping factor is dependent upon output impedance and it has one of the lowest output impedance you would ever see in any portable device so it has a very high damping factor. With headphones better depth perception translates into less width that's it. Better you test this in a speaker set up or even use it as a dac to your amp which will reduce depth perception slightly thus increasing width perception.

I watched whole "Battery" part, and the closest thing was about "protective mode" after full charge while my question was about 5 minutes before full charge (where original Mojo makes hissing sounds). The fact that it is an “updated” version that still uses micro usb to charge it is laughable at any price point. It has a usb-c port to interface with computers a smart phones. All that is a deal breaker for me.
No bluetooth, micro USB, no balanced 4.4mm output and way way overpriced. Not for me. DACs have made huge steps since 2015 in term of price, sound and features. Chord still makes overpriced 2015 DAC product.

Even Chord Dave sound similar to Mojo, in that it doesn't sound warmer or boosted in the bass or on lower mids. It just has more definition, more notes, more resolution in the time domain. I think you guys are way too used to distorsion and busy sound from other brands. Well when there is no distorsion, you don't hear it, you also don't get grain, clipping, "blendiness", fuzzyness, and so on. You hear the most clean notes, but you're not used to that. You want everything to sound warm, if you could add 10 db below 1khz, it will be perfect. Like Audeze. Warm and nothing else. Just a 10 db lower shelf if possible. On everything, on every song, on every source. Now Chord decided to please the kids who want a non-flat frequency response. Now the kids can change the EQ on every song. Instead of listening to the whole album without touching the DAC, like it happened with Mojo 1. Even Chord Dave is considered by many as not "able" to fully drive headphones... how in the world ? Well, people want boosted lower mids. But Chord wanted to give a flat frequency response and that means no distorsion, but kids want lower mids distorsion. But that wasn't enough. For the kids. Now the kids may be happier with Mojo 1. Bring that lower mids boost. So now their headphones can sound full. What about buy bookshelf speakers and tie them to your head? It will sound much fuller than a 2 inch headphone driver. Way more dynamic. How is possible that 8 inch driver sound more dynamic and more powerfull than a 2 inch driver ? :mindblowing: Of course a 2 inch driver will sound compressed in the bass even at 130 dB... but you still increase that volume pot to get more bass, like you want to get to a 8 inch driver capability. "You don't get big soundstage from such a small product" Wow, what a line. Then we need 20 pounds DACs for big soundstage. You can ban me, I don't care. Lots of stupid people in this hobby.
The Dave can't drive the hungry planars. And what about tubes? They cause distortion... It's not always a bad thing. You must like thx or topping then. They measure amazing.
in a blind test between a dave and an apple dongle plugged into an amplifier my friend couldn't hear any differences. There is no point in spending all that money on a Dac because even if the dac on paper is perfect our ears are limited and will never hear that improvement in sound.
The c port placement allows you to have the cable flat on the table. The micro usb for charging cost 8 dollar if you havent one. A small price for the excellent sound and the compatibility with the poly.
They didn’t do much in 7 years lol Money Grab!! So many better products out there these days with a lot more inputs and outputs make this irrelevant in 2022
No balanced output, and if you are colour blind you are screwed controlling said item, also it looks cheap and nasty, the black finish is as dull as ditch water.

How could you get hold of one such early, did chord lend you one or some distributer?
So I got one finaly. I have seen this effect in gadgets that have metal bodies. It happens with my ipad. It might not be intended but harmless imo.

What about the heating issue? Is it solved?
Lack of a balanced connector is disapointiong due to having to change cables, however audio quality and amping capability will decide it.
It's all about implementation. Chord doesn't use balance on any of their amps.

Even Chord Dave is considered by many as not "able" to fully drive headphones... how in the world ? Well, people want boosted lower mids. But Chord wanted to give a flat frequency response and that means no distorsion, but kids want lower mids distorsion. But that wasn't enough. For the kids. Now the kids may be happier with Mojo 1. Bring that lower mids boost. So now their headphones can sound full. What about buy bookshelf speakers and tie them to your head? It will sound much fuller than a 2 inch headphone driver. Way more dynamic. How is possible that 8 inch driver sound more dynamic and more powerfull than a 2 inch driver ? :mindblowing:
Of course a 2 inch driver will sound compressed in the bass even at 130 dB... but you still increase that volume pot to get more bass, like you want to get to a 8 inch driver capability.

in a blind test between a dave and an apple dongle plugged into an amplifier my friend couldn't hear any differences. There is no point in spending all that money on a Dac because even if the dac on paper is perfect our ears are limited and will never hear that improvement in sound.

Chord mojo 1 honestly didn’t deliver given it’s premium price. Now if this mojo 2.0 is 20% better it is still shit. Good review.

Micro USB? I'm not spending a single dime on anything that has micro usb in 2022.
The Micro USB is to retain compatibility with the Poly, it also has USB-C I believe
But it charges via micro. The C port looks like a tacked on after thought.
The c port placement allows you to have the cable flat on the table. The micro usb for charging cost 8 dollar if you havent one. A small price for the excellent sound and the compatibility with the poly.

No balanced output, and if you are colour blind you are screwed controlling said item, also it looks cheap and nasty, the black finish is as dull as ditch water.
