always enjoy Dr. Mark. He has a good knowledge of the bio-mechanics of the horse's lower limbs. Thanks for the knowledge that helps me sort through the nonsense I hear every day in this challenging profession. Cheers!
I have always had a deep love for horse's. I never really realized the care and maintenance that has to go into caring for the feet. This is very interesting, and informative thanks much..
Thanks for posting. This was very interesting…. But hard to learn as video camera wasn’t held to follow the hands on mapping and measuring. Hopefully more to come
Alesa Lajana Hey Alesa, thanks for feedback! I’m working on some more videos at the moment. Your idea is very interesting and I will certainly think about doing a video on it in the near future. 👍 Alex
Great video Alex, very informative and interesting.....also nice that you weren't interrupted by a child picking his nose and asking in a whiny voice "Does it hurt them?"
Love your videos, can you try and make a video on shoeing a toed in/ pigeon toed horse? I can't seem to find any good content here on youtube about it. Thanks and keep up the good work :)
So interesting. My welsh sec D 4 year old pony is going barefoot. Her shoes have been off for 7 months. The farrier did none of these measurment? Or would he have known intualtively being a farrier? It is do wet and muddy. She is a not liking walking on stones on her front hooves. What boots would you recommend for hacking please . Thank you
@@AlexRidgewayFarrier It does with a little twist. Here, if you're lucky you would get a belgian hoof in our from a shire. And we would focus on the difference in those two and to a what we call "Varmblood" horse, those with smaller hoofs :P
Once again, (before trim) heel too low & undershot, toe too long, too much hoof overall. Common errors, not just in Thoroughbreds either. Very interesting, thanks again!! 😄

Great videos can watch these over and over!
This channel is binge worthy.
Very informative. Now if I can only fully comprehend and apply to my horse.
Thanks for posting. Very interesting! Any chance of a video showing the correction of a bullnose hoof using a barefoot trim? Many thanks

Hi Alex, do you know how the horse responded after going barefoot?

Every one has their own cross to bear including their health...please be gentle
is the hoof mapping used on all horses? ie draught horses also?
shane jeffery the original study did not include heavy horses but I would imagine the principles still apply
