Thanks for the videos Felix. Great insight. What I have liked most about this trade and draft period is that the club is clearly acknowledging that the current list is not a top 4 (or 8) side and building it around the younger players. Dodo would’ve traded picks for quick fixes, instead building a side. Considering what Rosa had to work with, this has been a very good outcome. The next challenge is now developing these guys - over to you Mr Scott. I really hope he gives them a run in the senior team next year. I’m not expecting much next year but would simply enjoy seeing these young lads have a go. I’m still hopeful that players like Nik Cox can get back to what they are capable of. Cheers!
That mick ablett bloke has no idea for a so called draft expert. We picked up needs as you said felix and now we head into 2025 with 2 firsts ready for a possible trade. Very good trade period

For me: Getting Kako (clear mid first round ) Gerryn (for me mid second round) Clarke (mid second round) , then Unwin and Johnson (third to fourth rounds) was a solid result...but now having two first round picks next year (probably top ten at this stage) and two second round picks...makes this draft go from solid to excellent
Not moving up to get Shanahan or Whitlock makes sense, as Scott typically doesn’t like playing first year players. The thing with the first round, is it’s like walking into a field of daisy’s and picking the first ones to bloom; just because they bloom first doesn’t mean they’ll be the best or any better in the long run, and if I had to guess Scott’s philosophy, it would be something along these lines. Often times the kids of the same draft who develop a few years later may end up being better, or at the least have a greater self awareness and gratitude for any opportunity that arises. If we moved up to draft a tall Forward, there would have been unnecessary pressure all season for the kid to play, where as Scott wants his players to mature for a year or two. Going forward, I would expect much of the same from Essendon; not a lot of value placed of first rounders, so much as developing and making good in the rookie draft, as they have shown to do in the past few years. I thought it was a disaster, but now I see and have connected the dots and, upon reflection, it was a great draft for the Bombers.
I like Gerreyn a lot as a CHF and someone who can compete in the air and give the small forwards a chance. we have all seen how 2MP is allergic to physical contact.
It's amusing you mentioned Redman in relation to Clarke as Clarke is not only a fellow South Aussie but he is from Tantanoola which is only about 10km from Mason Redman's hometown of Millicent.

not going to lie, when Kako slipped to 13 I was made we traded pick 9. But being set up with 2 and potentially 3 first rounders (Draper FA compensation) as well as some talented looking kids late in the draft, it was definitely a solid move
Pretty happy. Predict a bottom 8 finish for both us and dees, which will set us up nicely for next year. These picks put great pressure on a couple; Gerreryn should work to take Wrights spot to pinch hit the ruck, and Redman better find form again before Clarke develops. I also think Johnson could be a bit of a steal of the draft, something about him, bit of a Darcy Parish replacement - faster and good with hands.
I agree with Kako & Clarke, I think both will be guns. Clarke definitely needs 2-3 VFL seasons + plenty of gym work to build up his body (definitely a Redman clone). Johnson too I think is speculative. Unwin & Gerreyn I could see get early debuts, they both look physically ready and considering 2m, Guelfi, Gresham, Menzies & Davey are quite poor I don’t see an issue with them getting games.
