A tutorial on how to use the XREAL Air and the XREAL Adapter for a Nintendo Switch. #AR # Augmented Reality # XREAL Air # Nreal # Switch Console # Technology
I think Nintendo probably wants to meet the expectation of extended gameplay. When plugged into a wall with the dock, you don't have to worry about faster battery depletion. When you have an external display the battery life will discharge way faster.
Even though I do not have an Xreal Air Pro or any variant of said product, I have found a way to get the Nintendo Switch working on docked mode with a power bank. The battery bank you would use has to support the Power Delivery protocol, not just USB-C form factor. However, if it works with regular screens this way, even stupid form factors like mini HDMI,. it will also work with this model of AR glasses with a USB-C to HDMI adapter.
i wanna buy this but i don’t know enough yet. i really just want to use this as a extra monitor to connect it to my ps5 and my pc. are the glasses able to connect directly to my computer and console using a cable?
PC and switch: Yes. Xbox One and Series X not (tested myself). When you have a PC or Laptop with an USB-C out which supports Display Port out, yes. Otherwise you have to use the adapter and go via HDMI out. USB-C would be better, because sound output via the glasses also do work (although the speakers in the temples are just... useable. Nothing fancy).
These glasses only are used with a cable. There's a usb-c that comes with the glasses to connect to your devices. For your PC, if you have a thunderbolt then it should work. They currently don't support the multiple virtual screen as they do with Mac but just either mirrors your desktop screen or you can use it as an extended screen. As for ps5, you will have to buy that adapter which is about 60 extra bucks. Since the glasses has no power source, that adapter is basically a mini power brick and usb-c to HDMI converter. The mini battery in the adapter only last until about 3 hours long. Just fyi.
Additional info for all switch gamers out there: You could use a PD capable powerbank for powering the switch dock, while on the move. So you don´t have to be tethered at all! 😎
Surely there is a smaller 3rd party dock. The VitureOne mobile power dock has a much more elegant solution that this. It probably will work with the airs
@@TrevorJones1 it doesnt work with the nreal airs cuz the port for the glasses on their is not a usb like the airs its dedicated to their viture glasses the input port looks totally different.
I'm going to be getting this set up when the ultra comes out. I was curious, if you have a small portable dock to play with the glasses on the go, how is the switch's battery life with the screen off?
Tethered is why I put down HTC vive VR after two months of the initial release of the platform. It was insane, but that wire just ends up grating on me.
So can’t use this portably. Have to use the dock even though it’s USB-C to USB-C. I wish Nintendo would just detect as display and power my glasses directly. I’ll never use my switch like this. Defeats my use case completely.
@NCW01 You can buy the Beam and Xreal Air 2/ Pro and the USB C to USB C cable andc that will fix this problom you can connext the glasses directly without a dock. Hope this helped.
Hi Trncel, As a user I can vouch that it work for Remote Play (PS) & Xbox gamepass app (Cloud & xbox) If you have a Samsung you can use dex to stream game on glasses and use phone like normal at the same time. (If u open/run game pass or remote play on dex)
Can we use this adapter with laptops which don't have usb c port. Which laptop +hdmi port to nreal adapter + nreal glasses? Which makes it more flexible to use?
My experience with PC and Laptop: Works fine, via HDMI (a Erazer Laptop, 5 years old) and a Dell PC with a GT1050Ti Low profile. But no sound via HDMI (glasses speakers don´t show any function), have to use headphones.
I set this up exactly as in the video with the official Nreal white adapter but it didn't work. Does this only work with the Oled Switch or will it work with the original Switch as well? Also, is there a plug in order needed to make it work? I must be missing something.
The same thing happened to me. You can try buying a better USB-C cord with display capability. One, because it worked better for me, and two, the cord the AR glasses come with is too short to be comfortable. You must be very close to the dock with the stalk cord vs. a 10" to 15" cord.
