I convert the black layer into a smart object and then apply the flare to it. That gives you the ability to go back and change the flare and it's size, and if I want to add hue to it the better way is to add a HUE layer only over the layer with flare, then everything becomes editable/adjustable.
Always keen to drop a comment showing the gratitude that I honestly I payed and the content had wouldn't match to what I get on a regular basis. The learning curve is demanding, however with you guys along makes it more simple! Cheers
I am new to my DSLR camera and Photoshop and I am so happy I finally found good tutorials after looking for a while. Thank you so much =), have a great day!!
Here I am in 2021 wanting to add this effect to some photos but couldn't figure out how to transform and color the flares ... now I know! Thanks again, PHLEARN ...!
Another great one! Thanks, Phlearn! Any chance you could go over the various options such as blending options or internal shadow when you double click on the outer part of the layer box? Thanks!
YESSSS!! THIS VIDEO IS LIFE!! I have a request! I work with a TON of nerds, my clients really want magic in their photos. Wand duels and lightsaber battles. I need to be able to make all of that come to life! I have no idea HOW to use the pen tool and make things shine, bubble, and glow! Please make a tutorial covering those things! ❤️
Aaron, I had this problem recently however, I came up with a different work around. Hold down ALT key and select new layer. Set its mode to overlay and fill with 50% overlay neutral gray. Now, convert to a smart object and create your lens flare. This way, you can always go back and move your flare, change the style, mask parts, etc.
Spot healing brush too, healing brush tool, patch tool and content aware. I know how to use these tools but i would like to know what would be the best for the right scenario or when to use them, etc. Thanks and another great tutorial ;)
THANKS, that was very cool.... I need to familiarize myself with .... the various LAYER modes.... to figure out what knocks out what.. good to know that SCREEN will take away BLACK .. background.