Why would one make a video like this without stating exactly what adapter is being used? Is it one officially licensed to work with the Nreal? Is it made by a third party? Do any adapters work that already exist? There is no mention of which adapter is used in the video, nor where to get it. So what is the point of the video?
Hi Blackat101, thank you for your kind suggestions. 😀At the beginning of the video, at about 03'', you can see that it clearly says the "Nreal Adapter", this is the name of the adapter being used. You could buy it in China now and it will be available on Amazon US very soon.
@@XREAl_Tech_Support Thank you for that. Honestly could not tell that Nreal Adapter was a product name or if it was just claiming that it was using an adapter for the Nreal.
Regarding the 16:9 which gives us the full virtual screen 130" of the Air Glasses ... STEAM DECK has 16:10 aspect ratio screen so...that means that games Will not get the 130" of the Air Glasses screen??? Will appear the black bars at the top and the button of the virtual screen? Maybe, if in game settings you select 16:9...Will Fix It to get the 130"??? Could any Steam deck Owner check and confirm this please?? Thank you
Hi Nicholas, yes, with some additional parts, you can use the Nreal glasses with iPhone12. You may use a Nreal Streaming Box which could cast your phone screen to the glasses; You could use lightning to HDMI converter plus the Nreal Adapter for screen mirroring. And this is the whole point. The glasses use make sense when in portable mode. The main reason im interested in the glasses is to use them with the Switch when in the go.
the problem is the switch itself. I don't think it outputs any power on its USB-C port so it can't power the glasses. It also doesn't display any video without a power input on it's USB-C port. I got mine to work with a janky multi dongle setup, but its super bulky and ridiculous.
This is BS. When you move your head, any slight movement is painfully obvious. This is why people are put off by AR pre-purchase vs personal expectations. Everyone who simulates AR Promotes it as AR displayed in a fictional aspect vs Non-Fictional or IRL. As the glasses are mounted/restring on your head any movement of your noggin, the projected screen moves with the angle of your eyes and tilt of the head, it doesn't stay stationary like that displayed in this video or other advertisments.
The adapter also works correctly with sound output, @NREAL-Team? I got the Gofanco, but it only works without sound. Also, the device works with all HDMI sources without issues (as the Gofanco only works properly with the Switch)? Thanks for sharing this with us!
Hi Alf. Yes, the Nreal Adapter works flawlessly with the Nreal Air including the sound output. It will work for most of the HDMI sources for the Nreal Air as far as we tested, but we cannot assure you that all the HDMI sources will be fine.
@@XREAl_Tech_Support I got mine today, from a Japan seller, but have to complain about some things here: Switch and also my Iphone and Ipad don´t have sound, when plugging that in, I have to wear my earbuds for sound. The fact that you can't just plug the god damn USB C into the switch, similarly to how you can with the steam deck, is just sad.

Hi. What adapter are you using in this video?
While using the nintendo switch does the screen stay still ? Or does it move around as I move my head ??
With every coupled device, the screen is always in front of your eyes and move together with your head movement.
Dock mode is only available with the beam

is there a way to use body anchor while connected with Nintendo Switch?
Isn't it possible to use Beam ?
so it is just plug n play with the adaptor and no need a separate nebula software like you do on the Mac OS and iOS?
The adapter has a built in battery that lasts for only 3 hours
Can we plug in anything with an HDMI or will it not work that way (doesn't power the glasses)?
The adapter itself needs charge. The hdmi won’t charge it. So charge the adapter then put any hdmi cable into the adapter and nreal

Can you play the switch remotely?
What the is the point? Does it make gaming 3d?? I don't get why I'd do this instead of just using the screen.
Can i connect iPhone 12 ?
Afaik you need an official apple adapter to HDMI output for it.

Can we just use an HDMI to usb-c cable instead of the adapter?
No because it needs the adapter in order to power the glasses.
Do i need to use the hdmi adapter to use it in my laptop that has type c output?
No. I have a 2018 MacBook with usb-c ports and it works fine with that. Also works fine plugging directly into the usb-c port on my iPad.
